This is wonderful work, thanks for creating this! Solved a lot of the problems I had with Lie, and I didn't necessary like the workflow of mapping parameters inside of Lie either.

I only wish that instead of making presets in Ableton, that you'd make them in Blue Cat Audio's "Remote Control" software so that we can all have access to it.

This is much more clear video presentation than the manufacturers' Those guys show half of the video the face of the presenter and go very fast over the features explanations. If I would have looked at their tutorials before buying the device I would never buy it. Lie's problem is that supports only VST2 , and nowadays most VSTi are VST3, some DAWs dont even support VST2 anymore
It's a pity because I actually really like the Touche but the promos and the software are not doing it any favors.... especially the vst part which seems to be something the community has been complaining about for ages
@@arbitersofsound I am SO tempted to buy a Touche but I'm worried that they'll drop support for it completely in the future, and then what? I'm a nurse, not a programmer, I'm not going to develop my own software once EE's becomes too archaic to run/use.
Thank you for the awesome device! My only question is I can't seem to get the pitch bend working, since that's not a MIDI CC message that can be mapped. It works with Lie but not your Max device. Can you help me?
Yes of course! First you should use Lie to activate pitch bend on the Touche. Then just make sure that the pitch thru button on the bottom of the device is active (you can turn it on and off by using the right button of the Touche as well). If you still can't get it to work you can message me directly on our Discord server and I'll help you out :D
hey, I ve an issue with my live session. I always need to have the Lie Audio Unit opened to make your utility device work and untfotunatly I can t put another instrument vst. Is it normal ? thanks
That could be because your Touche is not sending the correct CCs (16 17 18 19).
Did you change them in the past or maybe buy it second hand?
It's not normal and we can definitely sort it out.
I have a touche and the device you designed seems amazing to have, I read the chat in the comments here and I strongly agree - please make this device available for all people as a vst or something else and not just for Ableton Live suite users. thank you very much!
We are actually working on this right now! Hopefully in the next 3-4 weeks we will release a standalone version for all DAWs with lots of extra features (especially for the Touche SE). If you want to play around with the beta version earlier, send me a message on Discord :D

Yeah, it will work for both, but it has more features for the SE because in standalone mode the SE is pretty much a blank slate for modding, whereas the normal one goes into hardware control mode. got here while I'm still waiting on mine to arrive so dont know about the lie experience yet but the fade in/out option seems very nice to have so I was wondering is it only for ableton or is it stand alone/vst for other daws too?

The fade in/out feature is still a complete game-changer for me :D I also use it a lot that way to do automation sends for delays / reverbs on vocals.
We just released version 2 btw about 5 mins ago, so check that out and I'm going to do a video on it soon.
We have the standalone version on beta right now but it should hopefully be out very soon, we'll post a video when the time comes!

@@arbitersofsound thanks! yes its honestly kind of surprising to me the official version does not have the fade option it seems like such an obvious thing to have on a sensitive device.

Hello Vasilis, I've just found out about the newer Touche Control 2 patch. But once dowloaded it I noticed that I am unable to map anything with it. It simply won't react to any parameter. And the pitch bend command on the newer and also older version wouldn't work for me. Do you have any idea what may cause the problem, or maybe have any suggestions? Ableton Live 11 Suite, Mac.
Hey! Unfortunately what I think is the problem is Ableton 11 (or your version of Max). It seems that they've updated the way Max handles mapping in the new Ableton/Max release and that's what's causing the freak out. Try updating Max just in case that solves it :(
how do you manage to control pitch-bend with your Ableton's Touche Control?
Can it be achieved without using Lie as vst host inside the Ableton?
You'll need to activate it inside Lie first, save it as your default hardware preset, and then you never have to use Lie again. (I think we sorted it now :D)

The Touché is a great device. Just like the stick on the Mini and Monologue Korg synths, I like to either angle the Touché 45 degrees, and sometimes I just turn it horizontal. I find pitch bending by pulling the pad towards me almost similar to bending on a lap steel guitar. With just a little practice, and enough of a bend range setting on the synth patch, it's relatively easy to bend interval pitches, and couple it with filter swells on the top/bottom functions, I use it to pull off a cover of Frankenstein live easier than I ever did with wheels.
Your interface to skip Lié seems pretty cool. Any chance of a Windows version? ;)
As long as you are using Ableton the device should work on both Mac and Win! The horizontal Touche idea is genius, now I need to go try it out :D

Hello, I have a very confused question to ask, how should I set it up if I need to use more than one LIE in my DAW? Now the situation is that I control the touche se and the other lie will follow along with the feedback operation, I really hope this question can be answered, thank you!
Are you trying to run multiple LIEs or are you referring to our Touche Control patch?

I think that the Lie should only respond if your current track in Ableton is armed, so in theory you can have multiple Lies on multiple tracks and be able to control them one at a time.
But to be honest with you I found the whole Lie experience so annoying that I ended up making my own patch, so if you're using Ableton Suite try it, it's free and you'll probably like it more than Lie :D
Any chance of doing something similar with Bitwig ?

Fantastic stuff. I was trying to figure if should buy the original or SE One thing Im NOT ableton user so your program to run thats for other daws or hardware did you ever make it? I dont see any mention of this as in another video on your youtube channel . I have a roland Fantom keyboard and ASM Hydrasynth and use Logic pro and Bitwig Studio thought i tried to use Discord but it wont let me connect there says hidden unless i pay some fee to Nitro whatever that is. Im keen on the software you mention and am willing to pay for it if its available? cheers

It definitely should. It should actually be even easier with the non SE Touche, because you can save presets on the hardware. Give me a shout on Discord if you need any help!

It seems that Ableton has made the original Expression Control (and some other Max devices) available on Live Standard, but they are blocking access to 3rd party Max devices (unless you have a separate Max license or Live Suite).
I think I could make this work externally on Max (which you could run without a license).

This is a Max4Live device, only Ableton Live Suite has Max4Live, the other versions don't.
@@arbitersofsound Only Ableton Live Suite has Max4Live engine, so I am not really sure how can you make it work on another version that does not have it, unless you code it as a VST
@@ZorinA-cp1kn Basically what I'm proposing is to make a version of this device (with a few more features such as preset saving etc) so that it can run on standalone Max/MSP rather than M4L. Max seems to have an "infinite" trial, which means that the end user can run any patch for free as long as they're not doing any editing themselves. Then the MIDI from Max could be passed on to Ableton just like any external device without the need for a M4L license. If anyone is really interested to help me troubleshoot it, I think this could potentially work. And that would mean that you can use it with any DAW not just Live.

Lie is bound to VST2 only .... vst3 is not supported (already spamed the developer for more than a year). I'm on studio one, so great tool but not useable for me.
Yeah, Lie feels so half-assed sometimes. If I can make a standalone max version for you, so you can run it outside studio one and forward the midi to studio one (maybe also so it can store presets for different vsts and fx and daw functions) would you be interested?
@@arbitersofsound Currently my touch is "untouched" due to a lack of support. In the "RAW" midi mode it's able to control the cutoff on my Diva synth, the big problem is it returns to 0 after letting the touch se "go". This force you to keep your hands on the touch SE. Your time (attach / release) solution could be a lifesaver. I'm added to your Dischord, that maybe a better chat option ;)

Only now I am hearing, this shall be written with big capital letters on their website. If I would have known this before buying I wouldn't make the step. A sublime piece of software that is obsolete. And not only that, it looks like is more tailored to Ableton Live.
Yes big deception for me when I saw VST 3 were not supported. They told me that it will be in the futur but cannot give me a date :( and I'm not very optimistic, they seem to be full time on the Osmose. Sadly I mosly use Kontakt 7, who is only VST 3, and Equator, also VST 3. I was very sorry because it's a great tool. So I use the midi version, with only 4 slots when I want to use Kontakt 7. I also reinstalled the Kontakt 6 player, which is VST 2, so I'm able to play Touche with my player my Kontakt player intrument or... those I didn't batch resave.
