- Three consecutive years of drought coupled with a sharp recession triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic will leave a third of the population in Southern Madagascar struggling to put food on the table. With severe malnutrition rates continuing to spiral and many children forced to beg in order to help their families eat, urgent action is required to prevent a humanitarian crisis.
This is worse than a person can even imagine.
Yes, i supported the UNWFP programme through monthly credit card deduction. Not much but at least it can help the people needed food.
Fill up loads of beans and corn in shipping cointainers and send it, it's cheap and fast and fully functional food.

@@theos2493 Money is the issue. Money is loaned into existence at the apex of the global socio-political pyramid and trickles down in exchange for true resources and services. When people are so poor they have nothing to offer in exchange for social currency tokens (money) they starve. Subsistence farming has been replaced by cash crops such as sugar, coffee, and vanilla (Madagascar produces most of the world's vanilla) for wealthy nations with the profits of such intensive farming going to multi-national corporations that get the farming contracts by bribing self-serving corrupt government officials. Then you have the corruption rife in governments like the Malagasy government where officials are constantly filtering tax money into their personal Swiss bank accounts etc... Only 7% of Malagasy GDP is directed to healthcare when even the African Union stipulates a minimum of 15%. The problem is we are still using an outdated monetary-market ideology where-by even charities have to be run like businesses to maximize the profit margins so they focus a lot of time and effort and reinvestment of their funds on marketing. There is no profit in feeding the poor, multi-billion dollar food corporations like Monsanto actively buy up fertile land to produce cash crops for the wealthy populations in Europe and the US, they destroy excess food in places like Europe and the US to artificially keep its value up, wealthy governments pay farmers not to farm for the same reason. People have made a crazy crazy world by focusing all their efforts and energy on chasing the profit incentive for relative wealth and it is literally killing people, destroying the environment, and requires constant growth and consumption on a finite planet that is clearly untenable in the long term. What happens when the service sector becomes automated, when science and technology advances to the stage where having a human workforce becomes inefficient? Self-driving transportation, online virtual classrooms with AI teachers, Automated medical procedures, automated resource distribution to and from supermarkets? It is all on the cards and the current monetary-market economy of the world simply cannot cope. People will have no jobs to earn the tokens (money) to purchase the products (including food) being produced 24/7 by automated industry and automated hydroponic crop growing facilities... The monetary system needs to be adapted but the people in positions of relative power and influence who could try to think about how to adapt it are also the ones in positions of relative wealth as a consequence of the system and they prefer to live in their own immediacy and enjoy the benefits of their own relative wealth. It is a crazy situation really.
Get rid of the Government and support your local farmers. That's the only way to survive all this. The farmers in Australia are being betrayed by the Government. Planned starvation.
If every sports man or singer or politician, etc donated 1% of what they have.

@@Filledesbois-ds7hn for a person like me it’s doesn’t need to be percentage wise. Let’s say I have 10k in a bank donating 1k is 10% but when you are a celebrity with tens of millions in your account 1k is nothing let’s say 1k out of 10M it is 0.01%.

Man people in UK and Germany have a collection of Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz and BMW and they won’t give one broken dollar to those poor people in Madagascar and the rest of the world. Those people literally can’t afford one bread so that they could eat.
Make ponds of drinkable water nearby the villages and had them refilled everyday. Ang make irrigation system meanwhile. Yes, it costs but it works

Why can't world united together and give them place to live in their country. Madagascar is not a place to live and as we can't fight nature and also we can't win from nature.
Helping them is good and it is like work of god, but this is not permanent solution, either make these region habitable or allocate them to other places.
