  • This is a simple test I performed at home using a computer power supply. I could have used the car battery but this worked just as well.
Make sure that your solenoid is operating optimally by applying some pressure to pin when it's fully pushed out.

Thank you for this! My 323Ci E46 is very weak up to about 5000 rpm. I already replaced all the VANOS seals, but no difference. Today my garage told me that there was an error code on this Vanos intake solenoid. Will definetely try this and see if it needs replacing!

Hey I’m having the same issue. Any luck replacing the solenoid?? I did the seals and it runs a little better but still weak just curious if the solenoid fixed your issue thank you for the response!!

@@rocksanders3643 Turned out my solenoid wasn’t even connected! We connected it obviously, and things got better. Can’t say for sure, weve done so many things..

      Hi Boni.
Did you confirm that your vanos solenoid is working?
If so do you hear a rattling sound coming from your engine, you may need to replace your vanos seals, bearings and steel ring.
You can also check if the vanos is actually working by checking testing the solenoid on the car

Maybe you can post one I don't have a multimeter. I don't have fancy tools as long as I can test if it works correctly then I'm good.
So for people who don't have a multimeter test your solenoid with a 12v battery or any 12v DC connection and your good

@@DeveroyB So i can tell that the parameters on vanos is all about the solenoid.
