You can override the Failsafe....start it it in Park......then put it in Neutral....switch off......then start it Neutral......it will run fine and the Failsafe readout will go...but not the engine light

Hi Andreh, thanks for your beautiful video... very worthy. So means the error might due to almost 4 possibilities
    1. Low battery voltage
    2. Untimely service
    3. Input or output transmission sensors
    4. Solenoid faults

      Yes, correct

but add another important things is if you know ur transmission is shifting smooth and not extra other noises. so I recommended that if you find out one of the sensors are out no matter what change both. wiring its important as i shown in the video make sure like mine the plug is tight attached not loosen like mine good luck.

Interestingly my 2005 L322 transmission shifts fine when it's cold but after 15 miles and hot it will not shift until the rpm is quite high and if if I don't back down the rpm quickly and it shifts at the high rpm it is very abrupt. Then the TRANS FAILSAFE PROG warning comes on. I bought a low temp thermostat and new trans oil cooler to try, but it may be the sensors so I'm going to check those too. Thx for the video

@@walkmesurrey not yet. I've had a busy couple of months and will take it to an independent shop in June to install the thermostat and trans oil cooler and give me his opinion on what is going and if it is temperature or sensor related, or if it's more serious like internal seals requiring transmission repair or replacement.

These rovers are sick trucks but god damn there a pita, I just a bought a 05 HSE with 200k kms of a buddy of mine for 500$, but it won't move in drive but did in reverse, barely, I think the torque c is toast

    I appreciate that video.
I've got that same transmission fail safe problem. Changes the oil twice now aswell the sensors 10 days ago. Drives well when changes, goes in all gears aswell sport mode upto 5th. But goes back in 1 & 2 gears afterwards.
Now it's in transmission mode again and ain't pulling off in drive, but in reverse brilliant.
Now I'm going to change the transmission oil the 3rd time where I was advice to do on CZcams.

Did you get it fixed? My HSE 05 won't move in drive, its not the linkage but reverse was working but not now, I just bought it for 500$, is the gear selector in drive, n,and reverse supposed to lock, I can move it without pressing the button

Hey Brown. About my transmission fail safe,I'm still experiencing the same issues after changing the filter, sensors & oil for the third time.
Drives okay at first but after trying to pull off by the traffic lights, then it(L322 2002 4.4 petrol range rover) made a huge knock then jumps off moving, before reving off then pick up speed.
      Don't know what's wrong.
Was told to change my battery because it also can cause the issue. My battery ain't good either,if the vehicle don't start in two days have to jump start my vehicle.
But it will be much appreciated if you know any good news on these issues,it will do help..
      Rohan.

You can override the Failsafe....Start it in Park.....put it in Neutral......switch off.....start again this time in Neutral.....Readout will go...will run normal...but engine light will stay on till sensor fix

Make sure ur radiator its in good condition also transmission oil cooler and the thermostat is in good condition, if never been done I recommend it change ur mail radiator and ur thermostat its the small one connected the transmission cooler to that this are very important component

Hi. Rohan Hutchinson here.I've got the same issue which I change everything both sensors oil & filter twice. I live in Great Britain England
Second oil change the vehicle drive abit then back in transmission fail safe mode.
Now I'm going to change the oil & filter now for the 3rd time.
Oh yeah, both sensors was good yet I still changed them with both reading was 390&345ohms. My harness is good aswell.
L322 2002 4.4 petrol bmw engine right hand drive.
Was thinking its the transmission gearbox module, because I would think that's the fault.
    Kind regards.

My rover also got the same problem. When it happened I noticed the speedometer went out at the same time. So no matter the speed, it is reading 0mph. Logically, I think its those input / output sensors.

I believe thee is also a temperature range when filling the transmission also, great video!. Mine is a ZF26, I didn't see those sensors on mine which is an 06 HSE I changed Solenoids and when done had no reverse.

Hi Andreh. So, did replacing the sensors, and fixing the short in the circuit by repairing the loose cable fix your issue? I have the same issue, and was about to replace the solenoids. Open circuit, solenoid B is my code. Same symptoms as yours, but an open circuit seems to be what you had, in addition to the dead sensor. Thanks
