The biggest change World had for Swax was that it lets you switch between ax and sword mode after any attack while in older games, you could only do so after specific attacks.
You also get the ability to switch after roles and such, the fastest way to get out of sword mode for me, was always roll forward right trigger. Also, while in putting a switch you can hold backwards, and you switch while moving backwards. I play alchemy style switch acts so it plays completely different for me, but I'm pretty sure gu doesn't have the ability to switch and move forward as well.

You did forget one of the most important aspects that separates Swaxe from World and GU.
Whenever you switch from sword mode to axe mode in World, you regain some sword charge back. GU doesn't have this mechanic so you'll find yourself having to limit your combos even more in GU than what you did in World.
Otherwise a nice informative video to help bridge the gap between the Old World and New World!
On top of that, he was missing how world added the ability to switch between axe and sword in several new places, as well as several new switching moves. There's a lot new ways you can switch between the two in world.

played lots of Switch Axe in MH3U , not so much after that because i wanted to try different stuff. But i just noticed recently, that in MHW, the "morph-back-to-Axe" move deals a ton of damage AND fills up your sword gauge quite a bit :O realy rewards you for switching modes during combos. Though im playing MHGU at the moment.

Solid vid ma man. I actually always preferred the stiff nature of SA more than the auto switching, felt like I had more control over my combos. Either way, thanks for giving my baby some love.

Am I the only one who got tired of sword mode only SA in gen? I mean sure DPS and all but I find using and switching between both the modes more fun than spamming the up and down or the side swings.
Gen and GU are the best at giving many options to the player but making one of them way better than the others. Striker SA in Gen is ridicolously broken, and that can be said about basically any weapon with a certain style. World's SA is surely more balanced between sword and axe mode thanks to the morphing attacks. It may not be as powerful as Gen's, but is less boring for sure.
This is why I use tempest axe because, while it does buff up the axe, it also super buffs one particular move where after the uppercut one could follow up with a flurry of axe attacks that slowly drained your stamina. Now after a couple of slashes the attacks get ridiculously fast and a new finishing move is added on top. While it's very difficult to pull of in most cases, when a monster is toppled or is one of the large and slow ones is where this truly shines, especially while on dash juice.
At least the triple spinning attack for the Axe Mode, acutally hits three times since Generations, making it a lot more useful and less awkward than it was in 4U.
Urgh...why...why does everyone think Aerial is about mounting...its a counter style which uses your aerial evades to vault off of monsters attacks for free openings, or massive damage combos with certain weapons.

Well you didn't meantion that those stamina swings are the most dps heavy move in the game and that the new hunter art halves their stamina use and speeds them up on top of that so it is quite different to world where you'll only really do them to initiate the transform attack.
People do not use the axe mode enough. It is really good, but people just keep on using the sword mode, because "cool energy sword." Axe has a lot more mobility than sword as well as some really powerful attacks. As a SWAXE veteran I can attest. Give axe a chance and cool it with the fucking sword spam (also adept + tempest axe is dope). Obviously I'm very late.
I feel you dude, I personally love the sword animations most but the axe is iconic and gives the weapon so much versatility and raw power.
I like that you goes very straight to the point whithin the intro.
Aerial is such a good style for SA, will always be my favorite implementation of it.

Really, switch axe is so diverse, there is nothing particularly bad about it (outside of trans slash, though you could use it on the big elder bois for fat deeps). Gen is the first time the switch axe has been as high as it is on my usage lists.
I started gu thursday and i decided to main aerial SA becahse ITS SO FUCKING COOL....and its pretty fucking good too
It was for me In MH3. Switch Axe Is basically what Introduced me to Monster Hunter... too bad It sucked shit In MH4U...

You forgot to mention your infinite combo in axe mode(double horizontal slash you use to get into sword mode in World) goes faster and consumes less stamina during Tempest Axe.
I wish they balance axe mode, being more about sword made me lose interest, id rather use GS or CB for focused sword play

Guild Style with Demon Riot and Absolute Evasion as your Arts.
^I played it this way, and I just keep switching between Axe to Sword, Sword to Axe, then repeat, until the Demon Riot is fully charged.
I actually use axe mode alot and I get by just fine. I'm still playing solo and only on 7 * quest so maybe that will change.
I had a tough time in GU. I mained it in 3, left it for DBs, went jack of all trades, picked it back up in World, then since I never mained anythjng in Gen, I have no reflexes.
I remember the days of Alchemy Style with Energy Charge and Demon Riot. God damn that infinite sword gauge was fucking great.
Would love to see some of these moves come to World. Specifically, if we can get (new) moves that add more options for ax mode in Swaxe. To give us more reason and incentive to keep morphing back and forth during battle

Kosmos And it feel weak in world. I dont know why. When i used SA in Gen i was like wow this do some serious damage with simple attacks.
But in World i feel like every other weapon is better in some way than switch axe. Its just normal in everything. In gen longsword and switchaxe were tied at what weapon is better weapon in terms of pure time to kill. But in world i get so good times with longsword because of it overpowered foresightslash that when you do it you are invincible and get free charge if you hit. With SA you need to do much more to get same damage with worse dodgeing options. Maybe im trash with SA. But i played with every weapon and in terms of damage i cant get that good as other weapons on switchaxe. Maybe LBG because of me useing it as an utility gun and only for specific bosses. LS, GS, CB, DB, LNC is what i play best with. In all of monster hunter. And i play good with SA in gen. Its only my opinion but SA needs a buff or rework. Same with Gunlance. Its good but not as good as other simplier weapons. These weapons just need buffs in my opinion. Happy Hunting!

I will never forgive them from changing the X> X> X sword mode combo from 4U to A> A> A in Generations. Why do they have to do this? It messes up with my muscle memory so badly. Someone pls help me 😭 Switch Axe is ruined!
Hell in gu I started using brave style with tempest axe and mostly use axe mode more than sword. In Gen I did use demons riot and recharge in striker though. A good way to charge really fast in ultimate is to use the skill insight, striker style, and a hunters drink. That way you can still use the Gen version though you'll need the skill.

5:10 and guess what? you couple that with the 70% crit chance you get from Nargacuga set+Nargacuga SA and you get 100% crit.
Narga SA set is insane!
To me, MHW feels more mobile, while MHGU feels as stiff in movement as a greatsword

The one downside, I think, between 4th gen and 5th gen Switch Axe is that without the Amp Gauge, you have zero reason to use any phial type aside from Power if what you care about is DPS. With each phial type charging the Amp gauge at different rates, it made every phial viable again.
Except Dragon phial, no one cares about Dragon phial.
Why is striker better than alchemy?. As far as i understand, alchemy allows you to keep the double swing, so? Not to mention its own style advantages.

SA main in world but i just can't use it on GenU. losing the switch on rolls and pretty much every attack makes me just get hit constantly.

What's the best build for thus weapon on MHW. I consider myself a good user but there is a point that damage can't be improved. Hell you see speedruns and almost nobody use that weapon. I don't try to so speedruns but I wanna improve my time

Nobody uses Guild or Striker SA in genU especially against EX. that automatic death 😂😂 Aerial adept and Valor are top 3 and that’s not debatable
Striker SA with Evasion +2 and Absolute Readiness works great. Aerial is much riskier, and adept sucks.

Your videos are meaningless, specially because in 8 minutes you can't cover all the differences, and even if you could, MH is a game that actually you have to pick the controller and play and get used to it for quite a good time, really no point on watching it or hearing it. MGHU has 6 different styles for each weapon, compared to World, so again eeh, cheap views.
You rather do separated tutorials for each one and actually well covered, but yeah Gajin and Arekkz are way ahead in that topic.
