  • According a New York Times investigation, Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was compiling a list of officials and businessmen linked to the drug trade before he was murdered in July, and he had planned to give those names to the U.S. government. Maria Abi-Habib - the New York Times bureau chief for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean - authored that report and joins CBSN's Elaine Quijano to discuss what she found.

The real question is, how do they get the drugs from Haiti to the US without help from US officials? Better yet, if it is true that the US can't prevent these traffickers from getting the drugs into the US, why would anyone expect Haiti to have the capability to stop them from entering Haiti?
Haiti has so many problems of it's own, it shouldn't care if traffickers stop over on their way to the US. It already gives the US authority to investigate in Haiti, and it already extradite anyone indicted by the US with no judicial check.

One has to ask where he got this list, and what was he going to do with it. It's not like locals don't know who in the country is in the game. Besides drug trafficking isn't one of Haiti's biggest concerns, so it's useless and evidently dangerous to get involved in the United States' perpetual fruitless war on drugs.

if they make a movie about this tragedy, dave chapelle can play the haitian president. Joe Biden can play the person that ordered the hit. Rhihanna can play the mistress (harlot) of the haitian president. Alec baldwin can play the unrepetent "shooter" and leader of the columbians. Don lemmon can play the reporter on scene giving play by play updates. It would be a must see movie for netflix.
