It's also a very easy procedure to replace them if they break (thanks Vergil, I got a little too hyped in the bloody palace) and the kit is always about $10 on amazon.
I blew in the space in between the trigger and bumper that works too if you don't have compressed air
Edit: but don't blow too much because you will feel dizzy

My controller buttons were only partially working but all I did was blow in to the opening and it worked thanks
Make a note I did not use compressed air I just blew inside the bumper and now it's starting to work better
Sometimes if you can't feel the click you have to replace the full rb and lb plastic. You have to take it apart for that. The rb and lb press by a small leg 🦵 type thing that breaks and won't press the button after that. Easily swapped.

Your video just fixed my problem exactly god bless u being so straight forward I just pushed the trigger underneath it down and pressed it a couple times the bumper and it backed back into place just as easy as that
Tinker man mick if you see this I think its a good video but at least from what I've seen with Xbox controllers and the bumpers, they tend to be just a button with the plastic cover that you and everyone calls the bumper
I have the elite series 2 for some months, the lb button works perfectly but the rb button has some kind of problem. It only reacted in like 6/10 tries. Usually I blowed into it, and it worked, but somehow it didnt worked the last time I did it. I then took 70% alcohol, sprayed into it and pressed it very often. Now it works 🎉 THANKS ALOT, I already thought about repairing it
Same exact problem here. I have Allstate insurance on it thru Walmart but don’t wanna wait on the controller for a week and go without being able to play. Hopefully this works for the bumper

this would’ve been good 2 days ago i took apart my controller and tried taking off the bumpers, it was stuck so i used a screwdriver to lift it and the plastic broke off of the right bumper so now i have to buy a new bumper set

A few drops of isopropyl alcohol directly on the switch and pressing it a few times is what fixed mine and it's working flawlessly for weeks now.

Press the trigger and put a small drop or two of some low viscosity lubricating oil on the coil you see in there.
Press the trigger a few times and maybe, if you put too much on it, put a swab on it or wipe with a piece of paper towel over it to absorb any excess so it doesn't drop further down over time and get nasty.
I took oil normally used for my music instruments, just because I had some and they have a very nice long and extremely thin top which is perfect for applying very little on specific parts.
But anything intended for fine and delicate parts will work without any issues.
It's just about not changing the feel and resistance of the trigger by applying some heavier lubricant.

Yes. Mine only worked like 1/15 times 😂. I used a similar method of using isopropyl alcohol and it worked for me. But if it still doesn’t work I would look into something like replacing the actual button. 👍

i tried this and now instead of not working it thinks i’m constantly holding down the left bumper. i click it once and it’s as if it’s sticky keyed and thinks it’s being held.

the reason these controlle rhave bumper issue all the time is because the way its design. its a think plastic that pushes the button. Thin AF... it breaks.
luckly the fixed is a simple 10$ replacement part and 5 easy screws.

The bumper is a huge failure point when dropped, buying a cheap(tamper resistant) torx set and replacement bumpers for 10$ can save you from spending 60$ after you wasted 10$ on compressed air

Didn't help me even though I've bought mine in 2015. So because of that I have a Gen 1 controller, how can I fix bumpers on it? I've disassembled it and there's no visual damage to the bumper, it seems to be pressing the button fine, there is a click, but it registers very poorly, you have to press it very hard for it to register completely, in some places of the bumper the click won't register at all.
