Isn't it frustrating when the buttons on your xbox one controller don't work properly? Well in this video i'm going to show you how to fix & replace a broken bumper on an xbox one controller
We've found that a lot of gamers have issues with the xbox one bumper's getting stuck and in the video we go over how to fix the rb and lb button on the xbox one controller.
We will be also showing you how to dismantle an xbox one controller before we go over the bumper replacement.

My pause button won't work, it's not sticky or anything it's just not responding
@@catalyst9905 Oh no! Is it your xbox logo button or menu button?
@@Gamenetics menu button, I can't pause any game
@@catalyst9905 I see, that's frustrating for sure! First you should make sure your console and controller are up to date by doing the following:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select System > Settings > System > Updates & downloads.
Select Console update available.
Then I would suggest doing a hard reset of your console and if it's still not working.
You can do this by doing the following:
Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the âŻXbox âŻbutton âŻon the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.âŻ
Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds. Be sure to wait 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.
Plug the console power cable back in.
Press the⯠Xbox⯠button âŻon your console to turn on the Xbox One.âŻâŻ
You can also then try resetting your console by doing this:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Settings.
Select All Settings.
Select System.
Select Console info & updates.
Select Reset console.
On the Reset your console? screen, select Reset and keep my games & apps. This option will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps.
The last thing you can check is make sure there are no other controllers turned on when you have the console on and no buttons are pressed at the same time.
I'm going to check and get back to you and see if there's potentially a wiring issue internally in the controller that might be able to be fixed. I'll message back when I find out!
Should have shown how to orient the sync button.

SAMMEE HOW CAN I FIX IT?
Okay so If you've tried fixing this already with the tutorial, there may be another problem. You may have a problem with the circuit board rather than the external hardware. We currently do not have a tutorial on this and no one else on CZcams does either, we are going to work on coming out with a video solving this problem!
If you want to give it a shot yourself, you are going to need a soldering iron. You are going to have to desolder the 4 points on the circuit board to the bumper.
Then you will be able to pull out the bumper and replace it as well as solder the 4 pins back. This would more than likely fix your issue.
Unfortunately sometimes there's an issue with the circuit board. :/
I have a solution. If the bumper only works when you press down on it. Take the trigger of whatever side the bumper wonât work on and push it down the blow into the back of the bumper. And itâll work đ
Great advice Kristopher, thank you! đ
Could you lighten the video some? It's currently too dark to see detail. Also, to those watching, when purchasing new bumpers, buy one that includes the center piece that encircles the power button (as the one in this video did) - I bought one that didn't and had a heck of a time getting the two pieces to fully click together.
Yes, we will do that mate, not a problem. We will be sure to improve the lighting.
And great advice! đ
where do you buy that? I have no clue ho to get does extra pieces

Iâm not even kidding you, my bumpers just donât function when you press them, itâs not that they popped out, itâs just that you have to click down with immense strength just to be able to make it work
That's not good, sometimes those bumpers just go, the actual button inside just becomes, well squished. We don't have a fix for that unfortunately Joe but I wish you luck moving forward and thanks for sharing, cheers!

Nah, Iâve just been using the controller that isnât completely broken
try pressing the inner part of the bumper. the part closes to the Xbox button.
Thanks for the vid. When my bro ask me to put a button back I was a little dumbfounded on how to take it apart. It's a bit different from the 360 version.
OHHH yeah that's an older controller!!
Your solution didnât help me but iâm glad youâre here to help others
This quality on this channel is super good and the vids a re clear and easy to hear. This should get more subs
I didnt have the same issue (broken part) but I used the video as a tutorial to open the controller and try to fix it for myself. It kinda worked, the main problem is that the piece of plastic that holds the RB, LB SYNC buttons is very flimsy. Overtime it flexes and deforms causing it to lose "tension" and resulting in needing to press the buttons harder for them to respond. Biggest problem here is a poorly made controller by microsoft. With all that said, great video man, helped me a lot!
edit: typo
Yup, my original Xbox 360 controller lasted me 13 years, my new Xbone controller lasted 2 weeks before the bumper broke. So I stripped and cleaned the 360 controller to get it back in fighting shape....
almost seems like Microsoft intentionally made the replacement process difficult so weâre coerced into buying another $60 controller
Compared to ps4 controllers this is very easy trust me
Pretty easy if you ask me, only takes a few minutes and all you need is a screwdriver and small pry tool

ATTENTION!!! The amazon link he listed in the description is NOT the repair kit for the controller shown in the video (Xbox One Lunar White Controller.) The replacement in the amazon link has a straight plastic connector for the LB and RB buttons whereas for the lunar controller, the connector is a curved piece.
I wish someone wouldve posted this just a week earlier!! Took the one from amazon under the impression it would be for the one in the video. Mislead me.
@@BlueEliteNL I kept the pack that was linked in the video. I also ordered a different pack that was for the lunar white controller, so it's definitely out there for close to the same price. I learned that the lunar white controller has been discontinued so be sure to treasure it.
Thanks for the video, very useful. A trigger just popped off whilst playing rocket league! I found it easier when putting the new triggers in to have the trigger and the Xbox logo section separate, place the triggers in first and then once they are clicking correctly slide the logo bit in making sure the rear is in place properly and then clipping it into the two holes on the top and front. I have the same controller, the Lunar White which is great with the rear textured grip whereas at the time the others were just plastic.

There is a little piece of plastic which holds one end of the button in (extremely small). Its on the body of the controller, once that is broken you are screwed, you have to either put some tape to hold it in place or replace that entire plastic piece which holds all the buttons and thumb sticks in place. The other option would be to replace the controller.

Not sure if this will work for others, but it worked good for me.
My RB wasnât working unless I really pushed down on it. I pushed it in multiple times in a row, hoping to adjust something inside. I read another comment on a video that told me this. You do not have to take anything apart from your controller to do this. Hold the trigger (the one on the same side as your bumper) all the way in and hold it. There should be a gap between it and the bumper. Blow very hard in that gap for 5-10 seconds.
Great advice! Thanks Andrew! Sometimes this can help. I don't know about you though but I can't 'blow' for 10 seconds long... that's a long time đđ
Thanks, it was a little tricky but it worked
annoying me how easily and quick you just slipped the bumper on...
i've had my white xbox s controller for 3 months and the RB button doesn't work. I can press it but it's just unresponsive. where do i buy the bumpers to try to fix it?
Hey there!
Can't imagine how frustrating that would be especially just after 3 months!
The problem might not be your bumpers, it could be a motherboard issue. There may be a short in your motherboard for the lb and rb buttons, but you won't know until you open it up and see what's going on - unfortunately some xbox controllers can have these issues.
So for replacement parts, you can generally find them on Amazon, but if you search "White rb lb replacement bumpers" you should be able to find something - what I saw was you might have to buy a set of white parts to get the bumpers.
We are looking at adding replacement parts to our website possibly in the future.
Omg same!
El Taco, if that ever happens again, just blow through the seams a few times, and it should become responsive again.
@@tmanaye or take it apart and clean the crap and dust out good to learn
My lb just became unresponsive after 3 days, controllers suck
My issue was RT wasn't working, wouldn't go down as far as LT. Used your video to take back off and found one screw had come loose and stuck under the trigger. All sorted now. Cheers
this worked and i successfully changed the bumpers however the button still needs to be pushed extremely hard to use rb. But at least now the stick is no longer a problem it is my third string controller but at least you can use it on most games. I also do recommend a metal tool as he has because the plastic prying tools are not very good after one controller

Haha thanks Hunter! Appreciate the feedback! đ
Rip this happened on my LB on an elite controller repairing it tomorrow. But cant wait till November for the new elite I talked to a guy on twitter who help make the new elite controller and he said they fixed the bumper and grip issues on it and they said durability is a high priority for this new controller.

This broke that one piece where you take off the left and right bumper with the middle!!!! Edit: my mistake it didnât break but I did manage to put the controller back to together.
Oh no!!!!
This definitely works however before you go to this effort I recommend blowing sharply into all the gaps around the bumper including taking the batteries out and the holes that exposes as this has saved me so many times
Omg, thank you so much! I was freaking out because I thought I was going to have to buy a replacement but I just held the down triggers and blew into the little gaps and gently pulled the bumpers out clicking them back into place without having to disassemble everything! So when I'm playing GTA and I open the weapon wheel and try to switch weapons, my LB just stops working but it seems to happen when i move the analog stick to the weapon I want.
Weird.. not exactly sure what's going on, but it may be a faulty button and may require a soldering iron to fix. This tutorial is the easier first option to see if it fixes it.

Same. I have an original Xbox 360 controller I normally use, but there was an update that broke support for a few weeks. Warframe killed the Xbone controller I got with my Oculus Rift within 2 weeks... Fortunately an update fixed 360 controller support so I went back to Ol' Faithful. 13 years old and still kicking, although thumbsticks are losing their centre...
When you pull the sticky thing off you get rid of the warranty
That's why you only pull it off half way and stick it back down when you put the controller back together! đ
@The Road 90 day warranty.. Where you can return it if it breaks or somthing within the 90 days
@The Road yea see, it doesnt matter because when somebodys controller breaks its usualy more than 90 days old anyways
They make it seem easy in this video Iâve actually repaired my controller a few times and itâs never this easy. This last time I just gave up the bumpers will not fit on the controller for whatever reason the bumpers when snapped on do not fit properly. Just gave up and bought a new controller
My LB button doesnt response until i press 3-4 times or press it with full force what should i do ? đ€
Ah that's not good! Sounds like a motherboard issue, you may need a new controller đŹ You can fix it with a soldering iron, but I would assume you don't carry one of those around with you. We don't currently have a tutorial on it either unfortunately. Sorry!
hey, this was a problem with mine too, if you see how the bumpers work, when you press the bumper down, it moves the whole plastic peice to hit a tiny button right above the start or select button, in your case and mine, its the left bumper, so its the tiny button above the select button. i took a small flat head and moved that button slightly closer to the plastic piece that hits it, but BE CAREFUL cause if you snap that button off its not gonna work at all unless you figure out a way to stick it back on there. its still slightly weird on my controller, it feels like the plastic piece slips past the button sometimes, but it works WAY better than trying to mash the button as hard as i can during a game. as long as i dont mash it like i had to before, and press it with normal force, it works just like my right bumper. hope this helps
Mines similar but my lil brother broke my lb it works on rare occasions
