    The 35mm f2 is only soft wide open when shooting close range. Medium to long range it is actually pretty sharp. Just a note.

    Excellent. Concise and Right to the point. As I was new to Fujifilm and was looking which one to get for lens in this category, this helped me So much in making my decision

    Thanks for sharing. I have both and i only use the 33
    for my wedding photography I can’t believe how sharp it is and the colors are so vibrant. However for travel and a walkabout lens or for fun family pics the 35f2 is great. If u can afford it and u do a lot of pro work, I say get both.

      Thank you for watching! It is remarkably sharp indeed!

    Thanks for yr great review. Do u think 35mm F2 is good enough for portraits or better to get 50mm F2..?

    • @ThierryGibralta
      @ThierryGibralta  Před 2 lety +2

      That is honestly up to preferences, based on whether or not you like more compression that the 50mm offers. The best way to know is to rent both lenses and try which one you prefer

      @@ThierryGibralta cool thx !!

    Good video. I’m using the XF35 f/2 with the X-T4 and I get really good results (as you mentioned) but I shoot mostly at f/8 and it’s as sharp as I need it to be (even pixel peeping which I normally don’t do) but I understand your point and findings that in some situations the XF33 f/1.4 would be advantageous. Be well and stay safe.

    Can Fujifilm X-T1 works well with 33mm f1.4 ?

    • @ThierryGibralta
      @ThierryGibralta  Před 2 lety

      I have never used the Fujifilm X-T1 but I see no reason why it would not work if it is a X-mount lens. As long as the camera is up to date with the latest firmware, it should work. Make sure to try it out in a shop just to be sure of how the AF behaves before your purchase and see if it works for you

    Great video. Thanks for sharing. However, I wish you have had mentioned the practical differences between f/2.0 and f/1.4 for these focal lengths and what is the difference in rendering.

    • @ThierryGibralta
      @ThierryGibralta  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you for watching and for your feedback.
      Practically, I would say that for low light shoots where you cannot reduce your shutter speed too much (events, streets…) the extra stop of light is very helpful.
      In terms of difference in rendering, I would say that the 33 is definitely more clinical, with sharp and contrasty images. The 35mmf2 is not as sharp (even compared to let’s say the 50mmf2) from f2 to f4 but after that they are very comparable.
      I hope that answers your question

    is XF 35mm f2 good for video or film?

    • @ThierryGibralta
      @ThierryGibralta  Před 2 lety

      One of the problem that I would give it is that it is focused by wire. If you are trying to pull focus manually precisely, you might want to get a manual cine lens in stead. Otherwise if it is just for simple videos, yes it is enough.

    35mm f2 is the best Fuji cron lens for versatility size and price

    • @ThierryGibralta
      @ThierryGibralta  Před 2 lety

      It is a great lens indeed. Not the sharpest of the 3 (that goes to the 50mmf2) but definitely the most versatile

  • @rahxfeng
    @rahxfeng Před rokem +1

    XF35 F2 is small. that is pretty much the advantage. XT body + 33mm is very big.. i rather pick Z6 II and 40mm.

    2:32 That photo on the left is definitely not a f1.4.
