    People don't realize how important the electronics are to an ELECTRIC guitar..... Put some good pickups, and new pots / all new electrical components in an electric guitar and it will sound really nice regardless of how much it's retail price was!

    The quality of craftsmanship of the 2009 Epiphone Sg Special is professionally quality and worth the $330 upgrades I did to it

    First thing I noticed were the knobs. If you hadn't explained that you had the pick ups replaced, I never would've known by just looking at it. You're definitely getting a nice sound out of it. I actually like the pick ups that come standard, and have no plans of replacing them, but, then again, I'm a three chord basher, so the original pick ups suit me just fine, but asI said, you're getting a sweet sound with your upgrades.

    Looks and sounds awesome.. Bought my son a chery satin e1 sg special. Put in passivs emg's, changed nut, knobs, tuners slapped on some crown inlays over the dots on fretboard and guitar looks and shreds as good as my Tony iommi model... Aswesome demo!!

    Nice to hear how upgrades/mods can make a difference. I like those rock sounds.
    I just got one of these. I bought some $40.** Proline tuners, a set of D’Addario strings, and a Graph Tech nut. Just waiting for the nut to arrive in the mail. The neck is like perfectly straight, but the strings are a bit high from the neck. Did yours have a ‘strings too far from the neck’ situation, and we’re you able to adjust it without fret buzz?

  • @twowaymuir
    @twowaymuir Před 6 lety +5

    I replaced the tuners with Grover and the pickups with Seymour Duncan Hot Rod set. (JB bridge, Jazz neck) other than that it's a decent guitar. Stock pickups work but kind of junky sounding. czcams.com/video/EIHfm1iITPc/video.html

    Sounds real nice man. I to have and epi SG But the pro 400. White with Pau Ferro Fretboard. Had mine Plek'd and put a Tusq on it. Plays like butter sounds as good as any Gibson. O wait here come the cryers. Yea man but it's not a Gibson. Yea its and Epi. Just a name on the headstock. Fuck outta here.

    Did that guitar come with a push/pull kill switch on the tone knob? I was playing my yesterday and realized the tone knob is actually a killswitch as well.

    • @NickGoblin
      @NickGoblin Před 2 lety

      Dude, mine has that! I couldn't find anything about it anywhere, I just got it from a pawn shop like last week. It's kind of awkward to push the knob in though cause it has a good amount of resistance.

    lol, doesn't sound much like a gibson, but it does sound good,,, love that SD, i just got mine used yesterday because i wanted something cheap to try my zakk wylde EMG's in, probably could have made a better choice, but i was really surprised how nice it is to play, is there any tricks on getting a little more sustain out of these though??

    What if I wanted my epiphone sg special to sound like a bc rich guitar from slayer? Could I get the right sound by replacing the pickups?

    • @lashistoriasquemecuento3313
      @lashistoriasquemecuento3313 Před 6 lety +1

      Absolutely, you can get high output passives or actives like Slayer does nowadays. What models/brands do you have in mind?

    • @f2detaboada
      @f2detaboada Před 3 lety

      Yeah the SG special electronics are absolute crap, I would suggest buying to pots for bot volume and tone. The pick ups aren't that bad really, but the electronics that they're wired to are.
