- The Valentinos also known as The Womack Brothers included future solo star Bobby Womack along with brothers Cecil, Harry, Friendly and Curtis.
The group began recording in the late 50's in Cleveland and were discovered by Sam Cooke who took him under his wing and signed them to his SAR label. After Cooke died tragically, the group were signed to Chess records.
The Valentinos - "Let's Get Together"/"Sweeter Than the Day Before" recorded Oct 1966 on the CHESS label no.1977.
Mentioned in Billboard Magazine Oct 1966 R & B Spotlights -Predicted to reach the R&B SINGLES CHART.
By late 1965 Soul Legend Bobby Womack was working solo "A Lonesome Man"/"I Found a True Love" with Chess subsidiary label Checker and then a later release on Keymen Records.
Consequently, Curtis Womack took control of "Sweeter" supplying his gritty vocals to this storming rare soul dancer. Cecil Womack and soon to be wife Mary Wells co-wrote the track.

I brought this video to the attention of Friendly womack, the only existing brother of the five womack boys (Friendly’, Cecil, Bobby, Harry and Curtis). I was great friends with Bobby.

@@johndeacetis4707it might of been the 100 Club, I remember seeing it being played there on a Saturday afternoon, a lot of Northerners were throwing down moves we Londoners were totally bemused.

Magic Music spans the generations..gender..geography...this is universal...tribal. We all should dance and celebrate more often. Too bad we had to hide in the dark..back in the day....we should have had open air arenas to dance and strut our stuff. All these partners are so full of energy and FUN. Yeah, we ain't been for donkey's. There used to be a whole section for record sales in the early days ...surprised to see only two or three boxes at this one, until Rob Smith arrived before the chirping birds with his. Still, great atmospheres in both rooms with people dancing and really enjoying themselves.

great vid, love it, i know their are a lot off djs out there who are vinyl junkies and are playing the tunes that, great
but i am an avid northern fan and have been since the age of 13, since 1971, i had loads of vinyl then had them nicked
i now dj for our scoot club and play northern but i do it with mp3s etc, now then there seems to be a lot of snobery towards
djs who use mp3s on the northern circuit, i was wondering if any of you, out there mind if djs use mp3s instead of vinyl just a tnought, i dont care personaly, wether vinyl or mp3, as long as the music is there, and im dancing away you thoughts please thanks for your time, in reading this,

I do the same here in Spain kdeeuk - it's all about the music! Playing vinyl doesn't fill the floor, quality tunes do! Respect to dj's and collectors that have big vinyl collections, but yes there is a lot of snobbery. Some venues in the UK not only insist on vinyl, but it has to be original vinyl. Bit OTT IMHO! KTF!
