Props to this guy, pretty solid for an 8 kyu. Made no obvious bad moves, and you didn't forgive more than was needed for the strength difference. At the end black was up by "just" 10 points. Amazing game to study for us kyu players

Mostly true, but the crosscut at L12 was pretty bad. Furthermore, he played that instantly, which makes me suspect his emotion was playing that move, instead of his brain. I imagine he felt a bit bad after the last few moves, and then just instinctively thought the hane was too much and therefore he had to fight back. If this is how it happened, the real mistake was letting the emotion play the move.

@@maartenmarien I think you're really overcomplicating this. It's just a game, a simple mistake to make in it. Maybe he was confident that he recognized this shape correctly and that the cut is good to do. It's 8 kyu, big mistakes are still quite possible even at such level.

@@Мопс_001Ok, you’re right, maybe I was. I’ll rephrase in a much more positive way: if this player can eliminate plays like L12 from his game, he’ll easily be a few stones stronger.

Appreciate this gentler approach to basics Vs much weaker players: no reading, no killing / punishing, just simple, straightforward moves while trying to avoid winning by more than 10 or so. Nicely done!

lol, one of the neighbors is cutting their grass as I watch this (with the window near me open) and it's giving me the giggles paired up with your lawnmower rants. 😆

    "Quasi", "Numero", "Assolutamente".
Why all these italian words? As an italian 8kyu who watch at 5 am before going to work, i start my day feeling represented.
Good night go players and Dwyrin.

I believe "numero" comes from the memes channel which has a speaker and speaks in some gibberish/English or smth. The most noticeable thing in it is when it says the place of a certain meme (when it's top 10 memes of something)

Maybe its a meme thing but really I think its because Dwyrin is American and Americans like to randomly use spanish sometimes (which shares a lot of words with italian) because there are a lot of spanish speakers in the united states.

Why not? They are just words.

      Casi means almost
      numero means number
      absolutamente means absolutly.

I could hear the lawnmower, but just barely, and probably wouldn't have noticed it if you didn't point it out.

why dont you write that you are doing a teaching game, it's like free money for them and maybe they'll become long term audience. also, being in their shoes, playing against a 9k who plays like a pro feels like getting cheated.

    • @Malestanote

It's an idea, the downside of it is that you can't expect them to play naturally if they know they're playing an 8 dan player..
