So sorry we didn't get to chat to you guys more at Whitby. We were diving off to see The AntiPoet set on the stage. You look like you had a fantastic day. Just as well I wasn't wearing my outfit from the Sunday as you might not have recognised me, there were quite a few who didn't realise until they got chatting to me. I was wearing the official court suit of the Speaker of the house of commons from the 1980s. Hope you avoided the rain at the end of the day. Great to see all the people you met. It was such a fantastic weekend.
I definitely didn’t recognise you on the previous occasion! what a brilliant idea to go as a Speaker from the House of Commons! superb! hopefully get to see more of you at the Lincoln event!
Such a fun event in a beautiful place and I love all of the costumes including Jills 😃 and the way people go to sooo much trouble. The Morris dancers are great helping to create an atmosphere and the live music sounded great. So many people were here and great that they are willing to talk to you. I saw Alans video last week which was really good too and I know he went in that fish and chip shop and enjoyed it 😃Loved the Dean Swoosh and you had a great day for this. Brilliant 👏~ Anna ❤

Haha, yes, I was worried I had the wrong weekend at first too, only me dressed up for the first hour and getting a few strange looks from the locals lol. So nice that you got the South Shields/Fort William crew all in frame, I cut some of their heads off, too busy talking instead of watching what I was filming but lovely people. I loved Ravens Morris, so good and so funny too, especially at the start when they had a few sound issues, all good fun. Despite film of an empty plate, filmed inside Mr Chips, I did feel very guilty enjoying them by myself when Mrs Metalman was ill at home, having said that, it is my turn this weekend, I feel awful :o(. that is the quietest steampunk weekend we have ever witnessed. we are in touch constantly with so many attendees and I think sadly that the July Steampunk which falls in the highest price Whitby school holidays falls exact centre between the two most popular (and way cheaper events in the UK and possibly planet). Fantasy Forest which was held a week previous is the biggest upcoming festival event on the planet and Steampunk Lincoln which is the biggest steampunk event on the planet is coming up soon. I think a lot chose not to attend this year and unless the July Whitby event shifts dates it will find itself in a quagmire of steampunk events that are more popular and cheaper for most to attend. Ravens Morris are amazing, I think between Brid and Whitby I must have two hours of glued to the screen footage of them. love them. loved your Mr Chips eat in, very sad to have missed you, I took the cameo shot from February and put your fish and chips from Saturday on there just to cover your gopro! all our love to you and the lovely Mrs Metalmanxx

@atrampinthehills.841 yeah they were really lovely, they got out priced renting in Cornwall and had to move inland but after a few years were missing the coast but couldn’t afford anywhere down there. They stumbled on our Bridlington worth a visit and top days out videos and made Brid there new home. They were very happy

It must become an expensive past time for participants with so many different events on around the country plus the big Lincoln Steampunk og is in a few weeks! 👍

sadly we are all on high alert after the Southport stabbing. no mass gathering is permitted for the foreseeable, even though the despicable culprit is British with no ties to terrorist organisations. well at least we have a police state. it was a bit quieter, I think how it falls between the Fantasy Forest and Steampunk at the Asylum has made it expensively unpopular.

Hi Andy, yes this was the quietest I’ve seen it. It must be the most expensive event for people to attend being situated in the middle of the School Summer holidays in a popular seaside holiday destination resort. they would be better served holding it at the end of June or start of July. it also sits between two of the most popular events in the UK which are attended by everyone, the Fantasy Forest the week earlier and the Lincoln Asylum which is at the end of August and is the biggest steampunk event on the planet. I’ll be attending the Lincoln Asylum again, hopefully we will see everyone at that event! shame we missed Alan at the event, I went later as the parade usually starts to get ready at 5pm and lasts till 6pm and I really had planned on that being the main focus of the video. Sadly a criminal lack of info on the Southport stabbings meant the whole of the UK was on high terror alert and no gatherings of any kind were allowed. still hoping to get you and your fantastic photographic skills at this event. we need more skilled photographers! 👍 have an awesome weekend
@GENerationXplorers Yeah, I'm hoping at some point to get along to another Steampunk event (I did do one which featured on my photography channel, like this one, it was a quiet affair but I got some shots.) The WGW seems always to take place in the worst of British weather. I'd like to get to the Krampus Run. One issue I have is getting to Whitby early enough for these events. As soon as I say the W word then it becomes a family event and none of them can get ready before 11am!!!

The styles are definitely merging. Steampunk used to be more brown leather, brass and definitely more Victorian costume and machinery. The Goth scene was always rooted in the music, even then you had the punk side and the Victorian goths.
Andy hits the nail on the head perfectly. I think what confuses a lot of people and certainly a lot of goths that watch and don’t attend the goth festival is that, having known a lot of these attendees for several years now, I know they are goth 365 days a year and yet for the goth festivals they like to dress up which really seems to offend a lot of back bedroom keyboard warrior goths! that being said, shockingly at this event there were more pirates than steampunks! I didn’t film any of them as it just seemed odd to me. who knows what we will get at the next event? have an awesome weekend!
@GENerationXplorers I have a goth friend. He's been a goth since the 80s, definitely the genuine article, and used to organise the Whitby Kustom car show. He never sets foot in Whitby when Goth Weekend is on now. I think it's a bit sad (no puns about goths being miserable intended) that some feel it isn't their event anymore and stay out of town.
@OutandaboutwithAndy yeah it’s a real shame, it’s ironic too as I know what a lot of these attendees look like the rest of the year and they are definitely genuine goths, they use the event as an excuse to dress up. It definitely puts off a lot of other goths!

Hi Sanniz it was a lot quieter this year due to the way it fell in comparison to other events around the country it was Fantasy Forest the week before which is huge and the biggest steampunk one in Lincoln is coming up, think due to costs people choose which to attend! Hope this makes sense! Was a shame re parade apparently the country was on high alert so the police were restricting large movements of people 🤷🏻♀️! The copyright thing is ridiculous and can make editing a pain so we try to assess while filming! Have a lovely weekend lovely lady 🖤🖤🖤xx

Hugo says hi Anne! yes I taught on and off from 94 to 2011. enjoyed most of it in the early years but as I grew older just hated it more and more. not just the dislike of people generations younger and more disrespectful but all the extra, additional burdens they put o teaching in general to make it more of an administrative job rather than an educational one. my degree is in business information technology so I was ICT and always dragged in to cover English. teachers are such role models and the current education system has failed them, glad to have left!

Yeah We are surprised and get quite annoyed when people don’t pick up their little dogs when there are so many people about it must be petrifying for them 🐶🙈 Hope you had a lovely weekend and have a great week ahead ❤️

They stumbled on our Bridlington worth a visit and top days out videos and made Brid there new home. They were very happy
Looked another fabulous festival although I maybe wrong but didn't seem as busy as usual. Dratted copyright music might not help. Some great costumes on display and Jill getting in on the act. I thought she'd joined the morris dancing type troupe at one point. Boo to no parade
Don’t give her ideas Paul lol We always enjoy these festivals as you know but this one was a lot quieter than usual but it fell the week after the huge Fantasy Forest event down south. It must become an expensive past time for participants with so many different events on around the country plus the big Lincoln Steampunk og is in a few weeks! 👍

sadly we are all on high alert after the Southport stabbing. no mass gathering is permitted for the foreseeable, even though the despicable culprit is British with no ties to terrorist organisations. well at least we have a police state.
it was a bit quieter, I think how it falls between the Fantasy Forest and Steampunk at the Asylum has made it expensively unpopular.

Looks like a great day out again. Not as busy, I think it's easy to compare it with how busy the WGW gets. Loving Nick's accessorised bucket hat. The 'ghost of Alan Metalman and his fish and chips' as a great edit 🤣
Hi Andy, yes this was the quietest I’ve seen it. It must be the most expensive event for people to attend being situated in the middle of the School Summer holidays in a popular seaside holiday destination resort. they would be better served holding it at the end of June or start of July. it also sits between two of the most popular events in the UK which are attended by everyone, the Fantasy Forest the week earlier and the Lincoln Asylum which is at the end of August and is the biggest steampunk event on the planet. I’ll be attending the Lincoln Asylum again, hopefully we will see everyone at that event! shame we missed Alan at the event, I went later as the parade usually starts to get ready at 5pm and lasts till 6pm and I really had planned on that being the main focus of the video. Sadly a criminal lack of info on the Southport stabbings meant the whole of the UK was on high terror alert and no gatherings of any kind were allowed. still hoping to get you and your fantastic photographic skills at this event. we need more skilled photographers! 👍 have an awesome weekend
@GENerationXplorers Yeah, I'm hoping at some point to get along to another Steampunk event (I did do one which featured on my photography channel, like this one, it was a quiet affair but I got some shots.) The WGW seems always to take place in the worst of British weather. I'd like to get to the Krampus Run. One issue I have is getting to Whitby early enough for these events. As soon as I say the W word then it becomes a family event and none of them can get ready before 11am!!!

The styles are definitely merging. Steampunk used to be more brown leather, brass and definitely more Victorian costume and machinery. The Goth scene was always rooted in the music, even then you had the punk side and the Victorian goths.
Andy hits the nail on the head perfectly. I think what confuses a lot of people and certainly a lot of goths that watch and don’t attend the goth festival is that, having known a lot of these attendees for several years now, I know they are goth 365 days a year and yet for the goth festivals they like to dress up which really seems to offend a lot of back bedroom keyboard warrior goths! that being said, shockingly at this event there were more pirates than steampunks! I didn’t film any of them as it just seemed odd to me. who knows what we will get at the next event? have an awesome weekend!
@GENerationXplorers I have a goth friend. He's been a goth since the 80s, definitely the genuine article, and used to organise the Whitby Kustom car show. He never sets foot in Whitby when Goth Weekend is on now. I think it's a bit sad (no puns about goths being miserable intended) that some feel it isn't their event anymore and stay out of town.
@OutandaboutwithAndy yeah it’s a real shame, it’s ironic too as I know what a lot of these attendees look like the rest of the year and they are definitely genuine goths, they use the event as an excuse to dress up. It definitely puts off a lot of other goths!

Hi Sanniz it was a lot quieter this year due to the way it fell in comparison to other events around the country it was Fantasy Forest the week before which is huge and the biggest steampunk one in Lincoln is coming up, think due to costs people choose which to attend! Hope this makes sense! Was a shame re parade apparently the country was on high alert so the police were restricting large movements of people 🤷🏻♀️! The copyright thing is ridiculous and can make editing a pain so we try to assess while filming! Have a lovely weekend lovely lady 🖤🖤🖤xx

Hugo says hi Anne! yes I taught on and off from 94 to 2011. enjoyed most of it in the early years but as I grew older just hated it more and more. not just the dislike of people generations younger and more disrespectful but all the extra, additional burdens they put o teaching in general to make it more of an administrative job rather than an educational one. my degree is in business information technology so I was ICT and always dragged in to cover English. teachers are such role models and the current education system has failed them, glad to have left!
