Yeah it is weird. I always loved this game. Had such a blast playing through it, soundtrack was excellent, graphics were pretty and levels were so well designed. But yet, the game is so forgettable. When your friend asks for Mario game recommendation, it's not like you would say 3D World or 3D Land. Funnily enough, I can barely even remember half of the game.

3D world is what I actually imagined 3D Mario was going to be like, just the 2D Mario platformers in an isometric format. I think it's a way better follow-up to those old platformers than New Super Mario Bros ever was.

joking aside, ending is insanely good. the carnival shot and the credits shot (5:14) are so smart. it zooms out, and puts things into perspective. you almost think you're watching an official trailer, and then *wham* he throws you for a loop with clips from the old games, zooming out even further. tying all the loose ends. clever edit. very satisfying. also satisfying to not hear someone talking shit about a game studio or game company for once.
But it’s way to easy like there is no difficulty to any of it. Even the later levels me and my friends only died because we were actively fucking with each other to the point that we would push each other off stafe

as someone that played very little of the Wii U version, playing this in 2021 was definitely a breath of fresh air. Feels like a combination of Super Mario World and Mario Bros 3 in a 3D space. Excellent evolution for the series and I hope they make a followup to it.

This has always been a contender for my favorite game of all time and easily one of the most underrated. Just pure platforming and level design at its most inventive. Dunkey fuckin nailed this one
Fr. The game just feels like Mario. Creative levels, great music, and fantastic gameplay in a setting familiar to that of the old games but with new mechanics and 3d views. Phenomenal game.
3D world felt a lot more liner and that felt to different back on the Wii U, but now with the over abundance of open world games I appreciate 3D world and I’m glad I can play it on the switch.
The only difference between the NSMB series and the 3D games is that NSMB recycles more assets and gameplay elements. This gives the devs more time to create new gameplay ideas, which is why each NSMB game has around 80 levels, more than any 3D Mario.
this game came out at a time where people were really itching for something like odyssey, and it seemed like this was the new direction mario was taking so a lot of people were disappointed and didn't realize that this game is actually really fucking good.
I really didn't enjoy 3d world. I wound have preferred a traditional 2d mario or an actual 3d mario game. It's not a bad game It just can't compare to the other 3d mario's.

This has always been a contender for my favorite game of all time and easily one of the most underrated. Just pure platforming and level design at its most inventive. Dunkey fuckin nailed this one

Fr. The game just feels like Mario. Creative levels, great music, and fantastic gameplay in a setting familiar to that of the old games but with new mechanics and 3d views. Phenomenal game.

3D world felt a lot more liner and that felt to different back on the Wii U, but now with the over abundance of open world games I appreciate 3D world and I’m glad I can play it on the switch.
That montage at the end gave me chills, what an awesone video

The only difference between the NSMB series and the 3D games is that NSMB recycles more assets and gameplay elements.
This gives the devs more time to create new gameplay ideas, which is why each NSMB game has around 80 levels, more than any 3D Mario.
@@zerarch77 for some reason I prefer the levels in dk country way more.( Probably because it's a bit more interesting and inventive)
this game came out at a time where people were really itching for something like odyssey, and it seemed like this was the new direction mario was taking so a lot of people were disappointed and didn't realize that this game is actually really fucking good.
I really didn't enjoy 3d world. I wound have preferred a traditional 2d mario or an actual 3d mario game. It's not a bad game It just can't compare to the other 3d mario's.
@@alexhulk6 Why do you have to compare it to them though? Its obvious that this was an extension of the 3D land formula that mashes 2-d and 3-d Mario. Its not meant to replace Galaxy or the other pure 3-d Mario games.
