    Fantastic review, Sean! The results of a great combination of good fortune and careful planning. You've managed to collect a surprising number of unique Standard Gauge buildings and figures. With your eye on careful placing for best effect, you've created a very pleasing setting for the Standard Gauge genre. Bravo! Looking forward to the next episode.

    Looks great! I used the same Lowes outdoor carpet for my o gauge layout. To secure the foamboard for the roads on my layout, I used velcro instead of glue. I only used the rough side of the velcro and stuck it to the bottom of the foamboard. The velcro works great with the low pile carpet, plus I can pull the roads up with no damage to the table surface. I also put velcro under the bases of trees, phone poles etc and it works good holding them down too with no glue mess. It comes in handy if I want to change the layout around.

    it's a jaw dropping layout, it really is. your other layout is special too . your reasons for putting together this layout if i recall, was you wanted it to pay homage to a child receiving their first set, and how they would put it together, well you nailed that brief. it's a thing of beauty

    Really awesome Sean, nice job keeping everything with the tin plate look. I like how you placed the buildings and you gave a good tip on placing the shorter buildings in the front of the layout. I'll keep that in mind as I place structures on my layout. Look forward to the video with all the trains running, the tin plate standard gauge trains are so majestic.

    Beautiful layout Sean. Not really a fan of the blue LEDs, I would to see it with warm white lighting.

      I actually agree when I saw it in the dark, lol. The best part is the color can be changed on the fly to any color in the rainbow! Could use orange for Halloween and Red or Green for Christmas etc.

    I really enjoyed this video. This layout looks great lite up. The room has a classic look. I have the gatemen on my o gauge layout. He’s such a classic accessory. Yes he’s a o gauge giant at the least. I’ve always been surprised Lionel has never made a gateman to scale (o scale). How do you get to the trains on the shelf in the back right?

    • @seanstraindepot
      @seanstraindepot  Před rokem

      I purposely left the back part of the layout more open where I can step if needed. Although what I do is just push and pull the trains from the end of the shelves (keep them all coupled). Unlike O gauge, once Std Gauge trains are coupled they don't come apart until you manually uncouple them, lol. It's really easy to take them on and off the shelves.

    Hi Sean, your Standard Gauge layout has turned out great! A couple of ideas for your consideration; try "bottle brush" trees as you add trees to your landscape. They are usually available at Christmas time at craft stores, etc. They were used with tinplate trains in the 20s and 30s and would look great with what you have done. Second, consider adding a third level of O Gauge tinplate on the wall side of the layout to create forced perspective of distance. Again, what you have done is great and I enjoyed meeting you and Nick outside Memorial Hall at York. Need to get you and nick to visit Virginia at some point. Happy TRAINING! Bill Thomas
