Not only in 2021, this is the best album I've seen in music as a whole. aespa cemented themselves of pushing the boundaries the kpop has to offer. They play with unconventional soundscapes in experimentation and metallic hyperpop textures. I can clearly understand what aespa cemented themselves in musical identity. This hyperpop mini shows how versatile this genre is and this whole album is reminiscent to Thatkid, Sophie and Charli XCX.

I think maybe "eye" is a fine example of how to pronounce Æ. If you hold out the first e sound in "eye", you're not exactly there but close enough. Unrelated opinion to this matter, it's really weird to see the trend nowadays of using Æ and Ø as an aestethic, because my norwegian ass read it as it's written, and I'm here thinking "but wait it's not making any sense... Ooooh"

SM is seriously at the top when it comes to sheer musicianship and variety. the sound is consistent (hyperpop, synthpop, whatever you wanna call it) but each song has their own quirks. Kwangya is not really out of space like Mars, Jupiter and etc. but it's like a different universe - the virtual world that we are all in. Each song on this album is so good and reinvigorated my love for K-Pop. This album gives me 2nd gen vibes but still sounds so fresh and modern and is the epitome of hyperpop. aenergy is a great way to introduce the members, Savage leaves such a strong impression of the girls’ talent, I’ll Make You Cry is so hard hitting and intense, Yeppi Yeppi is super catchy and motivating, Iconic is as the title says iconic and distinct, and Lucid Dream is soft and melodic. Lucid Dream is my favorite though. It’s a nice way to end off the album since the rest of the songs are so high energy that something softer and calming was really necessary. But each song is so good. Super proud of aespa for already having cemented their signature sound. They’re like the girl version of NCT but they’re still distinct and different. Every SM group has the various type of vocalists and they are top-notch, but there are always some members that are considered vocally weak (and often have the least lines). Don’t get me wrong I like their voices, I’m just saying they are not VOCALISTS.

Yeah it's a little harder to judge because SM hasn't put out a lot of unambiguous live vocal (in the studio behind-the-scenes or clearly live mic performances), but between the encore stage after one Savage win and the most recent Savage stage where they were clearly making slight shifts in timing or moves between notes compared to the recording, their vocals sound extremely solid. And I am inclined to agree that they're even more so than Red Velvet were when they were this new. Yes, Red Velvet are more solid now, but they've been doing this for about 6 years longer than æspa. Once æspa have been around for several years, I think it's reasonable that they may even surpass Red Velvet in vocal skills.
