From Model Shop to Gas Port: Early M1 Rifle Production at Springfield

The Garand Collectors Association is pleased to release its latest video 'From Model Shop to Gas Port: Early M1 Rifle Production at Springfield' which provides a behind the scenes look at some of the most historically significant early M1 rifles in the collection at the Springfield Armory National Historic Site. The video traces the developmental story of John Garand's semi-automatic service rifle from the hand built Model Shop guns, to the early gas trap examples and then ultimately the gas port M1s that went into full scale mass production in 1940.
