I can't believe it. I grew up trying to immitate his work, for me he was the highest point anyone's art skill can ever go to. This is so sudden and random, it feels like a bad joke.

I, too, thought it was a joke. Some prank that gained momentum that maybe even Jung Gi himself was in on.
Insane how he thinks he's not at the level of other artists held in the Lotte Exhibition. Artists never lose that mindset it seems
Humble man
It's rather terrifying, yet comforting, to hear someone at his skill level say.
He’s insanely skilled as a draftsman but his skill set is there and not in expression as much. I feel that’s where the disconnect is with museums but he says this when he says ‘a comic artist is invited shows changing times”
Rest in Peace, legend. One of the greatest artist to ever grace this world.

I admire him as an artist but I LOVE him as a human being; so genuine, down to earth and real….. and his weird sense of humour is so addictive and irresistible…

I find it amazing that somebody of his caliber is in disbelief that he would be asked to exhibit his work. In an art world full of people who couldn't shade a cube if they tried, and still insist they are the greatest artist alive, somebody of Kim Jung Gi's sincere commitment to craft, authenticity, catharsis, and innovation will be truly missed. The night I heard of his passing, the world felt like an incredibly unfair place to exist, but seeing the outpouring of tributes and memorials to him gives me some renewed hope.
He sacrificed he’s life for art, and us.
The dream he created in the young he something amazing.
All men should try to do the same.
We want our kids to dream ! To want more ! To do our best ! And above all, Be kind, and work to what you love no matter what!
Thank you Kim Jung Gi, for showing us how great we can be as humans, what levels we can reach if the sacrifice or when decision is made.
Rest in peace Master Kim we will never forget you x
