Considering how open Greek were to same sex relationships it actually fit that you can have a relationship with Thanatos. What annoyed me more is that Zagreus was the sub in both relationships (and in the threesome) even though he's the crown prince of the place and destroys all of the bosses and monsters constantly. Dusa turning you down was actually pretty nice since she was more of an over eager fan that was star struck and her turning you down was more like her getting the confidence to understand what she actually feels.

Same reason a very old person can still technically walk, but often prefers a wheelchair because they can't do so for long and that its very exhausting.
I've always felt that Gamers are way more susceptible to denial than fans of other media because if you buy a game based on deceptive marketing and it turns out to be s**t, it's way easier to fool yourself into thinking its secretly good than to admit that you got played. 60 bucks is a lot for the average person to spend on entertainment.
This^ the other half of that is really asinine story and character decisions are easier to ignore if gameplay is at least passable and people don't like admitting that things they enjoy have bad ideologically motivated story decisions so they kinda gaslight themselves into denial.
To be fair, the game is only 30 USD +tax(variable) still dogshit pandering. They made Hestia a blackface cariacture minus the red lipstick and people are praising it.
Big part of Hephaestus was that he was thrown down the MOUNTAIN as a little child and it only left him with limp. Culture accurate he should have some form of facial scarring as his face was flawed since birth making him deject. But he was in fact so freakishly talented as a craftsman that by the time he was adult he could make an artifacts which in hands of MORTALS posed a danger against the gods themselves so in dire panic they decided to give him a most feminine and beautiful goddess as a tribute so that to avoid making an enemy out of him (and yes this goddess of FEMININITY would be Aphrodite). He was also JACKED. Hephaestus was a god patron of blacksmiths and he was said to be able to hammer the metals with strength even his father, darn Zeus, could not emulate (Yes, Hephaestus was not warrior but was considered immensely powerful as adult). By now I am getting angry. As I said Hephaestus is one of my favorites and world mythologies are my hobby. I was not joking saying he is Stoic Icon. He is basically an epitome of Stoicism. He was given some shitty cards in life (having deformed face, being literally yeeted by parents out of mountain) and some great ones (being extremely patient, extremely talented with his hands, extremely determined and immensely imposing physically) and he just made the best out of everything, also getting arguably most gorgeous waifu available as a literal 'make amends present' from parents. I honestly hate that Aphrodite design. The colours just seem off, she doesn't have full, well defined lips, her skin tone looks kind of sickly and pink hair can work, but they went with the blandest pink possible. Hephestus in a wheelchair seems odd since he seems to have two legs, he just built a replacement.
Speaking of lips... They do not draw her bottom lip, only a line under it. In animation that's the technique used for male lips. Every animator knows this. I learned it in 3rd grade art class. Look at any pre-2016 animation and compare male vs female faces. Females have fully drawn lips, males have a top lip and a line represents the bottom.

I wouldn't mind it so much if they had put a wizard or cleric in a wheelchair, since those classes are historically much less about nimble movement. And a druid in a wheelchair would have possibly introduced an interesting character arch based on class mechanics alone. But having your poster boy be a rogue, a class that traditionally focuses on dexterity and whose class features are linked to this, in a wheelchair, basically defaults to "Let me just make this character that I have created objectively worse at his job". You're supposed to be able to dodge area of effect damage through nimble movement, how do you do that in a wheelchair? Do you dive off it and then need to climb back onto it before you can move at normal speed? Are you a dedicated face, and if so why are you not playing a bard instead? Seriously, a bardlock in a wheelchair might actually be cool...
@@Dragonage2ftw His original "Flying chair" was a charIOT, as in a thing you stand on that's being pulled by horses. Also he's canonically able to craft automatons, which are basically robots, so him having a robot horse would be much closer to the lore.
I ignored the Greek gods that they made black in the original Hades because the story and gameplay were good. From what I'm hearing, Hades 2 inverts the fast-paced gameplay and character-rich interactions on the original, makes it feel like a derivative copy and then shovels DEI nonsense down your throat in the process. All I have to say is thank god for the ~400 negative reviews so far on steam having the balls to voice their criticisms of the game and not just "you can kiss the frog 11/10 game"
What character rich interactions were in the original? Genuinely curious, as I'm not a huge fan of either game (preferred Supergiant's older titles, including transistor). Telgraphing in Hades felt like dogwater especially in comparison to other titles with the story being weaker than previous games they made.
Fun fact hespheastus in the myths, is actually aided by two constructs that he built, to help him move and work. So hades 2 he has a cuck chair. But in the actual myths he's sultan carried by robots. Let that sink in.
From what CZcams showed me over the last week or so - this is a certified California product. A very well made one, granted, but still. The way people speak, the way they look, the safe-horny... The symptoms are all there. I'm sure its a good video game, SuperGiant know how to make them, but... It is what it is.
Not to mention that he's the god of smiths, he works the forge making thunderbolts for Zeus to throw, the big man can't just manifest those things at will, it's WHY he's married to Aphrodite. He's supposed to be reasonably ugly and have a deformed foot, he's not supposed to have a metal leg and sit in a wheelchair, and he's a smith, so instead of all that fat he should be a slab of muscle. Now granted, he is a smith god so him crafting a metal leg to replace his bad one WOULD fit with the general tone of his lore, but as far as I know he never does. Also, if he's got a replacement leg, probably magical, WHY is he in a wheelchair?
Nuada of the silver hand is called hat because he lost his hand and had a new one made by Gibognu (the Irish equivalent of Hephaestus) So it wouldn't be unheard of for those cultures and time periods.

Anyone pretending they can’t see it or that it’s not even there is just straight-up lying - and these people ALWAYS lie.
The people decrying the changes are probably fans of the Fates Series. "Yeah they changed King Arthur and Enkidu into women. But they're cute nubile girls, so it's ok this time!"

I guess everyone gets it now: it's all about people being legitimately intimidated by the cool, badass and beautiful and demanding the opposite to feel better.
Look, I can see a God of Forging have something like a mechanical arm, maybe a mechanical leg, but being bound to a wheelchair should be annoying as fuck and humiliating thing when it comes to the art of smithing. Why Hephaestus didn't decked himself in some sort of Olympian Exoskeleton Armor so he can still working on his masterpieces is beyond me, because Olympians are the definition of prideful to an extreme, pety and/or insecurity, with such examples as Aphrodite being pissy about Hippolytus only worshipping Atalanta, making Hippolytus mother fall in love with him, be rejected, end herself with a note telling Theseus that his son tried to R her, making Theseus call upon Poseidon to end Hippolytus, to the entire screwery that ended up causing the Trojan War. So yeah, if you told me Hephaestus is bound to a wheelchair and done nothing to go back to peak performance, I tell you should know your gods better.

I saw a man the other day walking without a cane with two prosthetic legs so if a regular human can walk with two chair, he clearly doesn't need the chair. But that man was of regular built while Hephestus here is… well… an heir (if not forebear) of Karl Marx.
The people defending "Hades 2," want the woke content, in that game, to be accepted as mainstream, and not just as an isolated niche. They don't just want a small select group of gamers, to like, only the specific woke elements in "Hades 2." They want widespread acceptance of all the LGBTQ, disability, race-swap, feminist, Identity politics representation, in the game, to be seen by all, as the "new normal." So, their defense of "Hades 2," ultimately, is really more their desire for the game's woke ideology, to be more widely embraced.
The funny thing about the first game, It had a character name Dusa the dev for some reason made it possible to "romance her" but she would refuse to be romance.

They want widespread acceptance of all the LGBTQ, disability, race-swap, feminist, Identity politics representation, in the game, to be seen by all, as the "new normal." So, their defense of "Hades 2," ultimately, is really more their desire for the game's woke ideology, to be more widely embraced.
The funny thing about the first game, It had a character name Dusa the dev for some reason made it possible to "romance her" but she would refuse to be romance. Unironically i think that if it was possible to romance her Dusa would be the most romance character in the game and i assume the dev knew that.
Aphrodite really looks like a man, there is no unseeing it.
imagine defeating a god with a short flight of stairs. ancient greece is not known for being very wheelchair accessable, let alone mount olympus.
Actually I'd like to see the og kratos dump him down whatever stairs they installed his mobility lift on to get him up the mountain.
Btw same with Baulder gates 3 and all of Larian games in general
Omg I didn't know about the Hephaestus wheelchair thing 🤣
...He was in a wheelchair in the original mythology.
In fact, his portrait is based off of an old Greecian picture of him in his flying chair.
@@Dragonage2ftw Which has been debated as being more of a chariot. That's an actual wheelchair and was done to check a box not for historical accuracy.

It’s called a chariot.
It’s not a “flying chair.” Read a book.

I agree wholeheartedly. I won't even watch playthroughs of the game. I don't even know who the characters are.

Obviously you do Not know good Art.
The worst thing about these wheelchairs is that they display the utter lack of creativity of these people. All of them look exactly the same no matter the setting.
so..every other thing that is creative is disregarded because the wheelchair looks like a wheelchair? Do you think just making it hover or give the chair tentacles out of nowhere is more creative then?
@@Redcloudsrocksyes a mechanical horse or magic carpet is more creative then a modern wheel chair.

greek gods in myth are supposed to appear as the epitome of physical perfection (the famous "olympian physique), with Hephaestus being the exception. He was born deformed and developed a limp after being thrown down from Olympus by his mother. I frankly don't dislike the idea of a wheelchair per se, if they didn't give him a mechanical prosthetic that is supposed to already compensate for it. I personally would have given him a crutch and a far more deformed appearence, he is also not supposed to be fat, at least not that much.
Greek Gods, right? Then they should all be white, with red hair and freckles, of otherworldly beauty/strength/whatever is their domain suggesting. At most, they could have olive tones and black hair. AT MOST.
idk what else they got but the greece lore and aesthetic they used. Path of exiles is the better game when it comes to gameplay...so idk what they are trying to achieve in the sequel with this butchered greek world
PoE and Hades are two very different games. Not exactly an apt comparison.
I had an argument with someone about this. They said because Hephaestus is lame, they COULD see him in a wheelchair. I said lame doesn't mean he can't walk, and he has never been depicted as paraplegic, even in Greek art. He's a god, who the hell would take a god in a wheelchair seriously? Put a leg brace on him or something. That's at least more badass.
Look at that, you probably used the same statues I used to make my argument.
Hephaestus looks like he's been living in Californya-nya.
They should've given her Festus and mechanical donkey. Considering it was the animal that the Greeks used to represent him and could show off his smithing prowess. Also maybe it could look more horse like as a callback to the Athena horse./Trojan horse
pseudo-Counterpoints: "It's up to interpretation", "it's a different universe" (then why not make up your own shit and not sue greek mythology), "bigotry/racism/misogynie card", "its a southern warm country", "the first game wasn't woke" (bruh), "look at the sexy women!" (disregards androgynous/masculine feature), "white fragility card" ... what else?

WHY WOULD HEPHESTUS THE GOD OF SMITHING MAKE HIMSELF A WHEELCHAIR AND NOT PROSTHETICS?!?!
I like the gameplay but the story so far seems like an excuse to make a sequel than the devs wanting to express something meaningful like in the first game. Though I could be wrong since I still haven't beaten the final boss yet which was where the first game's big emotional payoff was.
The game isn't finished yet.
It's still early access.

man vs bear
Even men choose the bear.
It's not a fair question.
In a fight right? We're not doing the BG3 thing, are we?
@@Superluigi881 there has been a meme that has been going around where a woman has asked the question if she would rather meet a random man or a bear in the woods.
The number of women have chosen the bear, enough for it to both become a news story used by anti men activist groups that pretend to be feminists to say that this proves that men are too dangerous and need to be controlled.
The question ignores that many men would also choose encountering a random bear because another random guy is and iffy prospect if you look at the whole world.
The question also ignores that there are many types of bears beyond the regular brown bears. Like the slightly more grumpy black bears, the more hostile grizzly bears, and the "F.U. I'm going to eat you because your existing near me" polar bears.
The question is also structured in a way that it leans towards getting the answer of a bear instead of a person in the first place.
And the people touting the question also ignore that men have been demonized and vilified for probably longer than I've been alive.
