I agree that the LGHDTV content should be included in the existing rating systems. But the part about hiring censors is not accurate. You can enforce a ban for such games by making sure the company itself labels the games correctly. They wouldn't need to pay an extra censorship scientist because the people who made the game should already know what content is in their own game. And if they fail to label the game correctly and a customer reports the company for mislabeling their product, just fine them with a huge sum (like a percentage of the sales they made in that country). We already have 'protectia consumatorului' in Romania, they just need to have the required legal tools.

The left has changed the rules to work in their favor. We can stand on principle and refuse engage by them and most likely lose. Hey Vee , you should look into Wayworld Realms by Once Lost Games . It's in development and has a kickstarter for the next month or so to help the game get out of Alpha . It's an old-school RPG game with roots that go back to Daggerfall. I'm not sure if it's your genre of gaming , but I'm encouraging any and all to check it out if you're into RPGs

Building on your point about keeping characters the same. If a game makes nonsensical changes to script or plot, particularly woke changes, I will not buy. IE all dialog changes in re4 and the ladder scene etc. These were part of the originals personality.

there are more reasons than "being uninspired" for making a remake. most of them involve the creation of a new engine, or migration of codebase into a new engine. this is done so you can take a lot of old utility code and reuse it without issues, integrating it into the engine and stabilizing the results. this way you still make a product while shipping a game that have nostalgia value(or game that was unsuccessful due to bugs/performance) while giving it a graphical and performance update, bugfixes, and maybe a little bit of extra content. my old combat platformer is one such game(more of a demo because my game dev skills suck) that I plan on porting to a better 2D codebase that I made. because I don't want to re-code an entire engine from scratch(again) and would rather port a moddable game I made to create the new engine with its old components and the new codebase. this USED to be the industry standard, take old game and new engine, merge, let content team and art team do some changes, release as a new game or as a remake of older game(depending on how much changes the content and art teams did). for solo devs it usually means a remake, because you are also the art and content team, so you have little time for things other than engine development when you do an engine migration(probably why most indies use an off the shelf engine and don't swap between them, but I'm stupid).

Just make the thing you want based on what you want. the issue with woke is not the content, its the reason behind the content. Having a gay parents, not a problem. I'm a bit less harsh than Vee but I'm still not buying SH2 remake because the female characters look so rediculously inhuman that it takes me out of the game. I can't feel scared if I'm running around with the female version of tweedle dee and tweedle dum. They look like deformed clowns.

One thing that is seldom talked about is that pronouns in character creation that never come up in gameplay, both female and male models rigged on a male skeleton and generic, non gender-specific interactions with npc (like all npc being suddenly pansexual) make the games cheaper to develop.

As a conservative the argument of "for the children" is at best wrong and at worse evil. We have systems in place that are supposed to help when working in conjunction with adequate parenting and with the advent of video sharing websites there is no reason that as a parent I do not know what my child is consuming. I think it comes down to the 'social contract.' Once it's broken, you can't fix it by being the only party who is still faithful. That said, I draw plenty of lines which I won't cross, and I don't believe in ceding power to government.
