- In this analysis, we will be looking into the fashion and mind of Elvira from Scarface (1983 film). This video will break down her looks in relation to her inner psyche, the ice queen trope, and how the costume design was utilized to tell her story within the framework of the film's overall narrative. From strong suiting to slinky gowns, the character is the epitome of disco chic glam holding a radiance beyond her time with an impact on runways and style today.
This video will also cover the references of her looks from Halston and Studio 54 to the influential decade-oriented elements of the 30s, 70s, & 80s. With this, we can better understand the meanings of Elvira's looks not just as a cold, glamorous love interest; but as a woman self-contained by her addiction and desire for fortune amidst a world of danger and excess.

With this kind of editing, I feel any top fashion magazine industry like Vogue will beg you to work with them. Your videos are really informative but at the same time really aesthetic. I know it is kind of extreme, but you can even replace Anna Wintour.
agree! Anna has been for too long there, it's time for new faces and ideas
I completely agree with this comment
That’s a bit of a stretch lol
No one can do what Ana does the way that Ana does it.
@@Andre0118 I agree.
This channel is the new wave. Simply, blown away. I've watched it on repeat just to dissect the formula:)
She is absolutely the most interesting character in the film.
no she isnt, she is boring, a drug addict, arrogant and lacks personality, i dont even understand what Tony even saw in her, she is nothing but negativity and is clearly a golddigger.
i wish you'd make a film watch list because i love your preference in fashion and the way you articulate your analysis
Thank you, I appreciate it! Such a great idea, I’ll be putting one together 🖤
@@CleverAndChic 😳😳😳 omg
I just have to say, I miss your voice, it had a quality that made your videos so recognizable, whereas now the narration somewhat blends in with other videos I watch and makes it feel less memorable despite the content within. In saying that the editing, research and content in this video is superb! Love it and I had never heard of or seen this character and I think I love her now!
I agree with Maxim Cypher in the comments. The definitive 80s look didn't really catch on until 1984, even the Dynasty women's cast had a lot of the same fashions Elvira wore that same year Scarface was filmed. Elvira wore what people thought was fashionable for that time. Her character was a trophy wife, not a rebel stylist.
The epitome of beauty and glamour. She was the best part of this film. The rest of Scarface, it’s constant brutality is evident in so many other exploitive films.
It's a gangster film and it's violent in parts but not that much,if you dont like those type of movies don't try and make out their bad, scarce is a classic and you sound a posh snob
This breakdown of the character is excellent. Scarface if one of my favourite movies and until now, watching this video, I did not realise just how much Elvira's clothes said about her. Well done, I absolutely loved watching and learning. Thank you.
Elvira is so classy, minimalist and a true inspiration for my style. Thanks for the video! Please make a style analisis about Vilanelle from Killing Eve!
dress with long dresses which leave back, shoulders and upper chest exposed and act like a bored robot on coke.
technically she's a flat, one dimensional character, but somehow the way the viewer gets to know her during the movie makes her feel like a deep person.
the late 80s is when the power suit became popular, the early 80s..82 when this was filmed was still very much wearing Halston dresses, sleek lines..late 70s with more glitz and color than the hippie holdover early 70s. Then 80s hit full stride in quintessential 80s by 84-85 with bold prints, big shoulders, ruffles, pleated fabrics
Can you do an analysis of Catherine Tramell from Basic instinct. I loved her style in that movie..
Owed alot to Kim Novak's look in Vertigo.
Gorgeous clothes and a brilliant character.
Yasss, please!
I absolutely loved Elvira’s wedding dress. And the perfect face and simple straight hair above those halter top dresses Wow!!
I'll never forgive some of you for bullying her out of using her voice.
Lmaoo
it was not bully-it was that it was impossible to finish her videos , her intonation was too weird and impossible for not native speakers. her videos are interesting but it was seriusly too much
@@ukelicious123 agreed
@@ukelicious123 yes agreed. I stopped watching her videos for months because her vocal fry and elongated vowels became unnecessarily excessive. I appreciate the research efforts she places in her videos. Everything she creates is high quality content. But I’m sorry to say her voice really did become more obnoxious as the videos progressed.
@@aruytpadyugf Is this a mechanical voice? I think this is a terrific video. It’s the first one of this channel that I have ever seen. I’ve always loved how Michelle Pfeiffer looks in this film. It is such an important role and it would have been ruined by anyone else in the part.
This was Michelle's break out role. She carried much on her shoulders...that were gorgeously featured in Scarface. Incidentally I met Al Pacino in New York during the opening of the film. He was performing 🎭 on Broadway.
This topic is so underrated! It definitely doesn't get enough recognition now. Thank you for this video
I’m so happy you went over her loungewear! It was so dazzling 😍😍😍😍
Hey! I love your videos but I really miss your voice. It brought that little extra ✨that made the video *chef's kiss*. I figure there's a reason you probably stopped doing it but I just wanted to let you know I miss it x
Miss the previous voice overs too!
I think it’s because people kept bashing her for her vocal fry.
This is the kind of content I've been looking for for ages. Thank you soooo much! I'll make sure to watch all of your other videos.
I feel like I've been waiting for this video ever since I found your channel. I ordered a white satin dress and matching robe last week, and I've been thinking of going back to his hairstyle for over a year. Fundamental style root for me haha
we miss your voice!! 💔
I’ve always loved Elvira’s fashion.
I never saw Elvira as glamorous, despite expensive fabrics she used, Elvira looked out of place in the glamorous 80s, almost like she's always wearing a nightgown - echoing her own mental state as you put it so well - she is not herself, lost in drugs and depression, as if always asleep.
YOUR VIDEOS ARE SPOT ON
You didn a great job. Your content is very high quality ❤
She's an ICON 💚💚💚
one of my favorite characters. love her and this film
Great analysis! This is my favorite movie of all time; and I've watched it so many times because of the amazing aesthetics.
The vice city 80s vibes just hitted diff frl
Elvira is more like a “snow”queen😉
The intro! Omg love love love
I love the work you do on these videos. I understand why you changed the voice but I miss it. So glad to subscribe.
I loved this analysis from beginning to end.
Melanie Trump clearly never forgot the white suit in this film b/c she was obsessed with wearing it to some political event that was written about in Stephanie Winston’s exposé book
Love this! OMG! Love this!
Never disappoints, you are awesome ❤️
So good! This video has motivated me to watch Scarface for the first time :)
your commentary is more than i could have ever hoped for. tragically, insightful.
This was well thought out!
I'm a hardcore fan of your videos and I don't mean to be annoying, although, where is the other girl?
Her voice was *so* pleasant and clear.
It's the channel's creator. She started off narrating the videos by herself but so many hate comments would appear talking about her voice that she stopped using it in recent videos. I miss the voiceovers too to be honest.
@@bleepbloop8081 it's so sad. I really miss her voice because it was so soothing and gave these videos a more personal note
@@mieke109 it was too slow and sounded to try on and seductive thats what the most comments stated. That gets to you after a while especially when the video is long. Its like these commenters didnt know you can turn the speed to 1,25x and it was fine. Still no need for bullying her
@@malena5026 I guess that's where opinions differ. Sad that she let it get to her because I really loved that it was more slow paced. It helps when you're not a native speaker and I loved watching the videos in the morning while getting ready when understanding things might take a lil time. Just hope she'll come back one day
Amazing break-down and analysis.
We want your regular voice back. Fuck the haters!
coolest channel ever!! u always blow my mind!!! ✨🧠💐
Your editing skills ✨
you are so kind!! you are loved, beautiful soul
Gonna go check this film out now 💖
I call this the Barbie doll syndrome. You attach yourself to a narcissist. The narcissist love bombs you then devalues you. Devaluation period shreds everything you've even felt or thought, no longer are you a person but a appliance. You spend all your time trying to appease the narcissist until you eventually just go numb. You have been devalued to a point where nothing is fun, nothing is shocking, everything is a appearance. Elvira woke up because Tony was not a narcissist. He had no idea how to keep the control.
Cult leaders use this.
What a great insight ! thank you, she is one of my favourite characters in film.
missing ur voice /cries
Beautiful video
Ouah ! Cool analysis. Thanks. Keep up ! I'll check other content.
Please do more !
I've been *waiting* for an Elvira Hancock style analysis, I don't think there are any others on here! Although I really believe the voice over the top really takes away from the effort of the video.
Great videos
I love her i think Elvira is underrated
The beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer ✨
Perfection 💎
What a great performance by Mchelle Pfeiffer ! just a still image of her face gives you a full story of her life if you know how to read.
Please your voice back. I miss it.
love thissssss, but pls come back with your voice, it was so chic!
Brilliant as always, I miss hearing your voice express it though 💕
I miss your voice so much
hi!!! can you do a style analysis of lexi howard from euphoria!! :)
The movie seemed influenced by American Gigilo, which really launched the Armani style for the eighties.
I'm an Independent Latino, Halston indeed!!!! Halston is King!
Omg do ginger from casino next !
This movie came out when I was a kid. As a young gay boy I was always drawn to Elvira's fashion so to find this video is sooo cool 🥰
This is a kind of weird ask... Can you make a video about disney princesses dresses how are based on the time was made instead of the time in the movie
We miss your voice!!!!
You should do villanelle from killing eve!
yessssss please
Good stuff. To me she represents the Uber cool girl , you would see in the clubs back in the day , unattainable ,no matter how much money 💰 or charisma you had , or didn’t. I would argue that Tony is confused 🤷♂️ between wanting a trophy 🏆 wife and somebody who stops at home and looks after his children, and his immaturity and addiction leads to his rejection of her , he rejects her initially , she is the ultimate American dream 😴 wife , who because of her addiction, can’t fulfill his idea 💡 of the dream .
I think she is at least as interesting a character as him , and superbly casted . Apparently some of the dresses 👗 hardly had any fasteners, as they seem to float on her form .
miss ur voice :(
Michelle perfect in this movie and so beautiful
I don’t mean to be annoying but i miss your voice!!!
we miss your voice!!!!
Can you do jude law?
Wow
What happened to your original narrator? This voice sounds robotic.
Paola Bracho!!!
the way id describe her style is material meets flesh. it doesn't even look like she's "wearing" anything
Remind me of Samantha from sex n the city
Slinky gowns look great on slim women
yee
We miss the old voice
First!
i get why you use this voiceover now but ahh i miss your voice...almost had an asmr quality to it
its like this but for real. it doesn’t have to be.
Um, there were 0 "flickers" that would qualify as "talkies" in 1846. Perhaps your scriptwriter and video editor could correct this error? 1946 is the correct date of copyright of "The Postman Always Rings Twice."
Lol lui 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
to be honest, i like your real voice much better, i watched your MM AH video and came to this after, and was dissapointed with the robot voice.
I miss your voice.
Hard to keep that glare all the time.
I hate the new voice... WITH A PASSION
This God awful voiceover I miss your voice
She's a terrible dancer.
The weird stress, pronunciation, odd word spacing and deadpan intonation of the computer-generated voice rather ruins an interesting video. Had to stop, lol.
Jezus...what a exagerated language ..
shes not a women -its a man
What??
Wishful thinking lesie
Blah blah blah!!!...OVER RATED....She was dressed for Studio 54 and not for Miami.
She's the most unlikeable character in the film. Even more so than Tony who is at least entertaining and you know where he's coming from. Elvira marries a known criminal then complains about it later. In fact that's all she does is complain, do drugs, and spends money. She's completely insufferable. Gina was a much more likeable character.
I know this video is about fashion, but I wanted to put my distaste for Elvira somewhere :P. On topic I didn't like her dresses either.
