Real Depeche Mode for me: Dave, Martin, Alan, Andy. The legend! I love Depeche Mode with Alan Wilder.

Even with a stripped back stage, wasted, fatigued & frustrated personnel...they still performed more powerfully than their live shows today. Even at their ugliest, low time they couldn’t put on a bad performance. THIS is the DM I know and love. The DM now are just wannabes.

Good to see Dave is relatively sober here and performs well, he still sings Condemnation. Fletch is still here. Everything seems good so far.

I was at the June 1994 show in Dallas. My 1st DM show. At that time....it was my fave. I've seen DM 6 times.

    RIP Fletch.

The percussion at the intro is low-key greatness. It's nuance that no amount of pounding by the band's current stand-in will never capture.

The "Exotic" leg of the Devotional tour. Saw all 6 of the Joburg concerts. We didn't get the fancy equipment that the main tour got such as the huge screens etc, but when a band puts on a performance like this at the Standard Bank Arena, 6000 people, you can only appreciate it, and towards the end of the month, after the Cape Town and Durban shows, the stadium was only half full, so 3000 people. Amazing shows.

The 4 piece band, glorious. Dave singing "Now I am Clean", ironic.

Daryl Bamonte was drafted in as Fletcher’s replacement for the rest of the tour, spending a week in Hawaii being coached by Wilder. ‘Alan felt that a session player would be much more accomplished but they wouldn’t know the songs, so it would be much harder,’ says the friend-turned-roadie, tour manager and replacement band member. ‘I wasn’t asked, I was told. Dave phoned me up when we were in Australia. He said, “Fletch is going home, you’re playing keyboards.” I was like, Oh, OK. I think it was a natural thing. I would have

With more rock set up, more live performance and more live drums it was somewhat prototype for DM later shows.

THIS IS REALLY GOOD PART OF THIS SHOW!

Is this from a devotional tour? Where is the awesome stage with video cubes and hanging decorations and such? Or did they get tired of setting them up at the end of the tour?
