Ego the Living Planet is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appeared in Thor #132 and was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. Kurt Russell portrayed the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Ego is a character that could have easily been a been threat for the MCU as a whole. Like Avengers level threat. Not that I didn't enjoy him in GotG Vol.2, but I believe he could have been a whole lot more.
In the Thor run, when he was fused with the Necrosword, that was extremely dope. His power levels there were something else for what he was able to do.
Ego fits gotg2 story so well it would be cool to see him go all out though

Ego/ Prime, Alter Ego, Id and Super Ego would be interesting if they were all unified in conjunction with each other.
I wabted to see more from Ego the living planet in the mcu, but we got what we were given. It wasn't my most satisfying impression to be completely honest, but it was just ok how it was presented.

I hate ego for the pettiest of reasons. Every time I hear the words “Ego the living planet” I immediately want to go “Oh shut up comic books. Just shut up.”
It’s the kind of thing only comic books could come up with in my mind and I just can’t deal. No hate for the stories and creative appeal of the character.

It’s an interesting idea for sure. Wasn’t there a planet that became a green lantern or something akin to a planet? For me it is a lot more about what you do with a character than the makeup of that character. What I mean is the idea of ego is more complex and arguably more creative than the idea of spiderman or batman, but the stories you can tell with that idea. Well I think you know where I am going with this.

Don't you mean, "homosuperiors"? I highly doubt that the completely outmatched human race stands a chance against the mutants of the Marvel Universe. Not even after bonding with future AI, like in the Hickman X-Men reboot.

Hey Comics Explained--seeing that shot of Rom the Space Knight brought back some memories. Why not do a series on comics/spinoffs that failed? It would give you a chance to flesh out some of the more obscure characters nobody's heard of, give your view on why the series didn't make it, and maybe give some background as to what motivated the company to do it in the first place.
Big, powerful characters are always interesting, but so are big mistakes. And I think with the New Warriors on the horizon, now is a good time to start exploring some of the mistakes :)

Ego gets a big red thumb up! I understand and appreciate the changes made to him in the MCU, but still love his OG comic history.
I always enjoyed seeing Ego sense I saw him in the old Silver Surfer cartoon.
I did think he was weird in the Protectors of the Galaxy series, but I still enjoyed knowing he's still an active character.
hum... I'm surprised to learn Ego had a twin and very impressed.
IMO it's very lame how they defeated Ego in GOTG 2. He's freaking powerful but his one weakness is small beings planting c4 in his core.
Just like the death stars one weakness was that tiny little vent that someone crazy enough could shoot a rocket right into.

That movie is amazing but when they started fighting and eventually defeated ego I just couldn't believe it. They have literally 0% chance to do anything to him. Maybe if they do a full reboot the mcu in the future hopefully they will be more loyal to the comics.

Didn't start appreciating the character till I was in my twenties. When he wasn't very prevalent. This led to me digging in the crates etc.
I like the idea of Ego Prime. It makes him feel like a a more complete being, more relatable. Now I'm imagining Tony giving Ego Prime a solar system sized Iron Man suit.

True form darkseid doesn't really need a video.. It's pretty obvious how powerful his real form is.
True form darkseid is hard to quantify TBH. I mean, all the new gods are supposed to have huge true forms but when Orion fell he didn't do any damage to the multiverse. I think it's the hole that darkseid fell through that made him damage the multiverse, which isn't even infinite to begin with. Only 52 universes. Marvel has an Omniverse so the scale is kinda different

The idea of ego throws The Marvel Universe a curve ball from the left and people don't expect it. I like the concept of ego as I do other cosmic beings b/c it's not about powers in their stories it's more abstract and subtle. The idea is creating a story on an existential level that will draw people into it with these powerful beings. So more stories with Cosmic beings would be cool. Like a mini series where the Celestial's debate life and death.
Rob vs series : Ego the living planet vs Mogo of the green lanterns. BOOM! Your welcome. Lol
That's like matching Howard the Duck against Donald Duck just because they're ducks with violent streaks. There's no contest on either competition. Ego would easily dominate all other "living planets" since he's practically celestial level in power. Mogo has the power of the green spectrum and that's it. He may be able to teleport and time travel with help, but Ego outclasses almost every individual universal entity (not multiversal) in either DC or Marvel.

you forgot the Exiles story where Ego tries to get it on with Earth and becomes enraged when the planet doesn't reply, so grants "her" sapience via infecting it.. he's even more powerful than most think.
Honestly, all things considered, GotG Vol II did a really good job doing Ego justice.
