I agree 100% with what you said about shows and movies!! When there are very harmful scenes in it (people hitting each other or someone being cheated on for example) it LITERALLY hurts me. My chest feels tight and I get very very emotional about it. Nobody around me seems to share that with me tbh 🥺

    • @AnnieJaffrey

Yes same!! And it seems to be so normal which is what is so insane to me 😅 I think what we consume, and essentially we give energy to, we MANIFEST long term. And I can tell my body doesn’t like it, so rather watch and relax to things that feel better and more positive (or at least neutral). Anyway glad I’m not the only one who feels like that hehe, lots of love to you 😘❤️

A very relaxing show I came to love is called good witch. All 7 seasons are on Netflix. The vibe of season 7 was off for me (this season had different writers and it turned a bit more serious) and I skipped 3 episodes in the earlier seasons that were a little more intense than I wanted to watch, but still super gentle compared to regular shows.

Agreed about shows!! I’ve even started to feel this way with music as I’ve gotten older. I have to listen to easy listening, acoustic, positive music at home to keep my space positive. Even if music is too loud, I feel anxious.

I absolutely agree with how violent tv shows and movies affect some of us more than others. I literally just researched this topic. What I discovered is that people who are more sensitive to what they watch and listen to are often also more sensitive to allergens and medications. This perfectly describes me and it was almost a relief to discover that I’m not alone. I loved watching Mrs. Maisel, but my favorite thing to watch at night are CZcams travel vlogs and YOU, Annie!! Thank you for being such a positive, beautiful and caring influence in this crazy world.❤️

What If and sex life we’re both good series of Netflix. 😊 Also if you can get it online, there’s a series called Escape to the chateau on channel 4 (uk). There’s 8 series now but it’s just lovely. It follows a couple from the uk and their family buying a chateau in France and doing it up, turning it into a business but they do a lot of it themselves. She’s a designer and he’s an engineer/chef. It’s just magical how they’re bringing the place back to life! They have a beautiful walled garden and make and mend things. It’s just so feel good!!!

Soo true about night time viewing. I would usually watch some "trending" show on netflix at night and stay up late for no reason. Waking up anxious and super tired. I have stopped doing that for the last month and noticed a HUGE difference in my mood. I am happier and feel lighter. I think these days people are so stuck on keep up to date with netflix and fitting in, we forget what it does it our energy.

You are so sweet Annie. I can´t recommend any Netflix shows but I love Jonna Jinton CZcams channel. It is like meditation, so sweet, relaxing, beautiful. She is like an angel. I think the same way, that negative and violent shows affect us much even if we don´t understand it right away. Also the very popular and violent shows are watched by young kids and teenagers and their brains are still developing. They can´t understand that a show might have some hidden meaning other than violence etc. I really makes me sad.

The violent shows really hurt my heart and I feel like I am in physical pain which lingers on for days if not weeks for me. I stopped watching things like that. It is so strange to me that our society actually enjoys these. I once asked my therapist why are these shows even allowed to play, she said studies have showed that these types do better than just good vibe shows with the general population...I am sticking to home improvement shows.

I totally feel you when it comes to the TV shows thing. So interesting to see how many people feel similar to me. I learned, that how much things like that effect us has a lot to do with our relationships and the experiences we made - like how much inner distance we have towards the content. I really recommend Virgin River on Netflix (although thrilling or sad emotions play a part here - the way how people act, work through trauma, evolve and overcome things is amazing. It has such a cozy and relaxing vibe to me)
Even less tension is in Sweet Magnolias and The Good Witch (both Netflix), Hart Of Dixie has more drama but no violence (but it's hard to find online) and of course good old classics like Gilmore Girls 🤗

I loved the bit where you talked about movies and TV shows. I´ve always loved thrillers and crime movies and shows, but as I get older, I´ve gotten more sensitive and realized exactly what you were talking about: how much of the good energy these kind of shows take off from me. I spend so much time trying to take care of myself and my energy (affirmations, meditation, etc.) and then, just with a few minutes of watching something nasty, it´s all gone. And it´s worse when it´s right before sleeping, because it really affects my sleep. So I´ve said goodbye to a lot of the trending shows. Nowadays, whenever something gets dark or violent, even if I´m getting curious of what will happen next, I immediately switch it off and choose another thing. Thank you for the suggestions too. I´m always looking for uplifting things to watch. Love from Paraguay. :)

The energies surrounding us being very strong at the moment, I totally agree with you regarding the effects on our bodies from these TV shows... So I suggest you watch "Emily in Paris" - Paris being my favourite city, it sort of was "my" series 😆Plus it is funny and full of good vibes xxx

What you said about what we watch and how it affects us is SO true!! I watched this series called "Media on the Brain" by Scott Ritsema after noticing how certain shows were affecting me and it was so eye opening.

Annie , I so agree with you regarding the violent content of many of today's shows. I too am a Gilmore Girl fan & saw it on its original run here in the U.S., believe it or not, my bachelor uncle was the one who turned me onto it thinking I'd enjoy it (my mom ended up a single mother & we both were close like Rory & Lorelei)& he was right. Perhaps you've already seen this series since it's in its 10th season & that is CALL THE MIDWIFE, it is a British production we get it here on public television. I always go away uplifted & inspired after watching it. To summarize, it centers around a small group of nuns & civilian young women who are all midwives in the East End of London (which was where the poor & disaffected tended to live) It began set in the '50s but now is in the mid 60's so just the 'mod' fashions are fun to see. However, it is the beautiful characters & their kindness, decency & love helping the women of that community prepare to give birth that is so inspirational. Each prospective mother has a story of their own that the midwives are drawn into. I know you are anxious to become a mom so this show probably will be of even greater relevancy & appeal to you. You don't have to be Catholic (I'm not) to really appreciate this rare gem. Note: at the beginning of the show there is a warning about the content not being for everyone, this is only because the birthing scenes are done very realistically, there is no actual violence, foul language, nudity or sex (except for the fact these women obviously had sex in order to become pregnant!) & the bedroom scenes typically involve cases of homebirths nothing more). I also love Masterpiece Theatre (again the Brits) when they have series such as Victoria (the life of a young Queen Victoria - the costumes & sets alone are worth watching for!)or Poldark (a sweeping period drama set in Cornwall) for my romantic nature & how could I forget Downton Abbey! There are many more I could suggest but right now need to get supper going, but thank you for sharing your life with us, the kind & gentle person you are completely transcends the computer screen.💐🤗

i agree with u on the shows, which is why i cant get into Squid Game! i watched two episodes and couldn't take it. If you want to dabble into korean dramas though, I think "Start-Up", "Hometown Cha Cha Cha", and "Crash Landing on You" are really good ones. There are funny moments, dramatic moments, and some more emotional but always a really happy ending!!

I totally get you about the TV show thing. I need to watch something that isn’t too triggering before bed. I love Virgin River on Netflix, it’s such a cozy and feel good show. The Morning Show is amazing too! Jennifer Aniston and Reece Witherspoon are both fantastic in it. Also started watching the Great British Bake Off once a week which is such a treat 😊

Omg yes I don’t get that show, I literally watched the first episode with my eyes half shut. I don’t even think we finished it cause I thought “WHAT is this?” 🤣🙈 But Mo ended up watching the entire season by himself and really liked it so 🤷🏻‍♀️ We all have our unique preferences hehe. We have to find what works for us, and honor that! Thanks for your sweet comment!

I’m so glad to hear that I’m not the only one to feel this way about films and shows that I watch 🤗 I think that there are enough things to be scared of, worried about or sad about in our lives, so that I don’t need any more stimulation of that feelings from my leisure activities, and these should make me feel comfortable, happy and inspired instead :) Just like your videos ❤️ thank you so much for recommending Gilmore girls, such good vibes, loving it 😍🌸✨

They are all so wholesome and great. When Calls the Heart on Netflix is also great. I agree these types of shows are so much better. Also, the Great British Bakeoff is great.

Annie, i’m a big fan and love your spin on positivity. However, I do think it is possible to be too structured and rigid and I think sometimes that can also be stressful- do you ever have moments where you “let loose” and don’t feel guilty about it… just my two cents..
