The Nike Phantom GX has been a hit! From a popularity standpoint, it's one of Nike's most successful football boots outside of the Mercurial series in quite a few years. But is they hyper warranted? Are they really that good?

As legendary as the OG Hypervenom have became you should do cleats closer related to that one. Heck, could even make a series of some OG cleats and what modern cleat comes close to them.
Finally got my pair after missing out constantly and I absolutely love them
I’ve had so many cleats in my life of playing but the GXs are by far my favorite. I customized them to be black and white and they’re still insane after playing with them for a while probably gonna get another pair once these wear out highly recommend

Been using them for a while in the AG variant. After multiple games on AG the gripknit only had some really minor damage which is totally fine imo but after 2 games on FG I feel like the gripknit got dirty and isn't as "sticky" anymore unfortunately. Other than that its still a really nice football boot and 100% satisfied by them.
I have an AG pair and have noticed the grip knit has deteriorated slightly after use (tbh I like the slightly less grip)
Where did you even find an AG pair? I cannot find them anywhere online
@@christiana3052 I bought my Fusion ones from Nike directly. But here in Germany also basically all retailers have the elite model with AG soleplate.
I literally bought them 1 day before this video was published. They are so so great for shooting, probably the best boots for shooting available. Rockets were coming from my feet.

I recently got a Nike id version with the collar. They feel amazing but if you want the DF version, invest in a shoe horn. They're impossible to get on without one and I needed someone to pull them off.
GX is the first boots that make me felt like I'm a better player when I use it. Comfort, Grip, Mobility and probably styling is 10/10 for me.
Oh but one thing. I felt like the stickiness substance/finish felt "off" too quick. It's still sticky when play but if you touch it with your hand, brand new vs used one felt completely different. Idk if it's matter tho because I never felt it's worse in the field.

Just gotta get a spray bottle with water in it. Spray the upper and wipe off the dirt before playing. Works for me. Restores the grip
@@pyro2957 tried both pros of gx and vapors I picked vapors cause of lockdown one thing I noticed is you cud move you two incredibly easily in the boot cause the inside is slippery and I personally didn't like that

tried these in the shop and the toe box felt so cramped, felt small and going up sizes didn't really resolve anything, it just resulted in a lack of lockdown.
Scored my first college goal in them too :)
Been a merc/superfly guy since 2014 with a couple bouts with tiempos. Tried these on and I loved them, wanted to buy, but the toe box is just too narrow. This was really surprising because I have never had this issue with the mercs; I also had this issue to a largely less degree with the new tiempos, but it was still there. Really upsetting, they're just so thin and free. Back to mercs.
Been waiting for a worthy replacememt to my Phanton VSN elites.... The Phantom GT's just didnt work for me and my feet wouldn't adjust. I'm hoping the GX are like the VSN again as my VSN elites are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned.
I still wear my AG Vision Elites when we play on turf in winter.
Visions are a fair bit more comfy in my experience

I just returned these. I wanted to like them. I really liked the grip knit texture and feel. Especially shooting. For me the heel just wasnt locked in enough - there was actually some open space in that shoe for me. I do have a real small foot tho. I also wasnt super crazy about the stud pattern. I do think these are solid boots.

Had the same thought. Gave them a second try then decided to buy a second pair, 1/2 down and it went from 6/10 to 10/10 for me!

I had the same problem with the low cut version but every boot reviewer was saying the heel was more locked down in the DF version so I got those and loved them. The heel lockdown on the DF Phantom GX is amazing.

I wear a 10.5US in Adidas Speedportal.1 but a 11US in the Puma Ultra Ultimate. What size would you recommend for the GX?
What size should i get for these? There are no boots in these for me to try in store, but i did try the tiempo legend 9 and a size US 9.5 in those fit well. i also have a pair of mercuiral superfly 8 elites which are us 9, but ive worn them and they stretched to the point they are too loose without having double socks or 2 insoles.
Josh have Nike cleats become longer because I remember when I would wear phantom venoms , they would fit perfect with no extra space tts but with the new Mecurial and phantom gx they fit good width wise but feel like I have too much space in the toe and my shoe size has not changed
Same here, I usually wear size 9 tts on my mercurial and when I got the phantom gx for size 9 the toe box is too tight. Had to settle for 9.5 at the end with some room left which is not ideal, oh well
I just got these and have worn past hypervenoms in a 8.5… Got these in an 8.5 and have annoying space in the toes.
Are these good for mens leagues though like in the UK or Canada where you get hacked like crazy. Hard to upgrade from my GT 2's to these which seem to have less protection. Don't really care for a broken foot.

I love these boots. They're definitely not perfect though. I do think Nike needs to acclimate to a more true to size fit with these if they want to maximize capabilities in the boots concept. They're crazy to put on and off your feet. Past that, I think they're amazing for what they're made for.
What size do you recommend? Half size down or actually true to size ??
@@VQ_JPOV That's a wild one, I guess it depends on foot shape. I'm flatfooted, so I actually went a half size up. I personally don't know where these claims of a half size down are coming from. Just for comparison, I've heard some of the same people who got the phantom a half size down, go and get the predators true to size. I own predators as well, no way in hell that makes sense when the preds are roomy in comparison.
@@VQ_JPOV Sorry for rambling but yeah, I'd probably start at true to size unless you have wider feet, then do what I did. I think what a lot of people are mistaking as sizing is actually fitment. The fitment is different with these boots because they have a pointee toebox, so people who have narrower feet that can fit in the toebox can afford to have that snug feel.

Speedportal still has that for the most part. Beyond Adidas, I think the current Mercurials have a standout soleplate in terms of feel

Would you think it's okay to use the FG version on artificial grass and turf?
Yes you can. I had the AG-Pro version of these shoes in February, but the outsole cracked after 3 sessions (reviews learned me a lot of other customers had this as well). This week I bought the FG version of the Phantoms and I tried them yesterday for the first time, on artificial grass. It was really nice, the studs are way less agressive than most other FG shoes, and not too long as well. So you can definitely use FG Phantoms on AG. Wouldn’t use them on turf though, but great for AG.
Personally I wouldn’t. Especially not on turf but I’ve seen people in fact most wear FG on AG turf. I was always told not to risk it but after seeing so many people wear FG on AG and playing fine I assumed that you would be okay to wear them. Recently however I saw a teammate try and get a loose ball and his foot stayed planted and he ended up rolling over onto it. It was crazy to see. I wouldn’t risk it personally, all it takes is one sharp turn.
Its gonna do numbers cuz Haaland is wearing them and the placebo effect of being able to score 35 goals a season lol
Posting this comment in regards to comfort feedback for anyone out there like Josh this is subjective but I’ve tried on the speedportal +, copa pure .1, predatory accuracy +, Nike mercurial zoom vapor 15 elite, and the new low cut phantoms featured in this video.
I ended up going with the predatory accuracy + they were the most comfy out of the box and my feet are standard width for context. In second I’d go with the copa .1’s and in third the mercurials. Not a fan of the speedportal (find the speedflows if you can) or the new phantoms fit wise. Performance wise love the predator accuracy but definitely going to try the copa .1s soon. Texture wise wasn’t all that impressed with the phantoms I’m still hoping for the og hypervenom sensation again and these new phantoms were not it. Still want to try the furons and new puma king ultimates. M
The studs a SOOOO small for FG. That’s coming from a guy who has worn the mercurial.
Okay so I have the new vapors, these boots and the puma future z1.4 I got them in my size FG studs for all and I play on grass but they all hurt the bottoms of my feet can anyone help me with why that is
The vapors actually don’t hurt the bottom but the gx and future z do I’m struggling to break them in

Both are awesome boots, but so different when it comes to fit and feel. It really depends on what you’re looking for.
which is the best shoe for a powerful and accurate shot?
That’s more so on you than the boots. I’ve always found that additional grip on the upper makes shooting feel more controlled, but that’s very much a personal preference thing. No shoe will increase the power of your shot.
Your foot, practice and get better. A shoe is just a shoe.
The gym. Build not only quad strength but hip strength as well. Do your squats in a wide stance to work your adductors

Position doesn’t matter. But if you like more aggressive studs get the vapor. If you have wider feet get the phantom.

@@rayanefn1048 also being an aggressive player doesn’t mean you need aggressive studs. Aggressive studs are better for straight line sprints. If you are aggressive and change direction a lot, the phantoms stud pattern is perfect.
