As a hip hop lover, the best thing about BTS’ approach and work is that they aren’t simply trying to imitate their influences. They make it their own; and not every song is about “I’m the best rapper” and “haters can kick rocks” because it’s easy for a lot of rappers to only do that, especially in South Korea. They also rap about persona, ego, mental health, relationships of different kinds, concepts of love and hate, societal expectations, etc. Dynamic as hell. Solo-wise, Suga’s more aggressive, RM is like a beatnik sniper, and Hobi makes music for dancers like himself, just vibey. All of them are masters in musicality.

Love the way you described the rap line. RM as a beatnik sniper... he is, he is... lulls you into a false sense of security, gets all gentle and poetic, makes you question the meaning of life, then takes you out with a precision shot when you least expect it. Mic Drop is a fun pop-rap song but it really doesn't show their rap skills at all. BTS make some real hip hop music, their discography goes deep!

72 year old BTS Army here. This song is actually used at pro sporting events such as NBA games as well as college sports. One of the songwriters and a main producer, Suga (his name comes from fave basketball position, shooting guard, pronounced Shoo Gah), is the global ambassador for the NBA. He always sits courtside during trips to the U.S.

They started in 2013 and have over 350+ different songs as a group and as soloists. They are the biggest group in the world and each of them are successful solo artist so you've got plenty to watch!
They are known for their lyricism, live performances and love for their fans. They all produce, write and compose which is always great!
This song is meant to clap back at haters and celebrate their global success - it's part of their 'Love Yourself' trilogy of albums. It's relevant because of all the hate they've received since they started (and still receive), coming from a small label that was near bankruptcy at one point. For example, fans from other groups used to mock them for their lack of daesangs (grand prizes) despite being a group for a few years. They used to compare them to another group that was one year older and had 14 daesangs, ignoring that this group was from the biggest company and had full industry support. So when BTS started winning daesangs and ended up sweeping most of them, they got mad and accused them of cheating and manipulating charts. They made petitions for them to disband and even asked to abolish one of the award show for giving them a daesang instead of another group. Now BTS has the most daesangs in South Korea's history with over 70 of them. The whole chorus is a flex toward those who mocked them and ARMY for having a dream 💜

We definitely don't have the same criteria to determine what an original song is (I don't count remixes Japanese versions or or instrumentals as different songs for example). Their discography is much more than 350 pieces but that's not what I was saying
As others have already commented, as long as you play their music videos from either the BangtanTV or Hybe Labels YT channels and start with the BiGHit logo, you won’t have trouble. Both the label and even the members are aware that there are reaction channels. I think that JK has even watched a reaction video during one of his Weverse lives. There are tons of other reaction channels who have done official video reactions and even several years after it was posted, it is still up unedited. Now live performances are where it gets tricky and Army who have been around much longer than I have will tell you which types of live shows can be posted without some sort of effect and which ones can be posted as it was shown on CZcams.
BTS started as hip hop group with 3 rappers and 4 vocalist but they experimented with multiple genres. They have been around since 2013.
Currently BTS is not active as a group due to mandatory military service and will reunite after June2025. Only one member have completed the military service.
Even they're not active as a group, they still continue to release solo projects (pre recorded of course).
Other songs you can check out are fake love and on kinetic manifesto. They also have full English songs like dynamite, butter and permission to dance which were released during the pandemic. Expect a happy poppy song on that one. 😊

oh yes it's diss track to their haters and flexing with were they'd already reached at that point. The 3 Rappers of course wrote their lyric's. The MV was real cars being burnt behind them btw. The live version with a live band is done at concerts and Award Show's is much longer with 2 extra hard dance breaks and they use a live band which is heavy on the bass line.

Actually, the first kpop group that I liked was Blackpink back in 2019, but it was BTS that got me hooked me and changed my life a few months later 💜
If you are interested in hip hop the rapline has solo work and rapline songs. Might try UGH, Outro Tear, Her as well as Agust D, RM's newest album RPWP Groin, Lost are two tracks. Jhope had a collab with JCole - On the street. That is a start.

Hi, since I’m ARMY (BTS fan), I have this MV memorized and wanted to pay more attention to you and your reaction and comments. I could see that, even though you sound very chill, I can see that you were paying attention to a lot of things and vibing with it. First, I appreciate that you gave BTS a chance for a listen. Everything you said is true. This song is more towards the haters since it’s older and there’s a very valid reason for that where other songs, even if it’s a diss track, has extremely poignant lyrics with so much depth. Mic Drop does have a lot of wordplay, but much less than other BTS songs (not counting the 3 Full English songs that came out during the pandemic). They often incorporate both English, Korean, full Korean, Japanese, and more English in their huge variety of genres they can do.
Fun fact: They got part of the idea of dropping the mic when Barack Obama did that during one of his last speeches.
If you decide to check a different song out, if it says ‘Big Hit’, then you don’t have to lighten the opacity and use an effect. Thank you again for giving them a chance and I appreciate your comments. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🇨🇦

Mic Drop is BTS' response to their haters with a little flexing on the side spitting facts...lol. with Suga's epic lines "tasteless ratatouille" & "sue it". I recommend you check their latest live performance of Mic Drop from their Yet To Come Busan concert last October 2022 where it was attended by 70k live audience and was livestreamed by over 50M worldwide causing the apps to crash from time to time....but so worth it. The cool thing about BTS is that they have no limits or barriers, whether with musical styles, cultural differences or geographical distances, they will do their best to represent and the most interesting thing is that none of them are the same, speaking of personalities, this is clear in the projects. solos where we will have one of them in rock, another in jazz, another in pop and each one in what they like.... Thanks for reacting to my guys! You know? They are perfect at the studio versions, and even better when live! They perform the same choreography and sing live (no lipsync).
Unfortunately, since the beginning, they've received a lot of hate. The first two members (RM and Suga) were underground rappers and received a lot of hate from their former colleagues saying they weren't real rappers and other bad things, so you'll find some diss tracks (awesome ones!) within their huge discography.
Labeling them as a "boy band" or a "pop group" is not right, because they are very eclectic. I have just one playlist on Spotify, 95% of it is BTS. I can listen to them all day: they have not even a bad song!
I've been a proud Army (fandom) since I met them four years ago. I'm 67yo, ok? The fandom is formed by people from all parts of the world, no matter age, race, religion, age, etc. because they are not just excellent (and complete) artists, but excellent human beings, too.

BTS members are highly dedicated to every aspect of their craft (lyrics/vocals/dance/visuals/production) and it shows both in their MVs and in their live performances. They are the best in dancing there singing and they’re rapping is above and beyond even some of the United States rappers that are coming out they just don’t have the cadence and flow as BTS rappers! If you are a rap fan, you should react to RM's latest album "Right Place Wrong Person". It's such a masterpiece, an hip-hop alternative genre album. RM is a rapper and member of BTS.
If you are a rap enthusiast I would recommend more of their solo stuff. RM's new album is an experimental masterpiece. If you want to see another group song, i think you will like IDOL and FAKE LOVE, but what ever you watch it will be a journey.
