Thanks. This was helpful. My one difficulty was not remembering what screws went where. I'd recommend for novices like me, that when you remove a screw, tape it near the location it came from using small strip of painter's tape.

I'm trying to replace my driver side mirror on my 2002 Ford taurus and I am at the point where I need to remove the hex screw with the socket wrench but the screw is now rounded. What can I do?

I'm just wondering why you would tell your viewers to throw out the insulator before you remove the mirror, that insulator is what keeps the air from flowing through and causing an annoying noise and the new mirrors do not come with a new one unless you purchase it from Ford as an extra.

Thanks for the video. I just replaced a knocked off mirror on my girlfriend's 2000 Taurus. Only problem was hers is a SEL model that had the speaker installed on the inside of the mirror and needed a extra step to remove the speaker by sliding it off and remove 2 additional screws. Otherwise this saved me time and money! 👍🏾

Jim, once you snap the cover on at the end, is there any way to get it back off?

I tried to replace my mirror. And the top right one didn't want to stay. It seemed like it was ok. And a few wiggles and the nut would come off ?

What tools did you have to use for this? Also I own a 2005 Ford Taurus, will anything be different with the 2005 compared to the 2003?

+Justin Lui No it should be almost the exact same. The tool you will need is a screw driver Philips and flat head and a 8 or 10 mm socket. Thats it.Let me know how you do.

Why don't you just remove the plastic triangle piece covering the mounting screws behind the door mirror itself? You don't have to remove the complete door panel.
Looks like your making more labor costs than what's needed to replace the mirror assembly. 😂
