as someone who makes game assets for a lot of games, I will tell you that most artists when they make an asset have to do it quickly, and chances are they just Googled "body laying on back", found the first image they could, didnt know what it was from and used it. Especially from what I know about old Telltale, that place was a viper's pit of toxicity and artists there were frequently under the gun for unrealistic deadlines.
that's not an excuse for picking out the first image you find on google...

Sometimes I feel like devs are just leaving weird shit in the files only dataminers would find just to troll them. I know that's something I would definitely do if I were a game dev.

@@D_YellowMadness It's just something devs do to pass the time and later forget to remove it, like the Black Ops 3: Der Eisendrache "easter egg" someone datamined which was actually just a picture inside of a spinning heart depicting a dev and his wife, which was never meant to be found by anyone

My thought on #4 is that the final background was locked behind 100% completion, which included the two censored backgrounds, but they didn't change the code to accommodate for this, making it unobtainable.

That... is no doubt what probably happened. Devs didnt think it would affect anything not localizing them, and thus, forgot the code updates to remove them.
I imagine the Tomb Raider Legend one is from an early design document, and the imagery was so hilarious that they put it in there to look at when they were feeling frustrated.
About the Battle Hunter secret image, it's a dev avatar rollcall. If you read older manga you know that artists tend to have these asides at the end of volumes with these little cute or weird looking chibi characters that act as avatars for the authors, and the characters in IMAGE 22 has weird nicknames which are common in close knit groups. It's actually the devs congratulating you in a silly picture.

To add to this: Battle Hunter was developed by a company called Success. So the "Success" you see in that image isn't simply saying that you have achieved Success, but to tell you that these people are Success Corp.
As this was made in Japan, you can safely assume the word play is intended.
The Sim City 4 track "Primordial Dreams" is pretty creepy. It isn't enabled by default and enabling it makes it play after you select to "Obliterate" your city. The track is an apocalyptic sounding minimal song if you can call it that. Its mostly drums and siren sounding instruments.

I loved Battle Hunter. If you popped the CD into a CD Player, you can hear music that isn't in the game.

Same man, rented it when I was 6 and fell in love with it, but only was able to play it for a few hours, wasn't until 15 years later I was able to fully play the game. Ended up 100% and its easily my favorite game of all time.
@@daveyreetz6493 i loved the cheese you could pull with some items. Get the attack and defense booster items(the card looking items) and the cursed items that effect what you can roll, so you can never roll below 3 or above 4, always get doubles, never be able to take damage

Let me see if I can explain Battle Hunter's image 22. Now, I may be talking right out of my ass here, but judging by the names by the weird creatures in the picture, they seem to be the avatars of the game developers thanking the player for 100% the game. Game developers do this sometimes. They add and hide funny little mascots and chibified versions of themselves to reward any player persistent enough to fully complete the game. Chrono Trigger did this too in one of the endings.
I agree. Most manga artists do the exact same thing, and I'm quite used to seeing these kinds of things so it's not surprising. All of the names are real people's names or puns.

@@MasonicMafia On the contrary, I think it makes perfect sense. The images are used as the splash screen when going into the game. You unlock that one by 100% completing the game, so you'd never have any reason to actually use it. It's just for fun.

there are these giant tank-like enemies with treads that roll around and face-plant to try and hit you,
purely out of curiosity i maneuvered around to their back after the face-plant attack and they have a
sticker on the bottom of them that looks to be an image of some lady undies. lol.
they kept it in the DLC as well with the recolored variant of the enemy, including the sticker being recolored.

Fun fact: initial D is probably most popular in the state for their song. You know the gas song and the car song. Ironic that the only song that have in the only game is somehow the worst
Gas Gas Gas? I'm guessing all the Eurobeat was removed from the US release of that game. TokyoPop was dubbing it back then and the localization went to insane levels. Funimation later actually re-dubbed the first two seasons with the original music and also removed a lot of the other localization stuff.
It's ironic that the Eurobeat featured in the show later became memes while the original localized soundtrack has pretty much been forgotten.

No, the Zombies mode was a last-minute addition to WaW. Most likely, you need to do some weird easter egg to get it.
The zombies gamemode was a quick minigame the devs made for fun, and barely got the clearance to put it in the game. They were eventually allowed to put it in the game as an unlockable for beating hte campaign, and it turned out the minigame became a huge success and became it's own thing.

The 'I'm waiting for you' poster was actually a German Propaganda leaflet dropped over Italy in 1944 basically saying how your wife will be waiting for you dead. I found the image off of Instagram a few days ago.

Hearing about unusual discoveries in either the games themselves or in the files is always a blast to see when they're finally found.
That said, there's this one easily accessible secret in a promotional Flash (R.I.P.) game for Sonic and the Black Knight Sonic Knight in Training where if you play the game and stretch the window in a Flash Player you can find three duplicates sprites of Sir Lancelot (Shadow) with one sprite actually being an unused sprite with the text "Keep this character here for Sonic Game" underneath the unused sprite duplicate of Sir Lancelot's backside that depending on how tall or short the screen is stretched vertically can only have the "Keep this character here" displayed instead of the full text.
All three Knights of the Roundtable have unused angles they can be seen in in the games files, implying the original idea was something along the lines of multiple rounds with each knight changing positions instead of the usual high score simulator most official Flash games would've had back then.
A really strange/odd oddity with the game that Charrii5 discovered on a stream where he played all of the officially licensed Sonic Flash games is clicking the some of buttons causes it to open up a webpage to *Neopets* of all things, but in his case he clicked the button at the very bottom of the game. Further research shows that the game was licensed by SEGA but was published on the Neopets website in February 2009 and then was removed after the promotion for Sonic and the Black Knight ended but still, Neopets is an odd choice to promote a game rated E10+.
But regardless, the game suffers from the usual issues with defunct Flash games with nearly every button being labeled as "undefined", some broken code as you need to right click (or left click if you use the right mouse button) and then hit play as the game hangs on the intro sequence upon booting up in a flash player and missing video files as according to the Sonic News Network if the player got a high enough score they would unlock a (at the time) new trailer for Sonic and the Black Knight and there are two buttons that only play a repeated countdown video with nothing following it no matter how long you wait.
"Mountain Vengeance" is absolutely unplayable, no matter what controller you use. No idea what they were thinking.

About the Batman image (I was actually going to send you an e-mail about this one if it wasn't shown in the video lol) that was done externally by another company and not actually Telltale. I'm pretty sure it was a Chinese company that was contracted to create art assets for the game and it may not have been widely reported the same way it was in the west.

Initial D was not popular due to most anime and manga fans not being interested in the manga and anime, plus the fact that the anime was distributed by TokyoPop, hence why the music in Mountain Vengeance sucks balls due to it not using Eurobeat, the very genre that the anime and the Arcade Stage series used
I recommend you watch the video by Vectrex4Life on the god awful game you have on the video, as he knows more about Initial D and even has the Arcade Stage 2 cabinets.

Hey Oddpeople ! When I was a kid, I played all my PS2 demos and found out a clip who scares the hell out of me. I think It's not a dark secret or an easter egg, but I really want to watch it again and solve this mystery. From what I remembered, It's a sort of clip which depicts a scene between a werewolf and a red riding hood in a forest, but using strange animation 3D (the Characters and the place looks like cardboard). At some moment, the werewolf is screaming and the all forest is absorbed by him. It's not a playable demo and maybe It's just a musical clip from a grunge band because It's really dark... But I terribly want to know ! If you've got some hint or know what it is, please, help me ! 😅

The Dreadout 2 one is hilarious, but Battle Hunter's is just sad. It just goes to show American localizers' f'ed up double standards when it comes to fanservice. Almost naked men doing sexy poses are all fine and dandy, but apparently women wearing swimsuits is crossing a line.

To play devil's advocate, I assumed the fanservice for the women was removed because they were under legal age in the states so it could potentially have more controversy. To be honest, I'm getting quite tired of anime oversexualizing children, so I hope my assumption about the characters ISN'T the case.
Probably bot a censored image though in CoD: What is almost certainly happening is the object is slightly behind the wall and when you are far enough away with a sniper rifle scope you cause a rounding error which causes the skull poster to be drawn in the foreground because the shader cannot determine if the poster or the wall is the texture to be drawn. It is a similar effect to any other time in a game you see overlapping textures which seem to flicker due to rounding uncertainty.
After how many years of that King and even some weird and creepy video games, they then decided he would scare away kids? I'm pretty sure he was the reason why people gave a crap to still go there.

The final image in Battle Hunter looks to be just some caricatures of some of the people involved in the game or maybe some of their friends, so I imagine the guy in the middle, in real life, is of actual African descent. Still, I wouldn't expect the average person in the US to put 1+1 together like that, so I could see why it would be censored.

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure people ripped the DL model and found out her chest is fully modeled, I'm assuming we don't get to see that in the game normally
@@JargonMadjin Yeah... It most certainly is. Actually almost every single female character has fully/partially modeled chest, even when fully clothed(such as one bike riding female NPC wearing a coat). Not only that but depending on certain conditions Linda may be going commando.

I wanna see you cover one of the secret endings of the first I'm On Observation Duty, specifically the one that seems very ARG-like. To trigger the secret, you have to do the following in this order:
- wait until 1am in the game.
- click on the intercom located in the kitchen.
- continue playing, then make sure you are at the balcony before 3:30am.
- once the clock hits 3:30, use the enter code anomaly report option.
- once a text box appears, enter the year of Mandela's death (2013)
- when the screen says "open your eyes," hit yes, and you will be in a secret room with a man named Timothy.
- click on Timothy's face until his head twists upside-down, and wait for the jumpscare to happen
- after the jumpscare, you'll be met with a question: Why did you do this to Timothy?
- answer with "yes" and the possible ARG scene will play.
There are other secrets regarding Timothy and his room's surroundings, but they aren't really that interesting. I can't wait to see you cover this ODD and mysterious secret from a game about fixing ODD and mysterious anomalies.

And though I can't remember the name of the art style, this is just a classic japanese type of ugly drawing that is supposedly considered funny. Sort of like an inner joke parody, which is why the devs probs drawn themselves in there and named each other. I've seen this type of ugly art around a couple of times in japanese media when I was younger.
