    I use a Big Tex auto hauler for my rock crawler jeep. Fairly sturdy, great price, and the lighting is quality. I backed into a pile of dirt and a rear light popped out instead of imploding and crushing. It took no tools to put it back, no damage, nice design.

    i have the same trailer. its really good! i paid 1500 and got the spare tire and tire rack. the gate is heavy so i recommend getting a gorilla gate lift or fabricating some garage door springs for 30 bucks. i replaced the front jack with a side mount jack with a wheel instead of the sandfoot. the round tube makes mounting lawncare racks a pain unless you get equipment defender jacks. i also put 2 5/4 deckboards around the sides so i could haul wood.

    Great video, youll love the trailer. I have the same trailer but its painted gray got it for just over a thousand the day after christmas. Just bought an electric jack for it, hope all goes well on the install. The only problem I have had with my trailer is I have to turn the lights on my truck for the turn signals to work properly. If not all the lights on the back will flash.

    Nice looking cart there. I too travel with my golf cart. I have had all kinds of toys over the years and this one is one of the funnest I have owned. I have the V-twin 24 hp Honda engine. Two Kenwood 10 inch subs, to 6.5 Kenwoods in the front and 2 5 1/2 kickers in the back. I have Port Aransas on my bucket list. Looks like a awesome place.

    use a 18ft landscape trailer day in and day out. I only payed $1800 new for it back in 2010. You can find them new now for $2400, but I will say they are not made as well as that big tex. I have over 100k miles on my trailer and I have had to do a lot of trailers. After 7 years of use metal fatigue is a real issue. That trailer if over built for your use, but it will wear well.

    I have this exact trailer. Prob 5 years old. The wiring harness on mine fell apart gave me some problems. And the jack was in the worste position. Here’s a fact for your viewers with f 150s your tailgate will hit the jack so you can’t open the tailgate with the trailer attached. Silly silly design. My 250 clears it. But twice I was working using the trailer sat on my keys and remote opened my tailgate and it slammed the jack. Thank the Lord for aluminum tailgates no dents. But come on big Tex.

    The seat pattern is ostrich. It may be fake ostrich (vinyl), real ostrich, or cow leather stamped to look like ostrich. Real ostrich skin is tough and soft and distinctive with all those spots (where the base of the feather entered the skin). Anyway it's a fancy prance upgrade, as that's what folks put in there classic Bugatti's and such. I like it.

    It doesn't make it VERY difficult to drive off with the trailer. Thieves just drop the lock lug in the hole in their bumper and they are gone. Then when they are gone they will take the time to cut that lock off.

    getting ready to pack it in after 41 yr. in Real Estate. There are a lot of 5th wheelers out, we will be looking in the 35' range. Any preference to a manufactor? More than likely we will be full time. I like all your video's. If I am not mistaken you have a 5th wheeler yourself?

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  Před 7 lety

      Daniel Hilts: the key is getting a unit rated for full time living. We have a Coachmen Chaparral that we love but I'm not sure I would trust it as a full time fifth wheel. Generally I would suggest a DRV, LUXE, or even a high end Forest River brand like the Cedar Creek or Cardinal

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  Před 7 lety

      Daniel Hilts: if you want to be more price focused then I would suggest Columbus or a Grand Design. 5 years ago I would have said Montana, but ive personally seen too many of their newer units with big problems. Same with high end Jaycos. Not saying thats everyone's experience, but what I've seen .

    • @SarasotaHomesChannel

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  Před 7 lety +1

      those are great units. Full time rated figure wheels generally start around $65k (can be had for mid 50s) and run all the way to over $200k. Redwood, DRV, LUXE, and a few other are on the higher end. I'm at an RV park right now and there are quite a few full-timers as running sub $100k fifth wheels and love them. So, don't think that you NEED to be in the $100+ plus range.

    I need to add my two cents here. The ezzy go is Kool ! The trailer not so much. First things first, please say you'll be hauling this around with the wife's vehicle. Those top pipe rails are nothing more than something to attach wood and haul some rocks or something similar. Single axles is for the pretty city boys. I prefer a goose neck with at least two axles (heavy duty of course) with enough length to exceeds your expectations. Be careful with the goose neck area as this is the weak point and extra bracing is crucial. Always check the cross members for distance of space. I prefer 24" on a stock trailer. You will be very surprised what trailer manufactures space those. Always check tag for gvw and this is where you go big. Over kill on a trailer the better within reason. All this is coming from someone who has hauled heavy equipment for a living and the D.O.T. is not always friendly. I do like your reviews, maybe in the future you can explain tie downs, chains, come alongs, Clevices, etc.etc.
