  • Hey!! I hope this sock monkey tutorial is helpful for you. I’ve been making sock monkeys since I was 14 years old. My mom bought a kit to make me one since I was always trying to play with my brother’s when I was little. Time got away from her and before you knew it I made it for myself! Ever since then I’ve been making sock critters! I even make sock donkeys and sock unicorns! Feel free to check out my etsy shop (link below) if you would like to purchase one for yourself or for a friend! Thanks so much for watching!
    Supplies I used:
-Two size large socks in Red (Rockford Red Heel brand)
    -Sewing machine
    -Off-white thread
    -Hand sewing needle
    -Sewing pins
    -Fabric scissors
-Black felt for eyes 1/2” circles. You can also use buttons if it doesn’t need to be baby-safe.
-Black thread (I used DMC floss 310)
-Neutral colored floss, or six strands of thread about 18 inches long
    -Polyfil stuffing
-Large knitting needle for stuffing and turning (size 15)
    -Water soluble/air erasable marking tool
    -Grid line ruler
    -Seam gauge
If you have any questions feel free to ask, I would love to be of help if I can!

Not having the template, make this one not too helpful. How big is the circle?

Thanks so much! These are so fun to make! I usually buy my socks online from Fox River (FoxSox.com) There is an entire "Sock Monkey" heading on their website. I have seen the blue and brown socks at Hobby Lobby, but if you want a particular color or size I would check online. Thanks so much for watching!

Hi! You can find these socks on Amazon, or directly from their website. It’s Fox River brand. If you search “fox river red heel sock” you should be able to find a place to buy them. I hope you have fun making a monkey!

@@SewBrenna thanks 😊 When I get a chance I'll look to see if I can find them. How long does it usually take u to make one? And how much does it usually cost? 🤔

@@duke744 When I was making several in a row I got my manufacturing time down to about an hour and a half, but it’s been a while, so I’m not sure how long it would take me now. It’s probably something that could be started and finished in the same day for most people.
Cost depends on the price of the products that you use (socks, stuffing, thread, and buttons and things) When I was selling them I had them priced at $35 per monkey, so for sure less than that to make it yourself!
