    The way I personalized Massimo (my sock monkey) was putting him baby socks. I know is not too much but is fun to change him the colors and patterns through the seasons.
    P.S. Massimo loves this videos ❤💜

      That's a great idea! I have to confess that I never thought of putting socks on a sock monkey. I love it! Give Massimo my regards! 🙂🐵

      Grüezi! (Somebody told me that the Bernese say "grüssech" instead. Is that correct?) I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for watching! 😀

      @@TheSockMonkeyGuy Yes in Bern we say grüessäch. But that is more of a formal greeting when you refer to the person your speaking with to their last name you would use that. I think „Grüezi“ can be used with anybody. But it is not used in Bern. As a greeting we use „Tschou“(from the italin Ciao) or „Salut“ (also sometimes sali)or simply „halo“. For example:“Grüessäch Herr Sock Monkey! Wi geiz näch so? (Greetings Mr. Sock Monkey! how are you doing?) And the less formal version: „Tschou Peschä! (Peter) wi loufts?“

    where do you find costume patters that small?

    • @TheSockMonkeyGuy
      @TheSockMonkeyGuy  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for your question! I don't know of anyone who makes patterns for sock monkey clothing, so I've created all my own patterns for the costumes. I've seen some people use ready-made clothing intended for teddy bears, but those never fit properly because sock monkeys and teddy bears have entirely different proportions.
      I started making sock monkeys in about 2002, so by now I've developed a fairly good library of patterns and I can often create a new pattern from an existing one when necessary. I've had a couple of inquiries about making my patterns available to the public, and if there turns out to be enough interest I may indeed do that.

    OMG, you are such an artist! I would like to make about 5 monkeys for my mom's nursing home residents, (in her name, since she already passed). It's too late for mother's day, so I'd like to make them patriotic for the 4th of July. Would you be willing to share the pattern for the vest? I'm really awful at creating patterns. I brought Easter presents for 16 ladies and they were a hit! but I don't think I can make 16 monkeys. I'm going to try to make 5. And perhaps we can give them to the men this time. I told the activities director to choose the residents that get fewer visits and fewer packages. Would anybody like to help? I could post for you the name and address of the nursing home and it would be attn: activities dept. Thanks, if anybody could help, it means so much to them. a patriotic fabric vest or pin would be great!

      That's a great idea! Here is the pattern for the vest: tinyurl.com/Felt-vest
      Bear in mind that this pattern is designed for a felt vest which doesn't need a hem. If you make the vest out of some other kind of fabric you will need to add a hem allowance all around (I typically use 1/4 inch or 6mm). But you might want to stick with felt since it will be much faster and easier. You can always embellish it by gluing or sewing on braided trim, star-shaped sequins, etc. If you use traditional Red Heel monkey socks and a blue vest you will have a red-white-and-blue motif!
      Also, a quick search turned up these US flag lapel pins: www.amazon.com/dp/B01JYG470Y/
      I hope that's helpful. My channel isn't widely known (this video has fewer than 600 views as of this writing) so you may have to do most of your search for volunteers on Facebook or elsewhere, but by all means post the information here too if you like. My "How to make a basic sock monkey" video is here: czcams.com/video/O_BFMXlZhkk/video.html
      Let me know how it turns out! You can message me on Instagram if you like; the link to my page is in the video description above.
