Yeah I think the main reason he hasn’t gotten more traction is because of CZcams’s algorithm, it’s rewarding shorter content with like daily or every other day uploads. If CZcamss algorithm was based on quality this guy would have at least 50,000 subscribers. But alas quality content takes longer than a day or 2 to edit and so CZcams’s algorithm isn’t going to push him. But I hope he knows that his quality is much much much more appreciated! Don’t change your quality for subs, but also don’t be afraid to roll the dice on some shorter easier video ideas If your goal or want is to grow faster! ❤️

@@tankytots696 Hey thanks mang, but honestly I'm not very consistent and this channel has a very low amount of videos (only 16 as of this one). The card game niche is also incredibly small, there really aren't many variety card game channels that don't have a main game people come for. I'm just trying to make the type of content I'm not seeing in the niche! Kinda bringing a little bit of the old school video game reviewer (normal boots) flair to cardboard.

Oh my.. that Varia's 10 point system is interesting! I can imagine a variation where Players place a LOT of cards on the board they cannot possibly pay for, and for the Opponent to prioritize what to respond to and try to come out the victor (spending cards and such) on mini battlefields you might not end up paying anything for.. but keeping them away and distracted from a different spot! It could make for an interesting game of chicken.

I've stopped working on it because it had some fundamental flaws in my opinion, the other project I haven't publicly shown yet, but you're a chef competing against your opponent to get customers. You play food cards to customers and whoever has the higher total value wins the customer. After a few rounds of that whoever has the most customer points wins.

I think it would be interesting to see TCGs/LCGs where combat isn't the main focus. Usually it might have to be incorporated in some way to keep the amount of placeable cards on the board in check but when the goal is to just do as much damage as possible or stall the game until you can overpower your opponent it starts to feel repetitive.

Most of these do not look great. The massive rush and design of TCGs has definitely led to a lot of derivative games, or games with very little proper playtesting (especially blind playtesting). Out of all of these, I think Academy of Arts and Varia seem the most interesting. AoA, while looking like Flesh and Blood (including the graphic design) appears to play quite differently with a very different resource system (while derivative of many modern TCGs, the split in Light and Dark is unique) and a different game tempo. Varia might be the most unique one I've seen, but the dice definitely doesn't grab my interest.
I know someone who picked up RISE and I will admit, it's a very beautiful game. But the mechanics and "Complexity" look terrible.

Ressource-systems are essential for any "duel-type" tcg in my opinion. or you suffer the ygo-problem of powercreep and bad, more "ideology-driven" judgecalls and sentence like "we dont want this to work, even if the card says so". The problem in my opinion with ressources like in magic, that somehow nobody learnt that ramping is just an unfun mechanic if you want a more casual competitive game. Thats where magic fukked it up for years and now, many game modes are either too expensive or wildy unbalanced like commander. Where the trip to "everybody plays 4+ colors" is still going strong and will be the future of commander for sure.
So for any dev out there: make ressources. Make them something in the deck like magic, no outside ressource deck or something. Its a card game, dont rob it of its "randomness". i know, some highly competitive players always cry for "consistency", but these are the minority of players. They should stick to other games, if they dont like the little bit of luck and random things involved. Then, dont. allow. ramping. of. any. kind. And avoid cheating out cards. A 10 cost-whatever-card should hit the board turn 10, not any sooner. Or make the cheating highly restrictiv or risky for the player doing it. Thats the secret to ressources. Magic has the best system period here, people may disagree but in my opinion, they should look somewhere else then. But Wizards printed too many powerful lands early and over its lifespan, which ruined that system. Pokemon is a close second, but did the same sins of ramping later.

21:13 I really hate the "use a different word for the same effect to bypass ruling" thing from Yugioh.

Damn those Mythik cards are extremely ugly. Whats up with these awful huge borders and colors

when the card gets printed the borders will get cut to a normal size. the color is because yugioh cards are different colors.

You should see twilight immortals cards. They absolutely changed the printing quality and they are far better now
