My childhood was spent making airfix models, when I retire I might just do them again
Best looking Lanc ever !!!!!
I have this beauty in my stash. Watching you build this has given me a new appreciation for the colour "Buff".
Awesome paint job and great build. Would so much have preferred you talking us through the build
A perfect build, the best 1/72 scale Lancaster I have seen on YT
I have this Lancaster but in a white Airfix box #08004. The plastic is black with standard decals. Been in the stash for years. Glad to this video; it has really good airbrush techniques. I have a lot of room for improvement in that respect.
Super build and finish, you did the kit great credit! I’m in the process of building it now. Eduard photo etch and some scratch built extras.....slow going though....can’t rush it as it’s too good a kit to ruin it....glad that you painted the Upkeep oxide red.....👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful work!
Great job! Beautiful paint work. I’m building, nearly finished, the BII version of this kit as we speak …. I have some work to do yet.
Simply beautiful!
Fantastic job you did on that airfix Lancaster. Keep it up :D
Building mine now as a first. Nice job thanks!
Splendific job ! Thanks.
Très beau résultat ,félicitations ...
Compliments. Very great build You do.
A brilliant video build, you have another subscriber, I look forward to seeing more.👍
That's why I don't try painting my markings. Too much chance of paint bleed or roundels being off center. Aftermarket decals these days achieve a painted on look without the hassle.
Stunning model!😍👍
Fantastic job.
I just got that plane, is gonna be fun to work with it.
One of my favorites
Wow model. You don't stop
Great build!
Thank you!
Very nice work
Perfect build 🔥🔥🔥
I see you are using Phil Flory's sanding sticks...he's a great modeller too. Good work.
Looks very good! Nice done! ;)
Excellent
Great video and a fine job on the Lancaster, could I ask, what sound track did you use during the building part of the video please?
brilliant work, such a sexy aircraft, well done
The designation of those aircraft converted to carry Upkeep was 464 Provisioning.
Great build. But like the other person said: would be nice to hear you talk us through. Not a criticism, I just think it would add that lil extra.👍👍
Never seen a wash done with Klear before..
looks really good.
What brand if wash did you use?
What editing software do you use it’s amazing and so is your skill
You have done your research. It's on record from a ground crew member stating the upkeep mines arrived in red primer, and the one captured from Barlows Lancaster that crashed from hitting electricity pilons, but didn't self destruct was reported to be dark red.
A question, please: Is there no exhaust staining on the outboard side of the outer engines?
Does the airstream carry the exhaust away from the surfaces of the wings?
Thank you
As a "Yellowbelly", thank you for this, bud. Without those Men and Boys of RAF BC, and FC, this Sceptred Isle of ours would be VERY different.
Per Ardua.
Ad Astra
Great build whats the brush adhesive and canopy fix you use ? , but still great food for thought.
Thanks! The brushable glue is Mr Cement S, and I used Micro Crystal Clear to glue the canopy in place.
Lovely build, I believe though that the Damn Busters Lancasters were not heavily weatered as they were fairly new aircraft
You're right - lovely build, but I think the silver pencil got far too active. Some of those panels never get touched and the panel lines would be as painted. I have looked closely at the Dambuster Lanc photos and they look pretty pristine. I think the fitters would look after them well. The canopies on these 72nd models are hard to get flush I have noticed - all of them. Good work on the exhaust staining though.
They weren't brand new for good reason. The RAF had discovered that the most realiable airframes were those that had done a few trips. So they were taken from squadrons, converted and sent to Scampton.
I am building a Lancaster rn and I got some glue on the windscreen! Not sure how to get it off, tried polishing it but seemed to make it worse
Great job on the lanc!! I’m building this at the moment and I had a night fitting those tiny windows on either side of the front section, the instructions called to fit them from the inside, did you do them from the outside?
05:00
I’m just starting this kit and in true pre 2015 Airfix tradition, the fits aren’t great. You’ve done a really nice job of that one. Great to watch a run through. Did you have many issues with the kit?
Squadron Leader: Top hole. Bally Jerry pranged his kite right in the how's your father. Hairy blighter, dicky-birdied, feathered back on his Sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harper's and caught his can in the Bertie.
Bovril: Er, I'm afraid I don't quite follow you, squadron leader.
Love it! Was that a Peter Sellers' movie excerpt?
ENGLISH, please.
I bought all AKs weathering pencils there all great apart from the metallic set with aluminium, steel gun metal etc nothing comes off them atoll! Not like your silver pencil there! That's what I was looking at there how good that was to AKs!
Love it, it’s so detailed, when is the next wonderful video coming out?
Thank you! Got a few things in the pipeline so stay tuned ;)
@@EchoRangeModels oh! And im just wondering, is this your first channel or do you have any other ones
@@ghosturbx this is my first and only channel, originally started back in the golden year of 2006 for random video game things mainly :D
@@EchoRangeModels oh, well let me tell you, your editing skills are amazing, your thumbnails are nive and clean, you should really start a discord server for your channel, also, any new plans for videos? Cant wait till your next upload
@@ghosturbx thank you so much! I'm still finishing off a few commissions but hoping to get started on something straight after!
When doing the decals, why did you brush tamiya thinner over them?
It makes a really great decal softener. I find I get better and more consistent results from X-20a than I do from dedicated decal solutions.
Great looking Dambuster
Why are using X20 over the decals
Thank you! I find X-20a makes a really good decal softener. In fact I often get better results with that than dedicated decal solutions.
@@EchoRangeModels thanks
A very nice build! How do you rate the Tamiya LP clear against Klear etc? I normally use Tamiya X/XF or Mr Hobby GX UV Cut but have almost run out so looking to restock.
Thank you! The LP clear is pretty much on par with the Mr Hobby GX UV cut stuff. I'd happily use both interchangeably.
Maybe im wrong but i thought lancs were using paddle blade props in 1943? Also the tailwheel shaft looks awfully long is it pushed all the way into the fuselage?
Hi Jerry, as far as I'm aware the props are correct for Dambusters Lancs. The tail wheel was a resin replacement that was mounted on a brass rod and left loose so when it's not resting on the floor it slides back out a tad.
@@EchoRangeModels HI ECHO! Thanks 4 getting back! Ok on the props thought i might be mistaken. Not unusual for me! Lol! Ok pn the tsilwheel i was curious how it looked. Your kit looks beautiful i learned a lot! Im getting into westhering kits now. Thanks so much for the return txt and for not thinking im a smart alec. Take care fell ow modler!
Hi building this model alongside your video , built the MK2 this one is very similar. concerning the small windows I used PVA glue on the completion of the model by applying with a cocktail stick. the deluxe PVA is excellent for this job. Can anybody tell me what filler are you using it looks great to apply not many gaps to fill but a few on the fuselage sides
What made you change your mind about the fuselage rounders and go with the decals?
Unfortunately I managed to get the different layers off centre, as well as some paint bleed. I was hoping to try fixing it but I figured in the end it was easier to just sand them back and use the decals.
Just a tad orange peel in the red spot RAF nothing a fine wet sand won't sort out! And under the wings but is that the texture on the plastic 🤔?
28:09 LMFAO
Outstanding.... Sub +1
Is this a new kit or an old Airfix classic?
Hi, this is the new tool Lanc, dating from 2012
Bravo.
F a n t a s t i c J o b. Compliments
Why no more uploads?
Unbelievable attention to detail, it must cost a fortune for all the paints etc.
Thank you! It's not too bad as most of the tools, paints, glue etc I've picked up over a number of years.
@@EchoRangeModels Looking to get my young son the revell Lancaster for Xmas , that should video him busy .
@@topfuelteddy excellent! Getting model kits for Christmas was one of the things that got me so into the hobby, it was just so exciting opening one on xmas morning :D
@@EchoRangeModels Hi again , magically father Christmas bought the revell Lancaster for my son ,we've made a start on it .
Can I ask what you use for filling semi large gaps on the joint lines ?
Thanks .
Why don’t have many subscriber?
Nice model. Shame Gibson's aircraft and the others were scrapped in 1947. Could have preserved just one of them.
The instrument panel from 'G' was salvaged and is now on display in East Kirkby next to Lancaster NX611. I was surprised and pleased to see it!
@@paulstroud2647 That's great! My mother's cousin, F/Lt Jack Leggo DFC was the navigator on ED909, AJ P
@@BigLisaFan My first cousin Harry was flight engineer on Ken Browns AJ-F that flew in the third wave...
They all had balls of steel!
@@davefave4351 I have a print called Retribution signed by Ken Brown. My mother's cousin was the squadron navigator and the navigator on Mick Martin's AJ-P.
The actual bombe was black
Only restored bombs are black. The official colour was green however just one or two of the bombs used in the raid were ever painted, most remained in red primer.
@@EchoRangeModels ugh huh
Что то не похоже на 72 масштаб ближе к 100
Not a criticism but these planes were new and modified for the raid so would they of shown so much wear (weathering) ?
And the edge of the camo is a bit soft but outstanding otherwise! Thank you! Subbed.
Clean and smart build. Great video. Please try voice-over it would be really good. Thanks for sharing
