    My mother's first husband Captain "Bob" Gurney was a pilot with the Qantas crews that left Rose Bay for Port Moresby in the 2 flying boats in September 1939, he became a Squadron Leader in the RAAF and was killed bombing Rabaul in May 1942. Gurney airport at Milne Bay is named after him.

      I'm working on that at the moment, Scott! Hoping to look at more inter-war travel from around the world and it is tricky to find people but when you do, they are always ace. Thanks for your comment!
