This is false. Very few civilians actually know the policy of the jurisdiction they are in. Runners will run no matter the policy and real runners don't get caught. This dude is a great example of a nonrunner being forced to run by the pursuit. He obviously had no idea what he was doing. Meanwhile the real criminals are laughing watching the video and reading these comments.
@@intheshell35ify your comment makes no sense. How is he a non runner? How does a "real runner" run any different? Why are the real criminals laughing watching this video? Are you suggesting cops should not chase if someone escapes? Who not worth catching escapes?
The policy wasn't put in place for the fleeing motorcyclist...it was put in place to protect the lives of innocent bystanders that the bike might slam into. The officer knew this and chose to ignore it the same as the dude on the bike decided to ignore his responsibility to pull over. The officer needs to answer for not following the protocol...since you are all about personal responsibility. ..right?

I was a CHP Officer for 27 years, retired now. Been in numorous pursuits. In my experience, it was NEVER about not wanting to get a "speeding ticket". Every one of them(again, my personal experience) was running to evade being caught after a much more serious crime, every one. We're talking Murder, Armed Robbery, Rape, Traffickng drugs and or people, driving high or drunk, ect... Every time they were trying to avoid going to jail.
And also, a lot probably just ride away recklessly because they know the officers will abort the pursuit. If bikers would get chased more seriously, less would run in the first place.

Man, this whole news story is aimed at casting blame on the police and not the rider. Dude said "the policies are there they just need to be adhered to." How about the policy that says don't drive recklessly through traffic at speeds in excess of 100mph?
And if the motorcycle rider had just pulled over, he would have been here today to have his day in court... HE is the only one to blame for his own death.
The cop was doing his job! A supervisor should have been monitoring radio traffic and maybe called off the chase but until then the officer was attempting to enforce the law. If the motorcycle driver had just stopped on the interstate he would have likely just been ticketed and could have went on his way. I have a Suzuki GSX-R and a Ducati 900 SS. It's not hard to go fast in a heartbeat. This guy endangered the lives of others BIG time. He made his bed and now he's sleeping in it. Bad choice, bruh... RIP. I hope all of us as riders can learn from this. You want to go fast... go to a track.
He didn't endanger anyone going a little bit over the speed limit initially, and then having the officer engage in a chase. That's what caused the dangerous situation.
@@Cessna172SNavIII And get a speeding ticket just because the officer decided to single him out because he's on a bike? What pride was there to swallow?
I’m a motorcyclist (I ride a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) and I have ALWAYS pulled over when an officer activated his lights behind me. It doesn’t even cross my mind to run. Only criminals do that.
BINGO! If he wasn't a thug, why did he run? Around fifty years ago I was pursued by a NC State Trooper at 0300 in the morning in a rural area. I opened up enough lead between us in the beginning to avoid my tag being read, turned off my lights and swerved into a side road. I'm satisfied the Trooper knew it was me, because everywhere I went for nearly a year, I had an SHP car behind me. Never got pulled over, but learned from my mistake. Didn't exceed the speed limit after that, and if the blue lights came on, I'd have immediately stopped. The idiot on the bike got what what he deserved, being in heavy traffic like that. I disagree with the retired know it all saying they shouldn't have chased him. If you don't chase, it ENCOURAGES bad behavior.
So it’s the police fault he decided to elude? That’s why our society is in the $hitter because people aren’t held accountable for their bad decisions and we make judgement on feelings.

Sorry for his loss of life, but I think "Weigh the cost of stopping and getting a ticket against the possible consequences of continuing the pursuit" is something that also the bike rider has to consider.
I assume in this case "consequences" also entail any potential damage to life or property to third persons, in this case any unfortunate pedestrians or cars that were involved in the crash. Cause a reckless, fleeing motorcyclist is not only a danger to himself but also to others.
@@moritzl7065 Also... I expect nothing from the motorcyclist. Officer is paid by taxpayers to protect us. In this case , I see a cop having fun at our expense

I was told once, just once, that as soon as you lose your healthy fear of a motorcycle is the exact moment that you need to sell it, then and never ride again, unless you gain that healthy fear once again.
I started riding when I was 13 and lost my license I don't know how many times for speeding. Not a single time did it occur to me to run from the cops and more than a few times I could easily have gone to jail. If you don't run, worst thing that happens is you get a ticket. Question: Do you want all held accountable for their actions or just who engage in behaviors you find personally objectionable? I guessing the latter. Yes, fleeing from a traffic stop is clearly wrong. There is zero excuse for doing so. It is a written rule or law. Policies are also written. Often times for the very same reasons as are laws. When police officers violate their department's policies are they not to be held accountable for those violations? No sympathy for the runner, he made his choices. But many others were endangered as well.

Strange the media seems more intent on criticizing the police, than the actual culprit.
Yes, Fatso Sunglasses should be more alarmed about the motorcyclist putting his as well as other lives in extreme danger. This happened in Georgia? Remind me to never move there.
What ever happened to people being accountable for their actions? This was on the rider, and he paid for his unnecessary recklessness.
That cop was dangerous, swerving into breakdown lane with no visibility! He could have rear ended a broken down vehicle, or hit someone changing a flat. Can tell he puts the chase above public safety.
Love how they say "well the police should'a done this and that" but not once do they say "the biker should stop for police"
I think ... he's suffered enough.
Police are rightly held to a higher standard of responsibility given their enormous powers.
At what point do we hold people accountable for their actions? Letting them always run off and "get away" will give other the thought they can do it do, then we have a snow ball effect. But leave it to the media and others that dont want people to be held accountable for their actions to continue to fuel this sense of entitlement.
Exactly. Might aswell let criminals rob banks, because they might hurt someone
100% correct
People are so brainwashed in todays society that they can’t think for themselves that they have influencers brainwash their minds. Seriously, the motorcyclist was doing 135 mph and risking lives of other vehicles.
LET'S GET SOME FACTS STRAIGHT YOU STUPID A$$ F CKING SHEEPLE MORONS, DID HE PURPOSELY HURT SOMEONE ELSE? DID HE PURPOSELY HURT SOMEONE ELSE'S PROPERTY? Question: Do you want all held accountable for their actions or just who engage in behaviors you find personally objectionable? I guessing the latter. Yes, fleeing from a traffic stop is clearly wrong. There is zero excuse for doing so. It is a written rule or law. Policies are also written. Often times for the very same reasons as are laws. When police officers violate their department's policies are they not to be held accountable for those violations? Do they not share the burden of having acted in a manner potentially equally as reckless as those you view as the only bad actor in this equation? What if the cop had struck a car load of kids injuring and killing god knows how many? And for what? To catch some idiot on a bike who is so stupid as to run from a traffic infraction? Bigger things are at risk that collecting a little revenue for the state coiffers. I mean, what would you think if your wife and or kids were killed, injured or crippled because some cop did not follow policy? I bet you'd be the first one looking for a lawyer.
More media BS blaming police. The motorcyclist is dead because of his decisions and behavior, not because of law enforcement.
Look at San Francisco to see what happens when criminal activity is ignored. Not only do they keep repeating their offenses, but it also encourages other criminals to come into the area since they know there won't be any consequences.
Sarge you are so right. People have gotten used to blaming others for their actions. The motorcyclist made the choice. What they don’t talk about is I bet the officer has feelings about the whole matter. Human.

When any motorist or other suspect runs from the police over what would otherwise be considered a minor offence, that in itself justifies a pursuit. No one runs for sometime minor unless they are hiding something more serious - outstanding warrants, weapons, drugs, etc.
I was raised in Broward County, Florida and even in the early 90's in the Tri County area, police were not to pursue speeding biker's solely for keeping others safe. This guy on the bike was asking for it. Whatever he was running from, must have been worth his life.
I was raised in Brevard and this is exactly what I was thinking, too.
I'm guessing this fool would have been speeding and riding recklessly, even if the cop wasn't chasing him. Isn't that how the chase started and the first place ?

It is utterly ridiculous to attribute any fault to anyone other than the rider.
[Full disclosure: I've been a rider off/on for 50+ years]
Well, risking the possible consequences (death) to apprehend possible felon or murderer in a high speed pursuit jeopardizes the possible case now when they could have investigated him at a distance for probable cause or interrogated him on possible worse offenses. Like Kidnapping. Better hope it's not kidnapping because, if he hid the victim their whereabouts died with him. See the inconceivable risks now?

The thinking of the "crime and safety officer" is the reason we have the levels of crime we do today.
At the end of the day, the reckless actions of the motorcycle rider caused his own demise!
Trying to apportion some blame on the pursuing officer is a little harsh, for all he knew the rider could have been fleeing for another much more serious matter?
RIP my thoughts and prayers with the riders loved ones and family.🙏
The officer didn’t do his duties within the scope of policy he was suppose to uphold. That’s why he’s on the chopping block. The riders fault has no bearing on the actions of the officer. He chose to further pursue this rider out of his jurisdiction when policy says to stop pursuit.
The riders loved ones should have taught him not to run from cops. If any blame is to be shared there you go
@@scarecrow4013 they never said anything at all about pursuing outside of his jurisdiction. way to listen. that isn't even a thing anywhere, stop watching so many movies. a cop can and will chase you as long as you run, there is no such thing as fleeing across the county line and having the cop let you go. hasn't been for a long time. and we don't know the officer didn't follow policy. we have a smug dude implying that he didn't, but he never said he DIDN'T get authorization, he just implied he didn't. that is all they need, because they know people like you will hear that as "he didn't get authorization". they said "the officer should have got authorization" (did he? is normal department procedure to assume authorization has been given if they don't get ordered to desist? that is normal in a lot of places. they knew he was in pursuit and never told him to stop). they said the officer "is supposed to weigh the risks against the crime". the crime is fleeing and reckless driving, the officer has the discretion to decide if the risks outweigh the crime, like how they decide if an imminent threat is present. that is how an officer can shoot someone who doesn't have a gun, if in the circumstances it seemed like a threat was present. it doesn't mean "never chase a suspect if there is any risk they might get hurt". if you KNOW the guy is only fleeing because of an expired license or because of a parole violation, then no, it isn't worth it. the person is just stupid. with an unknown person attempting to flee, you can assume they are fleeing for a reason.
@@justforever96 not really. There are tons of guys on CZcams that flee from cops on bikes for fun and notoriety. But also many more not on CZcams because most of them aren't that stupid. Live to fight another day. This could've been a much worse accident, possibly involving the officer going 135! Lol that's going to kill someone for sure
@@justforever96 If that officer then hit another vehicle in said high speed chase, killing say a newborn child you would not hold that same stance. You can argue hypotheticals all you wish, but understand that works two ways. The fact of the matter is, any blue light chase holds serious risk to all involved including members of the public who are in the area. IF he was authorised to enter that chase, whoever authorised it should be sacked. IF he wasn't authorised, he should be sacked. The manner of driving seen in the video was ridiculously dangerous and I am telling you that from a law enforcement stance. I can guarantee you any officer where I'm from who had done that would be facing manslaughter charges if not more serious ones... It all comes down to proportionality and speculation that the motorcyclist may or may not be linked to a serious crime opposed to a minor one is absolutely not a justification for it.
