Troubleshooting Knilling Geared Pegs that are slipping

  • Occasionally the cyanoacrylate adhesive (CA glue) bond that secures Knilling Perfection pegs releases. This happens due to extreme weather changes or using them with too much friction like someone not realizing they are not normal wood friction pegs and they apply too much inward pressure while tuning, breaking the bond. What occurs when the glue bond fails the peg housing will unthread while tuning up and then the tension of the string will cause it to screw back into place.
In this video I will show you how to address and fix this issue. It’s rather simple as long as you understand how these pegs operate and how they are installed. You could also refer to my perfection peg installation video to gain further insight.
FYI ‘Super Glue’ is a CA glue.
    I hope this helps!

Thank you for this video! How long should one wait after gluing before putting the string back on and tuning it up?

Hi excuse me could you please tell me if the 7.8 or 8.3 millimeters are referring to the screwed part, or it's meaning about the thicker part of the planetary violin pegs??
I'm not sure what size choice, thanks 🙌

    Superglue ok?

Yes, superglue is CA glue. Most is very fast drying so thread your peg in all the way and place a drop or two at the edge. The glue will wick into the annular space between the peg and pegbox.
