I was just a small boy watching this show when it aired. Now in my 50s, I think more on this show and all the other shows (and movies) of that bygone era I grew up watching and miss them and those times. Shows back then had a moral message that was relatable to real life. Right was right, wrong was wrong, and people wasn't offended by the truth. Call a person or thing or situation truthfully what they were or that was and people respected it, not resented it. I often think of Grizzly Adams. I think of moving to the wilderness or at least very rural country to get away from the foolishness of society.
I’m 57 now and a retired Army Infantryman, hearing this intro takes me right back to when I was 12 and how hard life was for me back then. When people today say crap like “white privilege” I laugh since I never saw any of that, I know what being poor is about but at no time did we lose our dignity and humanity to care for others. I never considered myself a victim, I knew I’d eventually be 18 and able to live my own life so I had hope for the future and I did well. Joining the Army was the best thing I ever did and I’d do it all over again. It showed me my strengths and weaknesses that I needed to improve. I grew up near Mt. Shasta, CA and Klamath Falls, OR and my summer months were usually spent in the woods either by camping or when we had to harvest some trees for firewood which took me weeks to cut and chop 5-6 cords of wood to heat the house in the harsh winters on the High Desert. When you get used to harsh conditions as normal, the rest becomes easy.
Loved and grew up on it in the 70s. I used to go to bed and pray to be like Grizzly Adams one day as I was so in love with his life. I have always semi had that life since. Not way in the mountains but a great life in the country and always had animals around me.
I totally forgot about Uncle Jesse being in the intro......I`m goin` on 52,and this just brought me back 40+ years.......R I P, Dan Haggerty......you were loved......Gentle Ben,too.....
Shame they couldnt show these again show these young ones of today what they missed id watch these all over again those were the days gone but never forgotten
Good news! I just recently found out that GET TV is showing Grizzly Adams on Sunday mornings! Not to mention, the dvds for the two seasons it was on,have been out for a few years now.
Remember watching this as a kid, back in the days when you had 3 channels and everybody had watched the same thing the night before. It was pretty good show, Jesse Duke and the donkey added some welcome levity. Who could forget Number 7's honking bray. The theme song at the end was just depressing then kind of killed the entertainment tho, always left you sad. A bit along the lines of MASH and a lot of others then. A lot of melancholy music in those days. Still is lol.
Mr. Hagerty I'm Honored to have met you once if it was only just for a few minutes for a photo with you.. And Glad to see that get tv is showing reruns ... oh the memories . :-)
That is so cool ,We used to watch it on our 24" monster console That the antenna only pulled in six Channels ,But we always had great times Watching the Waltons also .. God bless
Gilmore: "That's right, I'm gonna beat your ass on the course!" McGavin: "Yeah, right. And Grizzly Adams had a beard." Trevino: "Grizzly Adams DID have a beard
I also grew up watching this, the song clicked wow a forgotten show that should be played on t.v it has everything and more that would really draw a crowd and get people talking, I'm sure the people's words on this sight will long be forgotten like the movie was that's to bad there's alot of things to learn about this show series.
I loved this show! Sad it didn't last much more than one season as it should've. Could've gone another season or two. In an interview Dan said it didn't continue because NBC had wanted to just focus on family sitcoms. Like there weren't already enough of those..
My firstborn Lady grandchild was just nicknamed grizzley Adams. She had character since a child. Rejecting my tingo-li-lingo- while raising her little arm to dance to my "music" she pulled her arm away and told me firmly "let go!" (Her back was against me all this time) I begged her again by putting my hand on her head, moving her little head and played the tingo-li-lingo-lingo-li, well you get the idea. She roughly pulled her head away and said "LET GO DA HEAD" Well, you can now😊sigh, understand why the name grizzly Adams just sprouted. Lady with character 😊 Made me laugh, me here alone. Thank you bles'sed Father 🤗 The beautiful fond memories which nothing can erase. They grow up so fast. Her middle name Gabriella
I was lucky enough to meet Mr. Haggerty back in 2000 when he was doing a biker charity event. A truly wonderful man he was, too. We chatted for a few minutes, took a couple pictures together and even got an autograph,as well.
For a show that lasted less than 40 episodes it's amazing that it made it to syndication. Of course, I'm glad it did. I enjoyed the show, although I could have done without the corny songs that were often played during the episodes. The title song should have been enough. Some probably compare adams to somebody like Jeremiah Johnson but I think of him more like robinson crusoe. Ben is Pol the parrot and Nakoma is Friday. I hate that neither Nakoma nor mad jack were in the capture of grizzly adams.
0:23 Captain Morgan from Family Court 'Sleepy Hollow at Night' -- Junior's friend Adam that wants to put people in prison because there's work to do -- Adam, EEVBlog, and I are going to Aunt avis is louis from family guy
Because if you grew up watching this, it reminds you of a time when a family could watch TV and not have to worry about a sex scene, or someone running off at the mouth swearing. It was tv you could actually enjoy.
Yeah, like aerospike said it was a time of innocence and integrity. For me, it reminds me of going to my grandparents house after Church and this or Kung Fu or another good show was on and I would watch it while the adults talked and Ma (grandma) would bring in a smile and a candy bar. :) Very good times, indeed! God Bless them all
Love the show! But the season 2 DVD set from Shout Factory, not so much! 5 and even 6 shows crammed onto 1 Disc, picture quality looked terrible! Season 1 looked OK! but like season 2 both seasons could have had more time spent on them to have a better viewing experience! Like the beginning and ending of shows the audio dragged, sounded like turning an old 45 record down to 33 LP on some shows? I hope they come out with a better product of this TV series on DVD! and better yet on Blu Ray! With all the quirks fixed! and not be so tight with their discs this time around! People would gladly pay a few extra bucks for a few extra discs, and better picture! Just so they don't get a headache from eye strain! Shout Factory, come on, I know You can do better then that!
Very sick you Pieter (Animal Doctor) got MAN, Amadeus set up became fool on me, coz you think Bear is friend. Stop please, Pieter! I'm high School without north, shoes. I was born in there. #Learn okay
They don't make TV shows like this anymore.
What a classic.
😊
A grown up man listening to this theme song with tears streaming down my face. Thanks for the memories Dan taggerty. Gone but never forgotten.
They certainly don’t make shows like this one anymore. What a shame! We need them now more than ever.
When life was good and good entertainment...I still want to live that life , but were would I get my gout tablets 😢
As a very young girl I’d run to the tv whenever I heard the tune. Grand memories ❤

My all time favorite show ! This show helped me in so many ways ❤
If you remember this show ... you're old!
The nostalgia! Long before cable, before computers, before cell phones! Sigh.
Still remember the theme song.
