    Today I take out my Bear Grizzly Recurve Bow and test shooting at the archery range.
    Shooting a Bear recurve bow is very challenging. Watch me take it up and try.
    A recurve bow is a bow with limbs that curve away from the archer when unstrung. A recurve bow stores more energy and delivers energy more efficiently than the equivalent straight-limbed bow, giving a greater amount of energy and speed to the arrow. ... Extreme recurves make the bow unstable when being strung.
    The shape gives the bow more power and because of this can shoot an arrow faster. The recurve is wider than the long bow, but thinner in depth, meaning that it is less forgiving to shoot, since the reduction in thickness means it is possible to torque the limbs when pulling the string if your form is off.
    The most popular traditional bow today. The reflex/deflex design of the limbs allows a recurve to shoot arrows fast. The larger size of the riser makes a recurve bow stable in hand for no handshock (vibration of the bow that hurts your hand). Recurves can be very accurate as they are normally cut to (or past) center so the arrow is pointing directly where you are shooting.
    Offered as one-piece and takedown recurve bows, you find traditional recurves in all lengths and weights. Highly recommended for the beginner archer as they are easier to shoot, and many offer bushings for attaching accessories to your bow.

    I've been using my Bear Grizzly in 50# @ 28" starting 56 years ago in the mid 1960s. It shoot better than when new. I have used it to take my daily limit of two pheasants on the wing more times than I can count, as well as other game. I have long bows, compounds and a scoped crossbow. My grizzly is my roving, hunting and most loved. If I had to select one bow for end of an world event, Bear Grizzly.🎯

    You can't hold a bow like that you pretty much have to draw and shoot quickly

      You are correct. I am better now, old video.

    I've never owned a bow. Did you have this set up for you, your draw length, etc? Might be worth getting is tuned up and adjusted. Looks like you just need to practice with it more, your not that far off. Oh yeah, my channel is the same way...I started off one way, but now I have videos from everything that interests me. Keep it up, got my interest.

      It's too heavy for a newbie. Need to develop the muscles first. Can't go from a computer to drawing 50 pounds overnight. My fault. Thanks for the great comment. I always figure if my title is accurate subscribers don't have to watch if they aren't interested. Always better to post the video than to post nothing. Thanks

      Very true! My uploads are so random....just can't get motivated to make a video so often.

      Yeah friend. I hear ya. At the end of the day I simply dont use it enough to practice. It wears me out too fast. I need a 40. I think theres a stupid macho thing out there where they think everyone needs a 50

  • @ladduncan

    You had a four year layoff from shooting, just keep shooting to grease the groove and do push-ups each night, no problem

    Have you got that jeep yet ? I also have masses of posion ivy at my house this year. Compound bow is the answer. It's easy to hold the pull after you make your draw. Much more power too. If you buy one be sure you get fitted for it at a bow shop before you buy it.

    • @hamradiocq
      @hamradiocq  Před 7 lety

      Fishermanfred1 funny you should say. I just got a compound off craigslist. Got a great deal....I don't need a new car yet I'm probably 3 or 4 years away from wearing out my little Honda Fit

    Archery? Ah, I'm so confused! What does this have to do with QRP?
    Oh, maybe this was an intro for a follow on. I know, you're gonna put a bow fishing attachment on your bow and show us how you put a 160m EFHW into a really big tree! Yeah!

    • @hamradiocq
      @hamradiocq  Před 7 lety +1

      Sorry for the confusion..., but I take a break from radio and do other things...I don't really want to run a bunch of different channels so I put it on this channel. I try to be as descriptive as possible in the Titles so as not to deceive. I will do more radio videos, but I think it's better to put something out (what I'm doing) then go for 2 weeks with no video at all.

      A reference point like the corner of your mouth a spot to touch that lets you know your drawing the same everytime

    Your bow is 5 lbs too heavy. You’re not coming to full draw. It’s hard to have good form when you are fighting the bow.

    Once you get good and take your first deer with traditional equipment you will be hooked for life. Get a light recurve bow 35lbs or less to practice with, you will get good fast. Look up Jeff Kavanagh on you tube ,awesome instruction !

  • @flysomethingdamitdotcom8788

    You don't know how to shoot a bow.
