  • A timelapse of the Lyrid meteor shower and the Space X Starlink Sattelite train shot in The Netherlands. Unfortunetely there where not too much meteors, but I ‘caught’ a few!
I think the Starlink Satellites are really annoying for astrophotography and especially timelapse photography...

Amazing timelapse Rick! I was wondering how it's going to be new timelapses of the sky with this launch of the starlink mission. And, for one hand it's curious the effect. But for the other, i'm quite sad that we're never going to enjoy the clean sky again because there're 15000 objects in the orbit.

Thank you! Yeah it's fascinating indeed, but for watching and photographing the nightsky it is no good..

    Beautiful!
I ran 2 cameras for a 1 hour timelapse during what was supposed to be the height of the shower here in Australia, and only saw one meteor.
Very jealous of your video, even with the satellites.

thanks! Well, there are only a handful of meteors in this video... Didn't see much of them.

the fact that this is possible is amazing. But I realy don't like the fact it destroys the beauty of the night sky...

Good job Rick. Enjoyed it. But there's something which ruins the calm and beauty of it... and damn that's just the beginning of a night sky, which will never be the same.

Awesome timelapse! Also, the music is soo refreshing! None of the music recognising apps seem to find the song playing. Could you please share the link to the music?

This forebodes terrible, light pollutions caused by LEO satellite megaconstellations...
NEO detection still heavily depends on ground-based telescopes. Perhaps the U.S. should really step up the infrastructure plans and actually work on providing fiber networks to rural areas instead of letting these companies pump out nanosatellites to circumvent this internet access problem. I think Starlink can be useful for very remote islands like several pacific islands, Faroe islands, and maybe for ships and airplanes, but for other areas, this should never be a permanent solution.

the question is, which of the objects in the sky are satellites (ones not in a train) and which are meteors?
