Marpagapa L umm not necessarily although I definitely believe Bruno turned united around in a big way and improved them. What im saying is both Sporting and United are run by complete idiots and they both suck at negotiating, so Mendes was brought in to try and get the deal over the line.

As a Valencia fan this hurts to watch. from back-to-back UCL finals despite coming up short on both occasions, to winning the "Doblete" in 2004, the Copa del Rey's of 2008 and 2019.... To a team whose future is uncertain. So sad to see my club where big names like Romario, Mendieta, Aimar, Canizares, David Villa, David Silva, Juan Mata, Jordi Alba, Paco Alcacer, Roberto Soldado and many others grew up and started their carrers at the Mestalla.

You remarked in this video that the Portuguese league (and by association, Mendes) seem to function as a port of entry to Europe for South American talent, and you gave a ton of useful examples (Di Maria, Rodriguez, etc)
In this structure, where do players like Raul Jimenez fit in? Jimenez is obviously not South American and I am aware of the differences between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF... At Wolves we are the only club in the top flight not to sign a player in this window. We have a squad of like 13 players and the rest are under 23 kids. We rely so heavily on Mendes... Again he's fosuns advisor and nuno's agent so with a week left we are left waiting to see what Portuguese players Jorge wants to move around and send to us.

Mendes rise was based on his former and initial good relationship with three men. Pinto da Costa, Porto's President, Oliveira former national team coach and Veiga first Portuguese agent to achieve international dimension. He was an ambitious unethical fellow. He used to hang around youth academies and steal young prospects from other agents. That's how he stole Nani then age 18. Nani signed for him because he took him for lunch and offered him an expensive watch. Nani's agent pressed charges against him and later made an agreement under pressure and being the only female then inexperienced agent in Portugal, guess it didn't helped either. Nani's transfer from Sporting to Man.Utd alone was enough to make that watch and that settlement look like peanuts. Nani went to United for a fee (£20M)well above Cristiano Ronaldo's(£15M) fee one or two seasons prior.

As a wolves fan It’s a strange set of circumstances in a football sense at wolves but a completely genius business move with the clubs owners having that stake in his company it ensures his agenda is aligned with the clubs and as far as I can see it it is dodgy but it’s working for the club at least for now and the Portuguese national team is being shaped for the future in the West Midlands of England

Funny how I was looking at how to become an agent and the this comes up, coincidence I think not. Can you do a video on the football leaks trial in Portugal.
The trial is on the basis of illegitim access to correspondence and extortion the kid allegedly made to Doyen.
Acess to correspondence is a minor crime and the charges for extortion are thin, Doyen group are many companies, the kid hacked one, obtained information regarding other, blackmailed a third one and the charges are made for one other company inside Doyen group so is very plausible the kid will only get a a couple of years jail time and stay free.
The judgment is not about the crimes he revealed, this is in Portugal, the corrupts are protected, the ones who expose them enjailed.

As a Wolves fan since a babby - following the old gold through thin and thin - even though we're having the best few seasons in yonks - I'm not happy with the scenario we're in at the mo. That transfer to one place, loan to another (if you look close players always go to better clubs, never worse) is an accounting/financial/influence move, mostly because of Financial fair play. Man is smart and he definitely is not known for fucking players, his bottom is play time or big pay check for the players choice. Ronaldo move to Manchester was the first, he 'lost' money has there were teams paying a LOT more for him than Manchester, but sir Alex Fergunson compromised in putting him to play (min 60% I think) and guide him/build him as a footballer.
Of course sometimes some players fallout, either by injury, by not fitting, bad timing and he is there to help them fix the whole (football, physical, life, psychological side, etc) and find them a good fit after, profit or no profit.
His secret really is that he can make money while helping everyone at the table, from player, the pass owners, the receiving club, everyone. Even in deals that usually agents won't make money he will one way or the other while helping everyone.
Do a video comparing professional agents and agents who are family members of the footballer like: Wanda Icardi, wife of Mauro Icardi or Jorge Messi, father of Lionel Messi.
