- It’s time for calcio! Just like on the occasions when we presented you other stadiums, we do the same with the Serie A arenas. In the upcoming season there will be 18 venues where the best Italian teams will fight for a scudetto. What to expect from the top sides? One thing is certain - the stadiums in Italy are old but gold. The atmosphere and lively stands always please not only the fans present there but also those who are watching Serie A games on TV.
Some of the stadiums were built for the 1990 World Cup and they stand in unchanged form, but the other ones have been recently renovated. Moreover, in Italy there are a few designs for future stadiums, but are they going to be implemented some day? Get to know all of these venues and the history behind both the clubs and the arenas where they perform.

Genoa is distant 800 km from the Amalfitan coast and the largest sea port is in Trieste
Fiorentina's Stadium is being completely redeveloped the next few years. Thats why the capacity is reduced for the coming seasons from its usual 40,000. Its great to see that the work is actually started. The plans for the redevelopment of Stadio Artemio Franchi are beautiful and i think it will be up their with more modern Italian Stadiums like Juventus Stadium and Udinese Stadio Fruili when its completed.

I am sorry, cannot understand the rationale behind the ranking as Olimpico in Rome in 3rd place, a stadium where you have no idea of what happens in the pitch as the fans are awfully far away, or Maradona close to the podium, a place where most of the time less than 50% of the toilets are accessible, it's quite understandable.

Juventus is by far and away the best most modern stadium in Italy, San Siro is only first because of nostalgia, yes it's beautiful... but it's practically falling apart, the dinosaurs played in it.

Every stadium should have the fans attached to the field. Most have the "curva" extremely far from the pitch. Hopefully Empoli and Fiorentina's stadium renovations will look great.
To suggest that the relics in Milan, Napoli and Rome are better than more modern stadia like Atalanta, Udinese and Juve, is simply rubbish.

feels like it's just a list of stadiums ranked on their capacity rather than quality. San Siro is basically in risk of falling apart, should be near the bottom of the ranking.

Stadio Luigi Ferraris is ranked far too low. It's compact, well integrated with nearby architecture, nice-looking, has no running track.

Stadio Luigi Ferrari is not next to the Amalfi Coast (located near Salerno, southern Italy). Fiorentina's stadium capacity is aprox 35.000 and not 22.000.
