I have to say, for the amount of food they turn out, the quality is amazing. And consistent.

Mr. Cortez is also very kind and neighborly, always thanking those who tell. visitors where to find Mi Tierra, they've stopped by my job a couple times to say thank you and bring us cookies.

My Pop used to drive there from Taylor, Tx at least once a month to visit Mi Tierra when I was old enough to remember around 4 years old. Im 72. When my kids were growing up i made it a point to go there and happened to get the same exact table my parents and us sat at when we went. A lot of loving memories there.

My grandmother had a produce stand around rhe corner. Our family has been eating there since day one. The Cortez family also owns La margarita. I remember going there when it was a small cafe owned by an Asian family. My dad who is now 84 would go to the upstairs living area of the cafe and listen to the Lone Ranger radio show with the owners kids .

Prior to Mi Tierra, it was the Toyo Cafe, owned by Frank Kakutaro Kuwamura a pre-war Japanese immigrant. Produce Row once had as many as 4 Japanese-owned restaurants in the 1930s-1940s, all of the restaurants serving simple Mexican/American food (not Japanese!).

How did I miss this place when I went to San Antonio twice? Even staying nearby. I could have walked. Well, the last time we travelled with my parents in law, who made us go to English style pub restaurants for most every meal. Next time, I’ll go by myself and explore places recommended by this channel.

This was an amazing story of hardworking immigrants, Hats off. Unfortunately in Norway and Skandinavians countries we are facing a tremendous amount of " Illegal immigrants " From Afghanistan, Syria, Sudan, Especially Eritreans and Somali. Not willing to work , Instead relaxing and relying on free housing and benefits. Just type " Malmoe riot" 3 weeks ago, Media will not talk about. Well done to these immigrants, Hard working class. Respecting laws and taxpayers🇳🇴🙋‍♂️🐺

Edie Bluntzer Market Square is not on a street, it occupies multiple city blocks. But it’s surrounded by I-35/I-10, Santa Rosa, Commerce, and Dolorosa Streets. Near the Children’s Hospital/Milam Park/UTSA downtown.

Question: Do you feel embarrassed when the musicians come to your table? What are you supposed to pay them?

Felipe Saucedo does that make any sense ? I visited once a local restaurant here in town and the cook was having an argument with owners , yelling and throwing the pots and pans all over the place but it was a one time thing and since then I’ve been there hundreds of times, go back most likely it won’t be the case again if indeed it was the case in the first place , don’t fogged by what you think you perceive when in reality it is not ... I’m from Cali and if I get a chance to visit San Antonio , you bet your bottom dollar I’m there .. I want try everything they got no matter what negative comment people say
