Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN) episode 195: Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures. Also known in Japan as "Hello! Pac-Man." Pac-Man 2 is a side-scrolling adventure game in the Pac-Man series. Instead of being a maze game like the majority of its predecessors, Pac-Man 2 incorporates light point-and-click adventure game elements. The Nerd is playing the Sega Genesis version. He joins Pac-Man exploring and interacting with the world and characters around him. Take on a task, and then take a wild ride on a mine cart or set off on an intense hand-glider flight while fending off some unrestful ghosts. This game was coined "the first ever interactive cartoon" by the game's manual.

Okay
I know there is a snes version of this game played by JDG
James, yet again you make another awesome episode of AVGN 🦝👍
@@PhilosophyRaccoon as usual
I used to play this game for hours. Sometimes with no intent on advancing, but just to mess with pacman. Pacman being chased by bees will forever be one of my all time favorite gaming memories

I guess that's the ending joke - it's different than all the others.
Maybe that's why it has an ending like that

They are all pretty tame these days ..
Not a bad thing. This is the best modern era episode I've seen. Not amazing, just reminds me more of earlier stuff.
All these years later and 'Fred Fuchs' still makes me giggle like a child.

Nice
Not really I dont laugh at these episodes anymore it's such a same I'll all like james and AVGN as the past ones where classics however what he's putting out now is d- and that's being kind
yes, lol ever heard of Ken Fuchs?

Fun facts this is the shortest AVGN episode since December of 2017
Ah yes, since the teras kasi episode, I think that might still be the shortest
And the most generic as well.
He's slacking
Funny, I could've sworn I remember back in his earlier days since 2006, one of his shortest was McKids, Wally Bear, Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu to name a few
You actually looked that up? That's cool
"You just gotta put up with Pacman's emotional outbursts."
I deal with that enough on an everyday basis.
What actually from Pacman himself,,now that would be pretty cool,,lol..

"You just gotta put up with the Nerd's angry outbursts."
@@paul_warner We used to do that, not many more :'(
The delivery on "wow. Guess I'm gonna play that now" was perfect
I think the nerd can also benefit from just exploring the WEIRDEST games out there, not just the WORST. Crazy reactions are always fun.
Was watching “Return to Oz” and guess who’s name shows up in the credits? Fred Fuchs. I couldn’t believe it.
Return to OZ, love that movie, better than Wizard of OZ for me, i just love how dark it is.
That's because Fred Fuchs is actually a film/TV producer who worked on the *movie* Bram Stoker's Dracula, and happened to be involved enough with the video game tie-in to get a mention in the credits, spawning the running gag.
return to oz and dracula? now it makes sense
Watch Dracula episode
She was also in the Godfather credits
You know this engine would have been perfect for a 2D horror game
There’s clock tower on super famicom
Kinda reminds me of the original Clock Tower. Not quite, but its there familiarly.
When I was younger, I was stuck playing it at a funco for like 2 hours. See, my mom just forgot I was out with her, and left me at the shopping center until she realized I wasn't home for dinner.
I had nightmares about this game.
Well said. The devs probably had a grandiose idea for this system
Here’s the thing: Pac-Man 2 _is_ a horror game
He may not be as angry as before, but I love when he spuns these old game trivia on us. That being said, this one definetely had something strange going on. The pace and energy are very toned down.
Not trying to pull a "Gladiator", but I was still entertained. He has highs and lows, but even James' lows have always given me a few smirks. Always happy to see the new content indicator for Cinemassacre.
Considering the subject of the video, I have to wonder if that was deliberate.
He's still as entertaining to me as he was years ago, but it's obvious he's mellowed out with age, in which isn't a bad thing imo
People forget he’s now Middle Aged this is normal
He probably got a billion requests for this over the past decade only to find out it's not really bad, just a novel idea executed poorly. Man's too old to farm outrage when there's actually bad games still out there
Thanks for featuring our recording we appreciate all the love that has come our way!

That Ska rendition of AVGN was so pleasing to hear!
Ska is the music of those who unworthy of dambationbut nobody wants around.
Once the guitar came in, it immediately made me think of Reel Big Fish, lol. While it didn't sound like what they make normally, it was definitely familiar!
huh?
Brought me back to my teen years 🤣
Tf is Ska?
The absurdity of the game paired with the Nerd’s relatively understated delivery actually made this video funnier
Is it just me or did this episode seem very... mild? Compared to previous episodes?
Ever notice how James always says wolf like “woof?”
Well, he is from Jersey.
Maybe you hear it like woof?
The 2 words that always annoy me are "Mountain" and "Button" they're definitely not "Mowden" and "Budden" like he says lol

the L is almost silent anyways, would you rather he say it in a thick nordic accent?
I can't believe you shot Pac-Man right in his Power Pellets.

This game is so surreal, it feels like pacman is a punching bag in a sitcom but they made it a weird point and click game instead..
This Pac-Man game is pretty much a video game starring Meg Griffin.
even the avgn intro song felt like a sitcom opening song
Y’think this is surreal try looking up the cartoon. They tried Flinstone-ing the character.
I'm very grateful he is still making AVGN videos after all these years, but man he really has just become the "Somewhat mildly irritated video game nerd"
I prefer him being a bit more chill and building up the anger, instead of him immediately screaming his lungs out.
He doesn't have the time to get angry anymore.
getting older also mellows you out too. he started doing these videos back in 2004 remember
I think some fans can agree that the lack of angers is the least of the issue unfortunately
I think he’s great and don’t have a problem like a lot of other people seem to do. Everybody’s a critic
This seems to be the shortest AVGN in the last 4 or 5 years! That's pretty incredible. Also...James was playing the AVGN 2. That's meta

I really liked this game as a kid, played it a lot on SNES. Loved the animations, especially all the funny faces pac man do.
Best ending ever. "All that we see or seem. Is but a dream within a dream." - Edgar Allan Poe
As frustrating and obstinate as this game could be, it was still kind of amusing to see all the ways you could die. One being that you get doused in ketchup by an angry hotdog vendor and for some reason that counts as a death?
Oh and the soundtrack was great. Really helped take the edge off of the more difficult sections.
Getting doused in ketchup by an angry hot dog vendor results in death? Is that stuff mixed with acid?!
Slingshot at Lucy (no, not that Lucy) also counts as a death. Seeing Pac-man wanting to punch you for that is hilarious though.
Pac Man has a cataclysmic tomato allergy. Not only is it lethal to him, it causes his corpse to release noxious spores that zombify passerby.
This game was so fun as a kid. I remember laughing and being amazed with all the secrets you could unlock. still fun to play on emulators.
Someone gets it!
I also loved this game as a kid. While I was originally expecting a platformer (like Pac-in-Time) I ended up loving the unique nature of Pacman 2: The New Adventures. It was a lot of fun and I loved all of Pacman's wild reactions (especially when he got angry and started cursing at me. LOL).
This game rocks. People just hate ir because they were expecting a classic style pac man

James needs to go back to his old shirts.this is too clean.
This. And his old style of making videos. He's pumping videos out like they're on an assembly line now. Same exact formula, every video is the same. I know he's a busy family man but this is just depressing when you compare it to his old content.
There's no originality anymore.
@@chiarosuburekeni9325 I don't mind the actual new vids, but there's no aggression anymore....no clever wordsmithery or frustration behind it...
One of the things that makes the older videos so different is the music. The new ones mostly use stock audio, but the older ones used a bunch of old-school videogame music and chiptunes. It seems minor, and it took me a long time to notice, but it makes quite a big difference. I also think the older videos had more elaborate and exaggerated jokes, which is funnier to me. I still like the new videos, however, and since we're getting close to episode 200, James might be planning something big for that, so let's see what happens.
@@chiarosuburekeni9325 James has made it clear that he hasn't really had a passion for AVGN for almost half a decade now, but he still wants to keep doing it because he wants fans to be happy.
