Barrel tuner - do I need one? Do they work?

- To barrel tuner or not to barrel tuner? Today I look at the functinality of adding this to my FX Impact. The longer the barrel the bigger the shift with the barrel tuner. FX barrels are very sensitive to weight and this impacts the harmonics.

I have the same tuner on my rifle, it works better with heavier slugs , i went from a 20mm group on 50m to 9mm group on 50m with 28gr slugs, and it’s on the setting zero

Thanks for the video, I think you hit the nail on the head when using pellets and an adjustable rifle like the FX, a tuner is just another gizmo to fiddle with. Slugs maybe a different story. How many tuners were visible at the extreme bench rest comp in Utah
Most of the benchrest guys use weights if no tuners, just about all the benchrest champs have weights on their barrels... The FX is adjustable and no need for a tuner, unless you don't want to fiddle around. I have shot 1000's of slugs to find the right tune on my gun and I am still not happy. lol.

Try to repeat the same at a longer distance, there will be definitely more visual representation of the impact the tunner will have.
The question i have is that will the tunner will have the same effect with different temperatures?
And lovely concept of marking the tunner easy repeatability

Hi Gert. I love your videos! I've been shooting your .217 unknown slugs. Do you perhaps sell any slugs in .216 ? I've got a .22 PCP with a chocked barrel. It shoots pellets pin point accurate , but shoots slugs all over the place. I've tried probably 7 different brands of slugs and struggle to get a good grouping. Your slugs have grouped the best that I've tested. I generally shoot my slugs around 940fps, but it can vary from 900 to 1000. Thanks a million. Ashley.

with a barreltuner you do not need a gun with all the adjustment possible ,only a barreltuner ,.hammertension and reg adjustable , set in the sweetspot

Ek stel my .22rf tuner soos volg.
1. Ek skiet 'n 5 skoot groep as 'n verwysing.
2. Ek gebruik 'n 25 skoot benchrest teiken.
3. Die tuners se merk is op 0.
4. Ek begin op teiken 1.
5. Ek skiet 2 skote as dit raak aanmekaar raak die 3de skoot wanneer dit nie raak gaan ek na teiken 2.
6. Ek stel die tuner 1 kliek aan en doen weer soos met eerste teken.
7. Ek herhaal van teiken na teiken die verstelling todat ek die sweet spot kry.
8. My ondervinding is dat die sweet spot is versprei oor 5 tot 7 verstelings en djt is wanneer ek 5 skoot groepe kry wat aan mekaar raak. Dit werk ook net met goeie ammo. Jy sal nie Marksman pellet beter kan skiet met 'n tuner nie.
As jy meer info soek oor my metode vra die BR manne van die WP vir my whattsapp nommer dan kan ons gesels.
Dankie Nick. Yes die Barrel tuner kan goed werk vir BR ouens, maar hy gaan nie goed werk vir die jagters nie, veral nie met FX se strooitjie dun lope nie. Ek gebruik myne slegs vir BR, sodra die afstande begin wissel is dit amper onmoontlik om vir elke afstand die perfekte verstelling te kry.
Does the harmonic barrel tuner also work on a stainless steel barrel?
Yes it will, but to a lessor extend, the stiffer the barrel the less effect it will have. My one friend uses one on his 22 rimfire with a very stiff barrel.

I would like to go as accurately as i can with the Fx impact .25 ,and have installed a stainless steel outer tube for more rigidity and wonder if the harmonic barrel tuner would do any good.
@@janhavinga5105 The FX allows you to fine tune, depending on what you want to shoot. I would look at minor adjustments before I invest in a barrel tuner. If you can't get super accuracy then yes add the barrel tuner.

The camera is having focusing issue due to the automatic laser foccusing which is trying to focus on the curtain in the background(try to tyrn off the auto focus if some thing is consistantly moving in the back ground)

Nope, Canon R6 with adapter to fit older EF Lense...
It’s just for fx? I do have Lcs sk-19
This model is specific for FX, I ordered another one that will fit any rifle.

Thanks for caring, have been preparing for Worlds FT and snowed with work, plus I peeved of some manufacturers, so I don't get new stuff to test. Honesty hurts. lol. Working on some ideas for Sept if all goes to plan.
