One of the qualities that I really like in my Transformers figures is when the robot mode looks like it does not transform. And this figure nails it.
some car/disguise forms either are SO GOOD that you cannot even know where the transforming parts are and some car forms have their transforming parts blatantly exposed/easily can be found, just like this one
I like those types of Transformers too but not to the point they look human like in the Bayverse after DoTM.
He looks like a transformer and gundam combined with speed racer. Wow.
It's very similar
- the color scheme are majorly white
- the chest looks like a Gundam cockpit
- and the head has some sort of crown looking thing

Check out the channel, there are some absolute monsters in terms of complexity. Agreed on the look, though, IDW Drift is fantastic.

What an incredible transformation. Very tight and well defined robot form with Gundam inspired looks. Top tier.
The alt mode looks like the old 80s Japanese race car, but the human form is epic! Definitely buying this one

The car itself is based on another racing anime from the early 90s called Future GPX Cyber Formula and the car shown here is the hero car called Asurada.
In his first appearance in the comic Transformers: All Hail Megatron, Drift is the comrade of Perceptor and Blurr. In Animated Drift he is the comrade of Prowl and Jazz, but he is still the comrade of Perceptor and Blurr as in the All Hail Megatron comic.
IDW Drift has a real super-robot mech vibe like he jumped straight out of the Brave series.
I like it.
if you pay attention to Alex's art style, you can tell that he loves anime, lol.

The windscreen being the only thing that ties both halves of the figure together during the transformation is kinda worrying, but the results are undeniable

I'm usually somewhat iffy when it comes to car Transformers as most are just lying face down with their arms up and legs together. Nice to see one where that isnt the case.

Looks great for both modes, but that transformation sequence is rather complex, and the torso looked pretty flimsy mid-transformation, seemingly hanging by the the canopy of the car mode. That pelvic armor is kinda strange and complicated in transformation.

現在的變形玩具構造是做的越來越神奇了
硬要說缺點的話，大概就是有點過度炫耀那種反向包覆完全變形的複雜構造
反而在變形後失去了原本車子的流線型態與特徵，感覺只是完全變成了機器人，原本賽車的元素幾乎沒有保留下來，只能勉強看出原本是台車而已
尤其是大家都知道閃電霹靂車最著名的賣點就是那個推進加速器，變形後竟然完全被包在身體裡了
過度要求反向包覆的變形設計反而失去了老派變形玩具講究的那種可以明顯看出原本載具型態特徵與功能性的優點
如果可以更加注重並善用原本車體的特徵，讓變形後的角色可以更貼近原本載具時的風格與功能
像是適當的將車頭的流線造型保留在人形，更明顯的將車輪或渦輪風扇外露，甚至更大膽的把推進器搭配尾翼做成噴射背包搭配腳上的輪子去表現它原本作為賽車的高機動性
或許就會更好看也更帥了

Still an absolute Marvel of engineering, its pracgtically Wizardry that never ceases to amaze me the things they can do with these guys, folding bits within bits! :O

The vehicle mode is actually a race car from Cyber Formula anime, Asurada.
Drift understands that large pauldrons are a sign of authority
When I see the back of head, I think they will like gundam head shape (asurada is basically "gundam car" and sunrise make both of them)

Can the swords be stored on him? I have the classic one where the swords can be stored.
The parts and mechanism look delicate and complicated for my 10 year old self. I might've ruined this beautiful machine if I had this back then.
The way the whole upper and lower half of the body rely entirely on a single small hinge on the clear windshield piece has me so nervous :X
So that's the car mode of that model kit I got lol.
