    My dad is a diabetic and his CGM has helped him really understand his diabetes even after years of having diabetes and being to every nutrition class, he can now see real time how what he eats affects his sugars and body. He has had so many strokes and his doctors have said his sugars are the reason why, if he controls his A1C levels he can control future stroke likelihood.

    bro i realy needed to coment again, 1 think your not taking into acount is, fats dont make a smaller spike on blood glucose, actually it makes you process carbs slower cause your body is eating the fats first, and you will probably use more insulin to digest that meal, so insted of looking for sugar spicks you should be worried about insuline amount needed to digest a meal, lots of times high fat meals with some carbs will make your body use more insuline then just carbs. thers a lot of the endocrine system your not considering, body does not process food the way most people think.

      @@holcos hello, yes i can, cgm are made for type 1 diabetics that need them to control their blood sugar, y
      we dont have functional pancreas cause of autohimune desease, so we need a cgm to help us decide wen to inject insuline in our bodies, and that tecnologie is expensive cause our blood sugar goes up and down a lot to dangerous lvls, the cgm he his using its ment for type 1 diabetics cause it can detect sugar lvls on the blood from 40 to 500, i do understand the utility of having access to cgm for sports, and Aboot umderstands that to, so theirs actualy a cgm for people that are not diabetic, and thoes ones can check blood sugar from 60 to 250 in the blood thoes ones are way easyer to build and less expensive cause of its range, what i tried to explain was if you are not a type 1 diabetic you should use the sensor made for sports (range from 60 to 250) and never the type1 diabetic sensor ( range from 40 to 500) the type 1 diabetic sensors are for type 1 diabetics, and thers often a shortage in the market of type 1 diabetic sensors, so people that dont have diabetes should never use the diabetic sensor, they should use the sports sensor so that our sensors that save our lives daily are availiable for us at market.

      sorry i answear to the wrong coment, try to think like this, you shouldnt only tink abount blood sugar spike, for instance you can spike as high as 200 just eating rice, but it will go down fast, cause insuline will be able to get that suvar inside your cell fast cause you only eat rice, if you eat rice and some fat, that will be completly diferent, your blood sugar will spike to 130 and you think its healthier, but it might not be the case, if your blood sugar lvls mantain at 125 for hours, because your body is processing fat first then sugar, it means that the amount of hours you spent using insuline is much superior then just rice that got your spike way higher to the 200, but it only stayed there for 15 minites and then came back to 100 for 2h and then finaly to 80, thats healthy, so high spike for short period its ok 130 for 4h its not ok, cause you will be using a lot more insuline for that meal and your digeston will be a lot slower cause of the fat, sugar ia not your enemie you just need to learn how to eat it. lets think like this, you cant mix carbs and fats, if your gona eat fat dont eat carbs and if you gonna eat carbs dont eat fat. i hope it helped. and sorry for the previouse unswear

    Freestyle Libre shown in this video IS NOT A CGM. This is misinformation. This device is 100% manual and not automatic. Dexcom makes CGMs. The difference between these two devices is significant. With the Freesty;e Libre, you must take action to know your blood glucose level. If you do not take action, neither you or the device will know what your glucose is. If you do not take action manually, you will have no idea what your glucose levels are. This is not a CGM. Dexcom, on the other hand, knows what your glucose levels are at all times without you taking any action. It is continuously reading your glucose levels automatically. This is a huge difference and what makes Dexcom a CGM and Freestyle Libre not one. Please correct the misinformation in this video.

      @@ShervinShares Ignoring Abbott's own incorrect marketing for a moment, will your device automatically alert you if your blood glucose is outside of a range you set without you having to perform any actions whatsoever? Dexcom can and does this. It automatically detects glucose for as long as the sensor is in range and not expired. I have owned both devices, and I know for a fact that the Libre is not a CGM. It's no better than a glucose meter, because it relies on manual intervention for every reading. A CGM is just that -- a device that continuously reads glucose by itself and has the ability to alert you when readings are outside of range. Your own video showed you performing an action to read your glucose reading. That's not automatic.

    • @ShervinShares

      @jujubee672 Před 11 měsíci

      If you wiish to prove what I have written is wrong and your video is correct, simply set your Libre app to alert you when glucose is out of range AND have that alert go off without you performing any action whatsoever. That will prove it to me. Low blood sugar is an emergency life or death situation. Any CGM would be able to do this.

    Please don't promote CGM usage to non diabetics. It is extremely crummy to make this kind of video especially when many diabetics can't afford these devices to survive, and the fact many many MANY diabetic based supplies that are sometimes shifted to weight loss almost always face supply shortages. It's also not recommended by any medical organization. Please google as to why this is harmful to diabetics.

    • @charlesnl7
      @charlesnl7 Před rokem

      One can always make the argument for preventative healthcare. Unless you are type one, certain people can still be predisposed to develop diabetes with sudden health changes which impacts blood sugar e.g. cancer, spinal cord injury...etc
      I understand your intentions but the issues with production and scaling exists with all early adopters. Test strips, pumps, and Medicaid are still effective alternatives.
      It's great to raise awareness of a supply shortage however it's the manufacturer (corporate sponsorships) and government (tax subsides) that you should apply pressure to, not the customers who are naturally part of the technology adoption lifecycle. Fix the supply side issues first.

    • @hUgO6191
      @hUgO6191 Před rokem +6

      If normal people were interested in using it wouldn't the demand increase hence the supply and with time the devices would be more affordable to everyone?

    • @charlesnl7
      @charlesnl7 Před rokem +6

      @hUgO6191 yes, economies of scale. However in the short term there will be supply shocks. Some people don't understand adoption cycles or can see the long term outcomes because of fear. Then there are those who see themselves as gate keepers of a community that others randomly join but the information/ product must be held in secret to protect the needs and integrity of the group.
      I'd be more interested in preventing the increase of type 2 diabetes by raising awareness rather than discouraging the adoption of innovation which will push down costs and lead to better outcomes. It's a win, win, win.
