    Acrylic Standees should be the golden standard ! Perfect middle of the road solution, more durable than the paper ones but still retaining the gorgeous artwork instead of the ugly, bloated and overproduced 3D miniatures every company wants to sell you that make a game jump from 60 to 200 just because "look at dem miniatures ! They might be bulky and impractical but they are half a meter tall each !". Thanks for the video Zee ! PS. Minis can be gorgeous too but for better detail you pay more and you end up with too much invested in one game. Still there are games that are better with minis instead of standees, this isn't black or white.

    This looks fantastic. One question that came up:
    How does the game handle failure? Is the campaign progressing nonetheless, do you have to replay the scenario oder do you have different outcomes according to your performance?

  • @appleseiter15
    @appleseiter15 Před 2 lety +2

    This game seems similar to Horrified. Is that an accurate perception? Also, I know it’s a campaign game, but is it considered a legacy game? Unclear about the difference. I love the theme and art!

    • @russellmalo1171
      @russellmalo1171 Před 2 lety +8

      "Legacy" games are campaign games, not the other way around. A campaign game is a game that has scenarios that are played separately but in order. As you progress you'll gain access to more stories and abilities and other things like mechanics. You can't skip ahead because the game is designed with that progression in mind.
      A Legacy game is a more specific type of game (usually campaign like just based on the style) where components are altered as you play. These alterations to components are supposed to be permanent. That gives you the feel of a unique product that you play through once and you are left with something that shows the story of your decisions. Some "Legacy" come with packs to let you go through the story again, replacing the components needed. But these are not made for every game.

    This game desperately needs a FFG-like rules reference, trying to find odd pieces of information (like where does it actually say you cannot use the same skill two turns in a row) is crazy frustrating. Also, I think the Haint "AI" is extremely messy, and could definitely use some streamlining.
    Other than that, I simply adore the setting and theme, really a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to playing this to completion.

  • @ralelunar
    @ralelunar Před 2 lety

    This game shares similarities with Townsfolk Tussle, which was a KS project from November 2020. It has the same artstyle and is also a campaign/dungeon/boss-battler, with minis instead of standees.

    • @cartergreen2309
      @cartergreen2309 Před 2 lety

      I'm pretty certain Townsfolk Tussle isn't campaign. It's just the fights. The bgg page doesn't say anything about campaign and neither does the KS page. Only reason i was pretty certain is I backed it and pretty much zero chance I backed a campaign game lol

    • @ccggenius
      @ccggenius Před 2 lety

      @@cartergreen2309 Pretty sure the fact that you have to play through several consecutive boss fights while completing quests and unlocking skills and gear makes Townsfolk Tussle a campaign game... It's also a legacy game because completing objectives unlocks content for subsequent playthroughs.

    • @cartergreen2309
      @cartergreen2309 Před 2 lety +8

      @@ccggenius thats not what campaign means at all. The fights you have all take place in one session and there is no overall storyline to follow between game to game. In order to be a campaign game it needs to be played in a certain order and you follow a story from game to game until you've completed it all. From everything they've said this is just a scenario based boss battler. I don't know if you could call it legacy either. Yeah you unlock stuff for future games but a legacy game is defined as making permanent changes to the game board, components and/or rulebook and you do none of that here. It just has unlockables

  • @yellolao
    @yellolao Před 2 lety +4

    Game theme looks good, but for the little components it comes with, $75 plus additional shipping cost seems pretty high. At that price, the game could at least come with minis or clay chips. At the very least, throw in more than 1 player aid. Compare this game to The Adventures of Robin Hood which has similar components; that game is only $59.95 and comes with a hard bound narrative book!

      The game itself is very simple, it's just that each Haint has it's own rules to govern how it plays, but they all follow the same general formula(draw token, perform associated action)
