INSTALLING A TACHOMETER ON A DIESEL TRACTOR - HOW BAD WAS IT?!?

- I learned that these tachometers are only for "indoor" use in cabs, if they get wet once they'll stop working. But for a cab tractor or something they're great:

You always say you’re not a good mechanic but I think you’re pretty damn good at what you do. One of my first tractors was a zetor and they had a terrible time with the gas line collapsing and causing the engine to stall. It took the shop months and months to figure it out. I couldn’t wait because I needed a dependable tractor and traded it in.
You did a great job, can you tell me the name of the RPM unit you bought and where you bought it
I have a similar indicator, but the indicator moves late according to the engine speed, what do you think is the problem?
How do you know where the redline is for that tractor ?
Saludos desde Argentina. Esta muy bueno. Como no te entiendo le iba a decir a un amigo que me traduzca pero me avive de poner subtitulo en español. Jaja
estas por poner uno en algun motor diesel jajajaj
Way to fixify that!
Do you buy the badge and signal picker up together, or separately?
Anybody know if you could hook this up to a 2 wire magnetic pick up instead of that inductive sensor?
The tach on my 5105 JD suddenly went whacko and it's not the sensor or a ground problem and an instrument cluster is $600+
Repair orginal tacometer. Maybe it is bad wire
wow that rpm gauge is super expencive
one of my favourite games these days is how long will chuckys beard be in this one or will he have one
yeah borther. Do you guys think i should stick with a beard? :D
@@officialweldingfarmingarch2041 did you SEE my picture lol
Why wouldn't you just fix the original one?
Thats a good question actually, the answer is because electronics on old tractors, like with everything on farm equipment, weren't designed properly so they dont work right. Its the same with old alternators that have a whole birds nest of wiring attached to them, to external regulators etc.
Its always a disaster. Theres really no sorting stuff like that out especially after decades of vibration and exposure to the elements, and often parts arent available for old systems like that.
I dont even mess with them anymore, anytime I get an old tractor the alternator, all gauges etc come off it immediately and I start over. The only component on old stuff that actually works right under normal circumstances is the starter. Nothing else gets reused.
WhatsApp is the# of the kit
Why would you need to know the rpm of the engine?if it can't do the job at low RPM you have a simple solution run it faster..
PTO speed limitations.
obviously never worked a tractor before
Why would you need a tac on a tractor? 😂😂😂😂just put it to full throttle and go
one must be able to estimate PTO speed and ground speed. Both require a tachometer on tractors.
@@officialweldingfarmingarch2041 I mean not really just give it more throttle if needed lol
