Hi Peter .. we have a 1996 Corolla Seca hatch....Your videos are very informative, clear and helpful. I was able to fix. Happy wife happy life! 😀 Thankyou!!
hi peter. i am using a pre owned toyota corolla 1997 gli 1.6 then i tried the manual diagnostic of obd1 then i got the dtc 42 which is speed sensor. i checked the transmission and there i see an old type of speed sensor the one with cable on it and a sensor socket unplugged.
Hello Doc, I have a similar car (2000 corolla) . The speedometer makes a squeaking noise then stopped working. Now the transmission also wont go into 4th gear . I took out the speed sensor and it turns and looks alright. What could be the problem?
Hi mr Finn thank you so much for that professional video I was looking for it, after I see a lot of junk stupid people, I finally find your video it is more than excellent, you are the only man show such video, many thanks to you thank you so much may GOD bless you
How do you reinstall the sensor?? You said the computer is on the top and i started to try to hammer it in but stopped cuz where the clip goes was breaking this thing wont even go half way in
Hello Peter hopefully your doing fine, i have a Toyota raum 2002 with automatic transmission and it has front and rear differential. My problem with this car is when i am driving i can't accelerate over 60km/h, i'ts like its not shifting to higher gear and i can hear engine is revving please help. Many thanks and keep good videos
my AE100 (5AFE/1993/manual ) shows law Speed 20kmph to 40kmph even in the high Speeds like 60kmph - 70kmph, Trip meter Also shows Law Milage. What is the problem? Speed sensor or the meter?
Hi, my Toyota E110 sedan with only 55.000 km got his speedometer jumping up and down (parkinson style), how can i fix this? how to know where the problem is coming from?
Hi peter, great work. I have question, I have 99corolla manual transmission and the speedometer shows the 20kmph more while driving. Even i put the key and turn it the speedometer goes to 20 while the car is not moving. So what might be the problem? Sensors or should i clean the wires with contact spray? Thanks a lot.
hello peter. I have a problem. My speed sensor is like what u have in your video, but on my speedometer in the dashboard is a slot for the old square cable type. Is there a speedometer cable for this?
Nice video, Peter. Thanks. Quick question: Does the wheel section just press fit inside the sensor? I bought the senor but it didn't come with the plastic wheel and it's shaft that goes inside the sensor. I wonder if I need to buy that too!
I just saw another video showing how to switch the gear portion from the old part to the new part. It was held in with a clip. Go to 5:25 of the following video to see how he did it in an Toyota pickup. He made it look really easy, at least as long as the gear portion is in good condition. I have a 2008 Scion xB with a p0500. Is the speed sensor outside like the first one you show or is it internally like the second one? Thanks for the video.
I have a 2001 celica with the u341e transmission replaced it with a u341e that came out of a 2009 corolla I believe. Only problem I have is the speedometer bore is capped and the gear on the differential that drives the speedo is missing as well. What can I do to make this work?

I'm guessing the only thing I should have to do is change out the front-differential with one that has the drive speedo gear on it, as all the electrical componets connect up to the wiring harness thats in the car.
really informative! thanks! recently my corolla (E120/E130) series have been having issues where when cold start, i switch to my drive forward gears ( L , 2 , D ) , the gearbox did not respond and the car basically didnt move at all. However after warming up for awhile (15-mins~) , it was able to detect my gear change and starts to engage the forward gears. Reverse gear still works as per normal operation.
