Drone Reaches Interstate Speeds (autonomous flight)

It's been 20 years since I designed the first autonomous quadcopter. See here: • First quad flight 2004... This is a short video • Drone Reaches Intersta... showing off a recently custom-designed, 3D-printed drone. Toward the end of the video, you can see the ground speed go from 0 to 68 mph in ~6 seconds (FPV view UL corner. Note that drone keeps up with I-82 traffic). Max speed of the flight was 70 mph (top of the hill). This is more than 3x times the speed of a DJI Phantom (world leaders in drone tech) and more than 1.5x the max speed of their other products in navigational modes. Not bad for a $300 home-brew drone.
